As my regular blog readers know, I love boudoir shoots as they really allow my clients to reconnect with themselves. As well as feeling relaxed and pampered, they walk out the door with a real spring in their step. For this client I did a mixed session of fashion inspired portraits and boudoir.

Thanks must go to the talented Alexandra, founder of Glo Cosmetics, for the AMAZING make up for this shoot. She produced two looks, starting with a more natural look and then a vamped-up, lashed up, touch-of-vintage glamour look.

And this is what she wrote a little later when reflecting on her experience:

Clare, I had never done a boudoir shoot before, but with you everything was so easy. You are so friendly and easy going that the whole shoot was relaxing and fun! (Of course the champagne helped too!)  I loved how attentive you were at positioning me in flattering ways when I might not realise what to do. You knew exactly the right things to get me to do to show off the best parts of my body. If my glasses, earrings, hair or anything else needed a little rearranging, you fixed it right away… unlike other photographers I’ve experienced! I loved your attention to every small detail!

But soon my clients realise how safe and relaxed the environment is (especially with a female photographer) and then they realise how much we are going to have… the costumer changes… the poses… a bit of acting… maybe jumping up and down on the bed…..teamed with the excitement of producing images of themselves that they have never had taken before ….and by the time they see their images they are just dying to show their girlfriends! Well if you look hot (which you will!) then why not!  .

My client in November had so much fun that she was happy for me to share a small selection of her images with you.

She also copied me into an email she shared with her friends:

“A friend of mine in the States did a boudoir shoot recently and after seeing her pictures I thought it would be fun to do too. I found Clare’s website and I’m so glad that I did!  I was a little nervous at first, but after the first few photos I felt comfortable and the whole afternoon was fun and really relaxed. Clare is super nice and she knows exactly how to get the best images possible. I love the way my photos came out and I’m so glad I did the shoot. Of course, they also are the best gift EVER for your boyfriend/husband, but I think I’m most glad that I have them for myself. “

As you can see from the images, I only do tasteful! No centre folds or glamour mags here! I look to explore the different sides of a woman – demure, sultry, fun, cheeky, contemplative… and I always encourage my clients to help style the shoot and make it their own…

First up is a series that his parents purchased as a multi-frame. I love shooting sequences like this:

And also keeps a watch out for the cool vans that come down the street!

Finally, I rarely show an image in both black & white and colour but I can’t resist with this one…his lovely eyes!

Living thousands of miles away (in Vancouver) from me (in Zurich) I only got chance to see him when he was 6.5 months old, but as many of you know, this is one of my favourite times to photograph babies so I was pretty pleased about the timing!

He really is a happy baby and we had lots of cuddles and thankfully he only ever threw up on his Grandad rather than hubby and I! he hee – he know’s what’s what!

Obviously I was only too delighted to photograph him and we had a short window between all the family activities to get these images in my hotel room in Vegas.

I always remember that as a kid my brother loved sharks and had a big chart of all the species of shark on his bedroom wall, so it was very fitting to shoot my nephew as a shark! Though I think he is far too smiley to scare anyone!

I can’t wait to see him again in the summer when he will be running around and no doubt keeping me in check. Hopefully I will have some more images to share then. (Perhaps we need a Canucks themed picture to balance out the rugby!)

For now, big kisses to my family in Canada and obviously huge hugs to my little nephew.

This next shot was impromptu – apparently Cat and Neil do this all the time! So glad I was ready to capture it!
