Japan will lend around ¥5.3 billion to Timor Leste, the first yen loans to the country, to develop its highway road connecting Dili and the second-largest city, Baucau, to international standards.

The United Nations Human Rights Council adopted the UPR Report of Timor-Leste during its 19th Session today at the Palais des Nations, Geneva, Switzerland. During the interactive dialogue on Timor-Leste’s National Report, 125 recommendations were addressed to Timor-Leste on measures to be taken for the protection and promotion of human rights in the country.

Prime Minister, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão met with the Prime Minister of Japan, Yoshihiko Noda, in Tokyo today.
