<p>Unfortunately the camera broke, but i managed to borrow one and take a few more snaps!</p>
<p><span id="more-138"></span>It was the monthly French Car meet at the ace cafe in London. This happens on the third Monday of every month, come winter, rain or shine you will always be able to see some much loved French cars.</p>
<p>After a chat with mr2haz, on the forums, from whom i was buying a new manifold for the project car we agree to meet up, grab a bite to eat and take a few snaps of the cars, as well as exchange money for the manifold.</p>
<p>Off i went round the North Circular, playing dodgems with the less than average driving skills and maneuvers adopted by London&#8217;s drivers!</p>
<p>I arrived there safely and waited for Haz to arrive&#8230; The gate staff would at first not let him in. He said to me that they only let it in because it has alloy wheels, they refused to believe it had a 2litre engine in it! For those that don&#8217;t know Mr Haz drives the ultimate sleeper wagon, a bog standard Clio, with a Williams engine in it&#8230; Caravan sticker and all (we are soon to feature his car on the website, check back soon).</p>
<p>After taking a few snaps of the cars my battery died, so i had to use Haz&#8217;s camera phone (which wasn&#8217;t to shabby!). Hopefully next month I will take some more pics, and with a bit of luck see you there!</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">A haggle of people around Haz&#8217;s engine bay!</p>

<p>These techniques would equally apply tho anyone doing a DIY wheel refurb at home, without the advantage of a spray gun and compressor. This is by far the most proffessional job i have seen done on the Clio Williams Wheels. Spot on finnish, and has taken the trouble to get the correct colour! Top job!!</p>
<p>Dont forget to comment, let us know what you think!</p>
<p><span id="more-133"></span><strong>1. Paint removal</strong> &#8211; Chemically stripping all the old paint by submerging the wheels in a chemical stripping tank. The wheels were then bead blasted.</p>
<p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCm7OQlxfI/AAAAAAAABiw/SRZdxGo7z1A/s800/IMG_2925.jpg"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCm7OQlxfI/AAAAAAAABiw/SRZdxGo7z1A/s200/IMG_2925.jpg" alt="IMG_2925.jpg" /></a></p>
<p><strong>2. Re-cutting the RIM</strong> &#8211; If like me you don&#8217;t want to spend &#8216;£20&#8242; !! on having the rims re-cut by machine, i thought of an alternative solution that gets good results.<br />
By using an electric sander with 120 grit paper i carefully went around the rim removing all the excess dinks and curbing whilst removing as little of the rim as possible. More will be covered on this later&#8230;.</p>
<p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCm8GanyWI/AAAAAAAABi0/gj2e25uscc0/s800/IMG_2923.jpg"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCm8GanyWI/AAAAAAAABi0/gj2e25uscc0/s200/IMG_2923.jpg" alt="IMG_2923.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCm-TqjMPI/AAAAAAAABi8/06STat4Xgy8/s800/IMG_2920.jpg"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCm-TqjMPI/AAAAAAAABi8/06STat4Xgy8/s200/IMG_2920.jpg" alt="IMG_2920.jpg" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCm9U9ztxI/AAAAAAAABi4/GzJl5LkU3zc/s800/IMG_2921.jpg"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCm9U9ztxI/AAAAAAAABi4/GzJl5LkU3zc/s200/IMG_2921.jpg" alt="IMG_2921.jpg" /></a></p>
<p><strong>3. Etch priming the surface</strong> &#8211; To ensure good paint adhesion to the metal i used a 1k etch primer as a 1st coat.</p>
<p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCm_R6-cJI/AAAAAAAABjA/oSXXcnfIfd0/s800/IMG_2926.jpg"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCm_R6-cJI/AAAAAAAABjA/oSXXcnfIfd0/s200/IMG_2926.jpg" alt="IMG_2926.jpg" /></a></p>
<p><strong>4. Priming the surface</strong> &#8211; After 24 hours room temperature dry time i then primed the wheels with 2K High build primer. This stuff is very good to ensure the surface is smooth covering all the minute imperfections of the alloy.</p>
