Clinical trials plays an important role in discovering new treatments for many diseases as well as new ways to detect, diagnose, and reduce the risk of disease. Clinical trials show researchers what does and doesn’t work in people. Clinical trials also help researchers and doctors decide if the side effects of a new treatment are acceptable when weighed against the benefits offered by the new treatment.

Researchers don't know what the results of clinical trials will be. (If they did, they wouldn't have to do the trials.) This uncertainty can make it hard to decide if you want to participate in clinical trial. In rare cases, clinical trial volunteers have been hurt by the treatment or procedure being tested. At the same time, hundreds of thousands of people have been helped and are alive because other people chose to participate in a trial that resulted in a new, more effective treatment. While clinical trials are important, the choice to participate in one is very personal and depends on your unique situation.Clinical trials are just one type of research that's done before a new treatment becomes available to people. New medicines must first be discovered, purified, and tested in preclinical trials before researchers even think about clinical trials.

Clinical research is a booming sector and is a billion dollar
industry and has emerged as a popular career choice globally,
especially in India .

Indian pharmaceutical industry is one of the fastest growing sectors of the Indian economy and has made rapid stride over years.

India is the second largest pharmaceutical market in Asia growing by more than nine percent annually.

As per experts review there are more than 50,000 jobs in clinical research in India.

Clinical research is a safe and stable career option.

Moreover, India being a land of diversity where ayurvedic, unani,
siddha, and homeopathy are practiced same as allopathy, clinical studies
for evaluation of various systems of medicine can also be conducted
with ease.

Owing these immeasurable factors, India is attracting collaborative
contract proposals for conducting clinical trials and many entrepreneurs
have already come forward to set up their clinical research
organizations.

India is fast emerging as a favored destination for clinical trials
outsourcing. The clinical trial market in India was around $ 1 Billion
in 2010 and is growing around 35% from then. It has been estimated that
India will need around 1,50,000 Clinical Research Professionals in the
year 2012. It is a continually expanding industry, especially due to a
growing biotech industry. Individuals with training are coming to the
forefront of this industry due to the serious implications it can have
on the drug, device, and biologic approval process. In such an
environment it is important to understand the various organizations
involved in clinical research, their roles, responsibilities and the
career opportunities
