The pupils participated in a variety of lectures choosing from subjects including:

  • Creative Writing

The pupils, from 8 Halton schools, spent the day in classroom based activities and evenings in the SU bar, watching football, having a disco and playing games with the Student Union leaders from Aberystywth. They also made the most of the beautiful surroundings by having a barbeque on the beach and making full use of the sports facilities there.

Jenny Rankin Mills, Halton’s HE Project Officer explained:

“The combination of lectures with student union activities allowed pupils to gain a real insight into university life”

“Trips like this will assist pupils to make informed choices as they get older and start making key decisions about their future”.

Pupil feedback included:

“I would love to go to uni after this trip”

“Thank you for an amazing trip”

“I would like to come to Aberystwyth because the location is nice”

“to work harder and aim for uni”