<p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCnAXH9ueI/AAAAAAAABjE/d_sjhKbDXDU/s800/IMG_2932.jpg"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCnAXH9ueI/AAAAAAAABjE/d_sjhKbDXDU/s200/IMG_2932.jpg" alt="IMG_2932.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCnBohQs5I/AAAAAAAABjI/kDs7ZATr3UM/s800/IMG_2948.jpg"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCnBohQs5I/AAAAAAAABjI/kDs7ZATr3UM/s200/IMG_2948.jpg" alt="IMG_2948.jpg" /></a></p>
<p><strong>5. Polishing and cutting the Rim</strong> &#8211; As i had no machine lathe to cut the rim. I thought of jacking up the car on both sides on my RT.</p>
<p>I then fixed the wheel refurbs to the car and put the car in gear to spin the wheels. I also popped the bonnet and pulled on the throttle cable to spin the wheels faster whilst i placed some 120 grit paper on the Rim. This gave the rims a consistant groove in the rim. */thumbs up*</p>
<p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCm5bXqCSI/AAAAAAAABio/HhTamUn4jHY/s800/IMG_2956.jpg"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCm5bXqCSI/AAAAAAAABio/HhTamUn4jHY/s200/IMG_2956.jpg" alt="IMG_2956.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCnCCTcB-I/AAAAAAAABjM/qDb8AQycw-8/s800/IMG_2957.jpg"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCnCCTcB-I/AAAAAAAABjM/qDb8AQycw-8/s200/IMG_2957.jpg" alt="IMG_2957.jpg" /></a></p>
<p><strong>6. Base coat using speedline gold R9312</strong> &#8211; The gold paint I used is the offical Akzol Noble code supplied by Speedline Corsa. This code has been checked with Akzol Noble and the UK conversion is R9312.</p>
<p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCnDSqgaRI/AAAAAAAABjQ/gbhkQXrFDP0/s800/Williams_Gold_Code.jpg"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCnDSqgaRI/AAAAAAAABjQ/gbhkQXrFDP0/s200/Williams_Gold_Code.jpg" alt="Williams_Gold_Code.jpg" /></a></p>
<p>When spraying I use a Devilbiss GTi HVLP gun its excellent for tops coats.</p>
<p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCnEqqGaAI/AAAAAAAABjU/zZ0c-YlfU2M/s800/IMG_2937.jpg"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCnEqqGaAI/AAAAAAAABjU/zZ0c-YlfU2M/s200/IMG_2937.jpg" alt="IMG_2937.jpg" /></a></p>
<p>I also hang the wheels up when spraying as it avoids the dust.</p>
<p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCnFepQd7I/AAAAAAAABjY/3Sdouarv0kM/s800/IMG_2960.jpg"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCnFepQd7I/AAAAAAAABjY/3Sdouarv0kM/s200/IMG_2960.jpg" alt="IMG_2960.jpg" /></a></p>
<p><strong>7. cleaning the rim</strong> &#8211; After each coat of paint i cleaned the rim with paint thinners and a clean rag. Ready for the &#8216;Top coat&#8217;</p>
<p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCnGDW7I9I/AAAAAAAABjc/sTrDoVaSirU/s800/IMG_2959.jpg"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCnGDW7I9I/AAAAAAAABjc/sTrDoVaSirU/s200/IMG_2959.jpg" alt="IMG_2959.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCnG9og8KI/AAAAAAAABjg/UgvIsGheTok/s800/IMG_2958.jpg"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCnG9og8KI/AAAAAAAABjg/UgvIsGheTok/s200/IMG_2958.jpg" alt="IMG_2958.jpg" /></a></p>
<p><strong>8. Top Coat</strong> &#8211; Ensure the surface is dust free. My advise is top coat one at a time unless you have a professional spray room. Their&#8217;s too much dust floating about when spraying 4 wheels on top coat. Confused</p>
<p>I used Lessonal 2pac lacquer with fast hardener. drying time is less than 12 hrs.</p>
