CD Review: Foo Fighters - Echoes Silence Patience & Grace

For today's cd review I decided to write about the latest from the Foo Fighters.

I though I would never write a positive review of the Foo Fighters, but looks like I stand corrected.

I have listened to past Foo Fighters albums and I always thought they were nothing great. I admit it, I downloaded previous copies of older albums to sample and I just wasn't happy with them. I guess they had a track or two that were okay, but I swear I didn't keep the download. I deleted the download after a few tries of listening and I just couldn't get into them.

So lets fast forward to the present. The Foo Fighters have released another album called Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace. Hmmm, okay, I told myself to give the boys another chance. And the only reason I listened to the cd was because Kevin from The Fitcast podcast had recommended cd on his show.

So are ready for my thoughts? Another great cd has entered my collection! This one is in regular rotation on my ipod playlist. And what a relief it is that a NEWLY released cd has something I listening to regularly. And this is important because sometime I get the feeling that new music is just not good enough as it once was. But let's get back to the cd.

So I can say that I listened to the cd right through, no fast forwards or skip thrus. I enjoyed listening to every track on the disc. Here's a few of my personal favorites:

Summer's End
The Ballad Of The Beaconsfield Miners

The cd is a mostly a hard rock'in disc with two notable ballads; Summer's End & The Ballad Of The Beaconsfield Miners, both 5 star tracks.

In conclusion, a GREAT cd from beginning to end. Pick up your copy of Echos Silence Patience & Grace today from your local music outlet or Amazon.

Don't sue downloaders: producer

This DON WAS is a guy who's got a big point! Stop making CRAP records and we'll for the QUALITY!

Producer Don Was says the recording industry's crackdown on illegal music downloading is "wasting billions of dollars that people ought to be funnelling into making better records.''

"I've never heard of a business that prosecutes its customers. I understand what people are doing is a violation of intellectual property laws, but it's not right and it's outside the spirit of the way people make music," said Was.

Record labels have sued more than 26,000 people accused of violating copyright laws by downloading and sharing music online, saying they want to send a message to deter people from downloading music illegally.

"I really think the problem with the music business is not that kids are downloading songs, but that people started making crappy records and charging too much for them," Was said.

Since the iPhone plays music and you can load podcasts of Climax Radio Show on it, this article is totally relevant to us and our listeners.

Is it true or is this someone's crafty work in Photoshop?

Only time will tell in the highly anticipated announcement. This image was leaked from someone in somewhere and this is good news for Canadians salivating to sink their teeth into the new iPhone.

The ad tells us that you'll be able to own an iPhone for $499.99 on a three year contract. No word on how much monthly subscription fees will be, but if the fees from AT&T tell us anything, it's that it'll be one expensive package to maintain. Anyway, if this is true, word should be out VERY soon because you may be able to pre-order starting November 20th, 2007.

This is my first attempt at writing a cd review so please forgive me if my review isn't as good as other reviews found elsewhere. The whole point of this review is to provide more content to Climax Radio Show listeners. And now on with the review.

The cd I've chosen to review is Bon Jovi's Lost Highway cd. In a nutshell, this is a great cd. And if you haven't heard, it's a cd with a country flair to it. Now I'm no 'country' man, but I love this country cd.

Bon Jovi know how to rock, but now they rock with a pleasant country flavour. This cd has everything from fast moving tracks to the slow ballads that Bon Jovi is known for.

Here are my personal favorites from the disc:

Lost Highway
Summertime
We got It Going On
Any Other Day

In my opinion, this is a cd to have in your collection, it's well put together and I think you'll enjoy it just as much as I did.

Today is upgrade day!

We're giving Climax Radio Show a cool sleeker look. The upgrade will be happening though out today (Saturday) with little disruption as possible. These changes will be done on the fly so bare with us.

Thank you to everyone that took the time to download EPISODE 1, (mic troubles aside and those technical difficulties will not be repeated again), and got themselves a taste of CLIMAX RADIO!

EPISODE 1 was a "Hello" to the music business that we are here and ready to drag you kicking and screaming into our world. We were heavy on the big commercial content, as we must be when introducing ourselves. We want people to know that we can speak intelligently about music, first and foremost. We are here to promote what YOU are missing on the radio; what YOU want to hear played and spread through the airwaves. You don't want some rank amatures talking about the music you love.
