Photo scavenger hunts get students moving while engaging them with course content. Well-designed photo scavenger hunts integrate 21st century skills and promote higher-order thinking.

Tips

Consider asking students to bring digital cameras from home.
Perhaps students can use the cameras on their cell phones.
This works well as a small group activity making it possible for students to share cameras.
Remember that some cameras have special equipment (USB wire, USB drive, card reader, etc.) to move the photos to a computer.

Sample Activity

STEP 1: Please work in pairs to complete one of the following activities.
MATH: Take photos that demonstrate at least 6 of the following terms from geometry:
similar, congruent
point, ray, line
parallel, perpendicular, intersecting
circle
acute angle, right angle, obtuse angle
LANGUAGE ARTS: Select at least 3 of the following stories/fables/myths. Communicate the moral of each selected story/fable/myth with only 1 photo.