<p>Really be liberal with the spraying especially on the rim.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCnIBoqnlI/AAAAAAAABjk/YXdiu8JylzM/s800/IMG_2971.jpg"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCnIBoqnlI/AAAAAAAABjk/YXdiu8JylzM/s200/IMG_2971.jpg" alt="IMG_2971.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCnI9qOm2I/AAAAAAAABjo/orO9tfcaD2E/s800/IMG_2976.jpg"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCnI9qOm2I/AAAAAAAABjo/orO9tfcaD2E/s200/IMG_2976.jpg" alt="IMG_2976.jpg" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCnJiKEivI/AAAAAAAABjs/7IJQT2bs50s/s800/IMG_2975.jpg"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCnJiKEivI/AAAAAAAABjs/7IJQT2bs50s/s200/IMG_2975.jpg" alt="IMG_2975.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCnKe2fvuI/AAAAAAAABjw/xYfsIIlxfKg/s800/IMG_2974.jpg"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SmCnKe2fvuI/AAAAAAAABjw/xYfsIIlxfKg/s200/IMG_2974.jpg" alt="IMG_2974.jpg" /></a></p>

<p>It is a very exciting experience driving your car on a race track, with out the fear, or restriction imposed on you by the public roads. You are free to push the limits of your car and experience why Renault Sports cars are so great (even tho they do break down too much!)</p>
<p><span id="more-116"></span>Product Managers and Renaultsport experts will be on-hand to listen to your views and questions and share their experience with you. The support team, consisting of the instructors and track marshals will be on hand to give you any advice you may require and to control the safety rules of the day.</p>
<p>I already know a lot of Clio&#8217;s will be attending, and it is a great day, with a chance to meet some new faces and get a look at some really good looking cars. There will also be the chance to book additional tuition with an instructor in your own car for just £15, to really show you how to push your car to its limits!</p>
<p>Here are some pics of Cadwell Park 2007:</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SlNKbllW9NI/AAAAAAAABY4/uJjshIBUgbE/s800/cadwellzzzone-115.jpg"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SlNKbllW9NI/AAAAAAAABY4/uJjshIBUgbE/s200/cadwellzzzone-115.jpg" alt="cadwellzzzone-115.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SlNKbO_bnKI/AAAAAAAABYw/G0IsMHoxL_A/s800/cadwellzzzone-63.jpg"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SlNKbO_bnKI/AAAAAAAABYw/G0IsMHoxL_A/s200/cadwellzzzone-63.jpg" alt="cadwellzzzone-63.jpg" /></a></p>

We will be featuring the car a lot on the site, an hopefully using it as a test bed for products and ideas.</p>
<p>If you have anything you would like us to feature, or a guide that we could write to help you with your car, let us know!</p>
<p>I hope you enjoy!!</p>
<p><span id="more-109"></span>Before we can get cracking and show you the project car, I needed some space for it. This meant cleaning out my lockup garage, so with a little help from the oldies and there tow-bar equipped car, we had an early start one Saturday to collect the trailer and load it up, in order to get to the scrappy before closing at lunch!</p>
<p>We started our trip to a place near St Albans to collect the trailer, and then come all the way back around the M25 to West London where our garage is located.</p>
<p>After a lot of heavy lifting (the front end on the car we had to dispose of had been sold!) and pushing and shunting the car into position we go the shell onto the trailer. We were already behind schedule, but off we went to the local scrap yard. Its located 2miles down a lane next to our local rubbish dump. Just about to make the turn after charging down some back-roads, to make up time. We see the road is closed! We are diverted all the way around a rather large farm, to enter the lane from the other end. At this point we had 10 mins till the scrappy shut. I decided to make the sacrifice and ran down the closed road to try and stop them shutting the yard before my  mum and the car would get there! After she had completed the 30min detour i let her into the yard. The rest went pretty smoothly, drove up onto the weight bridge, then into the yard.</p>
