It will be held in the Ormonde Hotel on Friday 13th February at 8pm.

For the launch, we will be holding an auction of services eg hairdresser will do hairdo, masseuse will do massage, gardener will do gardening etc. There will also be a raffle. You could have a bargain, a treat, a good night out and raise money too. Not bad for what is supposed to be an unlucky day! I really hope to see you there. Bring colleagues, friends and family. Summary

With the twin issues of peak oil and climate change at play we need to reduce our energy consumption by 20% across all activity before 2020. This report proposes and assesses a local door-to-door method (Local Scheme) to persuade householders to reduce their energy consumption. Over a period of 6 months, advice on energy saving was offered to participants and energy consumption was monitored. Two surveys examined how participants rated their own progress.

In surveys householders said they reduced energy consumption in response to the Local Scheme and the national Power-of-One promotion. Participants indicated they approved of the local scheme. In 2008, energy consumed as electricity, gas, heating oil and car fuel was 12.1, 16.6, 57.7, and 37.9 kWh/d respectively. Energy data were difficult to collect so insufficient data were available to show a difference between 2007 and 2008. However, data suggest energy saving of about 5 kWh/d at a cost of approximately 3 cent per kWh when saving energy by this method. Suggestions are made for an improved scheme.

With the Inner Relief Road proposals being reviewed by the An Board Pleanala this week in Kilkenny. Cllr. malcolm Noonan asks you for your support …

“Almost all my attention now is focused on the Oral Hearing to be held by An Bord Pleanala into the Inner Relief Road (Central Access Scheme). For some of us this is the culmination of over ten years of campaigning and we are looking forward to the hearing. Our group consists of heritage interests, community groups and individual objectors.

There are some heavy hitters on our side such as the Heritage Council, but we’re well aware that the Local Authority will have a strong team with a Senior Council. Last week I debated the issue on the Pat Kenny radio show with the Mayor of Kilkenny and national media attention is being focused on the outcome of this. I would ask if anyone has any time next week, to come to the Ormonde Hotel in Kilkenny to support us. The hearing starts on Dec 1st and is expected to last five days.”

The morning session (10.30 to 1.30) will be an open forum for members to put questions on the budget and economy.

The afternoon session (2.30 to 5pm) will include presentations on Green Economics from speakers from within the party as well as some invited guests. This will be followed by further discussion.