<p>I was greeted by a Polish man who i asked if i could whip the wheels off the car after he had grapped it. He agreed and climbed into his grabber crane. Lifted the shell off the trailor, i pulled the wheels off, under a shower of glass from the rear windows&#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/Sk_B79dM6kI/AAAAAAAABI0/HD1XTZu1F-c/s800/IMG_0852.jpg"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/Sk_B79dM6kI/AAAAAAAABI0/HD1XTZu1F-c/s200/IMG_0852.jpg" alt="IMG_0852.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/Sk_B8w4AHXI/AAAAAAAABI4/uw35HUBOqFY/s800/IMG_0853.jpg"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/Sk_B8w4AHXI/AAAAAAAABI4/uw35HUBOqFY/s200/IMG_0853.jpg" alt="IMG_0853.jpg" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/Sk_B-GZuwsI/AAAAAAAABI8/jhZJZzXSKSs/s800/IMG_0854.jpg"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/Sk_B-GZuwsI/AAAAAAAABI8/jhZJZzXSKSs/s200/IMG_0854.jpg" alt="IMG_0854.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/Sk_B_NLGhbI/AAAAAAAABJA/T2JUsb71H4w/s800/IMG_0855.jpg"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/Sk_B_NLGhbI/AAAAAAAABJA/T2JUsb71H4w/s200/IMG_0855.jpg" alt="IMG_0855.jpg" /></a></p>
<p>I went to say thanks to the lady in the weigh bridge for letting up nip in. She insisted that we should get £50 for the car, i was shocked, but didn&#8217;t hang around long for her to retract the offer! Off we went to collect the new project car. It was located locally at one of my friends houses. I bought it off a friend who was only its second owner and i knew all its history.</p>
<p>More pushing and pulling, as the engine had broken in it and i had removed it to sell on, but at least we had 4 wheels and the ability to steer it. So using the winch on the trailor we were on our way in no time, after arriving back at the garage which would be its new home, we took a few pics of the car&#8230;</p>
<p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/Sk_IZbuUG8I/AAAAAAAABJI/bhMQk8bE-fc/s800/IMG_0857.jpg"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/Sk_IZbuUG8I/AAAAAAAABJI/bhMQk8bE-fc/s200/IMG_0857.jpg" alt="IMG_0857.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/Sk_Ib7r4DiI/AAAAAAAABJY/qxCYbvXpHlo/s800/IMG_0861.jpg"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/Sk_Ib7r4DiI/AAAAAAAABJY/qxCYbvXpHlo/s200/IMG_0861.jpg" alt="IMG_0861.jpg" /></a></p>
<p>The trailor was a bit on the small side, i think next time i will get a larger one!</p>
<p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/Sk_IaDdT1rI/AAAAAAAABJM/8Rb4vK_bqnk/s800/IMG_0859.jpg"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/Sk_IaDdT1rI/AAAAAAAABJM/8Rb4vK_bqnk/s200/IMG_0859.jpg" alt="IMG_0859.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/Sk_IbA52EMI/AAAAAAAABJU/DYTxjNl1yyw/s800/IMG_0860.jpg"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/Sk_IbA52EMI/AAAAAAAABJU/DYTxjNl1yyw/s200/IMG_0860.jpg" alt="IMG_0860.jpg" /></a></p>
<p>The car is a complete Williams rep. Wide track, wheels, engine and interior. The interior is a thing of beauty, as if it had come from a showroom. I cant bear to part with the blue dials, so they are staying, but i have sold on the rear seats, it is going to be a track car after all!</p>
<p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/Sk_IdBgdjjI/AAAAAAAABJc/ca_B4O2ZGu4/s800/IMG_0862.jpg"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/Sk_IdBgdjjI/AAAAAAAABJc/ca_B4O2ZGu4/s200/IMG_0862.jpg" alt="IMG_0862.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/Sk_Ids_lq6I/AAAAAAAABJg/DN4zQz5--q4/s800/IMG_0863.jpg"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/Sk_Ids_lq6I/AAAAAAAABJg/DN4zQz5--q4/s200/IMG_0863.jpg" alt="IMG_0863.jpg" /></a></p>
<p>More to come soon, including build specs and some pics of engine components, so stay tuned.</p>

The Clio illiams. This RAT look, hood ride was featured by Performance French Car Magazine in 2007.</p>
<p>It is very much a modern icon of Clio modding, hoodrides are something almost exclusively left to the VW fraternity (Dubbers). We let Winston explain how this legend was born and how it died (as all of Winstons cars seem to do&#8230; ending up in scrap heaven!) Enjoy.</p>
<p><span id="more-104"></span>After the RSi-brid I said to my self i was done with Clios for good&#8230; in the time between i had owned a BMW E30 325i, VW Caddy 1.6D &amp; 2x VW Mk1 Golf 1.1&#8217;s but they just didn&#8217;t have the pace or handling of the Clios and i wanted a car i could take on track.</p>
<p>A cheap Ph1 black 16V came up cheap on Clio16valver.co.uk&#8230; it had failed its MOT for being to low (very fitting lol).. So off i went to Scotland to pick the car up (cheers for the lift Gav!)</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOQLvzpEI/AAAAAAAAAow/M0qblhQUNCE/s800/06112006090.jpg"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOQLvzpEI/AAAAAAAAAow/M0qblhQUNCE/s200/06112006090.jpg" alt="06112006090.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOQaKE_eI/AAAAAAAAAo0/iCgV8MOrsKs/s800/06112006097.jpg"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOQaKE_eI/AAAAAAAAAo0/iCgV8MOrsKs/s200/06112006097.jpg" alt="06112006097.jpg" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOQtbELpI/AAAAAAAAAo4/cA0DezqL74c/s800/06112006098.jpg"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOQtbELpI/AAAAAAAAAo4/cA0DezqL74c/s200/06112006098.jpg" alt="06112006098.jpg" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">I then tucked the car away till i could find a good Williams Clio engine for it.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">I found out King Stromba was breaking a Williams 2, so i got in touch with him and to cut a long story short I bought the hole car from him ish (minus interior, dash, wheels) and drove it back home&#8230; with the agreement to bring him back the brakes, body panels and any other parts from the list&#8230; my plan was to use the black valver as donor for any extra parts the Williams needed.. main reason for binning the valver was the sunroof (ive been rained on oh too many times !!)</p>
<p>Both cars at my mates yard&#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOQ1HVEeI/AAAAAAAAAo8/lEdK0qCd-PY/s800/28112006136.jpg"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOQ1HVEeI/AAAAAAAAAo8/lEdK0qCd-PY/s200/28112006136.jpg" alt="28112006136.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOQ0eicSI/AAAAAAAAApA/ZyYfmiaRYVY/s800/28112006135.jpg"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOQ0eicSI/AAAAAAAAApA/ZyYfmiaRYVY/s200/28112006135.jpg" alt="28112006135.jpg" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">After taking Strombas parts i was left with this&#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOREAmg9I/AAAAAAAAApE/I-qmXJWjPgg/s800/PICT1479.jpg"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOREAmg9I/AAAAAAAAApE/I-qmXJWjPgg/s200/PICT1479.jpg" alt="PICT1479.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTORuCSQSI/AAAAAAAAApI/zcoMckb-t-I/s800/PICT1478.jpg"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTORuCSQSI/AAAAAAAAApI/zcoMckb-t-I/s200/PICT1478.jpg" alt="PICT1478.jpg" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTORoDbUqI/AAAAAAAAApM/9mNhCq5ZmI0/s800/Illiamsinterior02.jpg"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTORoDbUqI/AAAAAAAAApM/9mNhCq5ZmI0/s200/Illiamsinterior02.jpg" alt="Illiamsinterior02.jpg" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">I painted some steel wheel i had matt black and fitted my fibreglass bonnet shell from my old black hybrid..</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOR2s0zAI/AAAAAAAAApQ/nzN3MDs8tAI/s800/PICT1491.jpg"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOR2s0zAI/AAAAAAAAApQ/nzN3MDs8tAI/s200/PICT1491.jpg" alt="PICT1491.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOR8-R9EI/AAAAAAAAApU/eIYfP4JPUWI/s800/PICT1493.jpg"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOR8-R9EI/AAAAAAAAApU/eIYfP4JPUWI/s200/PICT1493.jpg" alt="PICT1493.jpg" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">The results&#8230; looking very slag!</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOSDM3g9I/AAAAAAAAApY/-CmoB62n7B4/s800/13012007192.jpg"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOSDM3g9I/AAAAAAAAApY/-CmoB62n7B4/s200/13012007192.jpg" alt="13012007192.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOSJKfIbI/AAAAAAAAApc/kSuoaq0fT0E/s800/13012007194.jpg"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOSJKfIbI/AAAAAAAAApc/kSuoaq0fT0E/s200/13012007194.jpg" alt="13012007194.jpg" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">I removed all the sound deadening tar, as the Williams has alot more than the valvers. A nice little weight saver.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOSZ5PL6I/AAAAAAAAApg/xmISnTPE6Ik/s800/13012007198.jpg"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOSZ5PL6I/AAAAAAAAApg/xmISnTPE6Ik/s200/13012007198.jpg" alt="13012007198.jpg" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">The Williams was starting to look rather ill and ratty&#8230; I got my stanley knife blade out and the illiams was born!</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOSs9PmYI/AAAAAAAAApk/iPqHqbK8Hec/s800/PICT1528-1.jpg"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOSs9PmYI/AAAAAAAAApk/iPqHqbK8Hec/s200/PICT1528-1.jpg" alt="PICT1528-1.jpg" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">The stenciled bonnet and the bees nest as Ali called it&#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOSkz56cI/AAAAAAAAApo/h07Qs9Ew2HE/s800/PICT1531.jpg"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOSkz56cI/AAAAAAAAApo/h07Qs9Ew2HE/s200/PICT1531.jpg" alt="PICT1531.jpg" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Refitted the Williams tailgate and illiams&#8217;d it!</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOS7fQeoI/AAAAAAAAAps/Tgxk1r8TM5o/s800/PICT1536.jpg"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOS7fQeoI/AAAAAAAAAps/Tgxk1r8TM5o/s200/PICT1536.jpg" alt="PICT1536.jpg" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">In order to dave more weight I removed the aux fuel tank.. which ment i could fit my phase 1 filler cap&#8230; BONUS!</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOTJS_ExI/AAAAAAAAApw/QRhfpE-cRP8/s800/PICT1565.jpg"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOTJS_ExI/AAAAAAAAApw/QRhfpE-cRP8/s200/PICT1565.jpg" alt="PICT1565.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOTeFPCaI/AAAAAAAAAp0/cC44KNsKf4w/s800/PICT1576.jpg"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOTeFPCaI/AAAAAAAAAp0/cC44KNsKf4w/s200/PICT1576.jpg" alt="PICT1576.jpg" /></a></p>

<p style="text-align: center;">Now its wheel time again!&#8230; I needed something ratty, but super light weight, I found these BBS RS on eBay and just had to have them.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">They needed the centerd bored out from 57.1 to 60.1, so i sent them away to be done, but they broke the machine lol. Instead i used a flip wheel to do it!</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOTrpsDuI/AAAAAAAAAp8/Lj4OXtesxmg/s800/PICT1678.jpg"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOTrpsDuI/AAAAAAAAAp8/Lj4OXtesxmg/s200/PICT1678.jpg" alt="PICT1678.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOT1Oi2NI/AAAAAAAAAqA/MSui7kFqnlg/s800/PICT1684.jpg"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOT1Oi2NI/AAAAAAAAAqA/MSui7kFqnlg/s200/PICT1684.jpg" alt="PICT1684.jpg" /></a></p>

<p style="text-align: center;">Time for FCS 07. I didnt have to do alot of prep for this, just a few stickers and a quick wash! (I also fitted a side exit exhaust)</p>

<p style="text-align: center;">At FCS the car was carded by the editor of PFC magazine&#8230; get in <img src='http://www.clioforum.net/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif' alt=':D' class='wp-smiley' /> &#8230; so the photoshoot followed at disused sugar factory</p>
<p>Few pics i took at the shoot.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOYCaIdiI/AAAAAAAAArc/-fzHttwN7lY/s800/P1000364.jpg"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOYCaIdiI/AAAAAAAAArc/-fzHttwN7lY/s200/P1000364.jpg" alt="P1000364.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOYCAX2kI/AAAAAAAAArg/qIt0YVQYT9c/s800/P1000411.jpg"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOYCAX2kI/AAAAAAAAArg/qIt0YVQYT9c/s200/P1000411.jpg" alt="P1000411.jpg" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">
<p style="text-align: center;">The day after the photoshoot I took the engine and gearbox out as they had already been sold at FCS.. just had to use the car for the shoot first, so I left the engine less illy sitting on my nans drive</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOYRqPxTI/AAAAAAAAArk/hWhjvXpI_18/s800/PICT2761.jpg"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOYRqPxTI/AAAAAAAAArk/hWhjvXpI_18/s200/PICT2761.jpg" alt="PICT2761.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOYRqPxTI/AAAAAAAAArk/hWhjvXpI_18/s800/PICT2761.jpg"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOYlQuhyI/AAAAAAAAAro/h-9BrFxJWBY/s800/PICT2769.jpg"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOYlQuhyI/AAAAAAAAAro/h-9BrFxJWBY/s200/PICT2769.jpg" alt="PICT2769.jpg" /></a></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Next step for The illiams was to turn into a real track car now&#8230; I had had my fun.. Question was what engine do i use&#8230;.?</p>
<p>First thought was a Ph1 172 engine, so i bought a written off 172 but ended up putting the engine up for sale as everyone else on Cliosport was starting Mk1 172 builds.</p>
<p>Lucky for me i found a 2.0 8V engine out of Formula Renault race car on eBay and he was willing to swap for the 172 engine</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOYg2pncI/AAAAAAAAArs/E5Qf0iCxObc/s800/663f_1.jpg"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOYg2pncI/AAAAAAAAArs/E5Qf0iCxObc/s200/663f_1.jpg" alt="663f_1.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOY0SUjeI/AAAAAAAAArw/LzzOj5XSiVg/s800/P1000904.jpg"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOY0SUjeI/AAAAAAAAArw/LzzOj5XSiVg/s200/P1000904.jpg" alt="P1000904.jpg" /></a></p>

<p style="text-align: center;">I also bagged to of the wheels from the donner race car!!</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOZVpdV-I/AAAAAAAAAr8/v0aUIHaNVss/s800/P1000921.jpg"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOZVpdV-I/AAAAAAAAAr8/v0aUIHaNVss/s200/P1000921.jpg" alt="P1000921.jpg" /></a> <a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOZqolE0I/AAAAAAAAAsA/8SmqKZN-nFE/s800/PICT2794.jpg"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOZqolE0I/AAAAAAAAAsA/8SmqKZN-nFE/s200/PICT2794.jpg" alt="PICT2794.jpg" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">I trail fitted them (14*8J wheels)</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOZiAWyPI/AAAAAAAAAsE/griI8jAptvE/s800/PICT2805.jpg"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkTOZiAWyPI/AAAAAAAAAsE/griI8jAptvE/s200/PICT2805.jpg" alt="PICT2805.jpg" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Fitted some bucket seats&#8230;</p>

<p style="text-align: center;">Then it all went a bit stale and everything sat doing nothing, I was busy doing other things to other cars&#8230;. Then my ex found out Stromba had a rust free Williams 1 shell, which i ended up swapping for the race engine, then i needed the space to build that car so illy had to go&#8230; broke my heart but i had no where to keep the car <img src='http://www.clioforum.net/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif' alt=':(' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>

Be sure to look in the project section for the latest updates (be sure to pack your sunglasses)!</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">His latest mod is a group A/N MAXI air scoop, sent over from a French Renault tuning company.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The kit uses the Renault V6/172 airbox and an adaptor to connect it all up the the throttle-body. The setup was featured on the rally cars, and is the most efficient air intake system around taking high pressure COLD air from the scuttle panel just below the windscreen.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><span id="more-94"></span>I myself am working on the Clio forum project car, and have just been trying to make one of these scoops. They sell for a fortune on French eBay which i couldn&#8217;t justify. When i saw Speeds project log I had to get in touch and find out all i could!</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">I was told that the scoop was bought from France from a company called MC Racing SA. There website can be found here: <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.mcracingsa.com/">http://www.mcracingsa.com/</a></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">I found it worked with google translator.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">Are the items concerned. I had to speak to Speed, as i couldn&#8217;t find them on the Clio section of the site. Apparently these items are actually for the Megane 1. There is a carbon (which i will be buying) option and a black polycarbonate version which Speed has fitted to his car.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">He said &#8220;fitment is very easy, just a few sparks with an angle grinder and a few bolts&#8230; job done!&#8221;</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkrT_4_RwFI/AAAAAAAAAuo/iKFUdlS_FDo/s800/DSCF2531.JPG"><img class="alignleft" style="margin: 2px;" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Nap3N6mOvhQ/SkrT_4_RwFI/AAAAAAAAAuo/iKFUdlS_FDo/s200/DSCF2531.JPG" alt="DSCF2531.JPG" width="200" height="150" /></a>The first job is to remove the standard air-box and battery to make some space in the engine. With this setup you will need to relocate your battery to the boot to make space for the huge airbox!</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Next remove your screen washer bottle and cut a section out of your scuttle panel to fit the scoop. This is done easily with an angle grinder. Make sure you mark before you cut and cover up your engine bay etc you don&#8217;t want sparks flying all over it and metal shavings getting anywhere they shouldnt!</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">I fitted a rubber edge to the cut to stop the metal cutting into the air box. I suggest you do the same.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">You will also need to move the header tank over to make space for the airbox, i just drilled out the top rivet of the mount and lent it over.</p>

<p>He explains to us why his Valliams, an iTB&#8217;d, cammed animal of a hybrid failed back in 2008 on the way to the French Car Show. There is more to come from the lord, with is CUP brid. But thats another story!</p>
<p><span id="more-69"></span></p>
<p>&#8220;I wascruising along the motorway at 70-80ish in 5th, fast lane.. the oil light comes on and pressure guage drops rapidly, switched vally off, into neutral and coasted to a stop, to be rescued by the AA. Fault to blame was the bevel gear which directs drive from the timing belt, along a shaft and down into the oil pump which sits in the sump. Due to the brutal&#8217;e oil pump relief spring setup, it was too much pressure to sustain and the gear gave up causing the same effect as if the oil pump itself just let go.<br />
The strip down at my garage saw metal floating in the sump (from the bevel gear &#8211; which hadn&#8217;t been sucked into the oil pickup due to it&#8217;s major failure anyway) and the crank had started changing colour. The cylinder bore looked to be in good condition still, the piston&#8217;s &amp; rings looked good and the mains/big ends hadn&#8217;t picked up. I thought sod it&#8230;.Ordered through some over-siezed Wossner 12.5:1 high comp pistons &amp; catcams con-rods through MR Stanley. Blocks been over-bored, cranks been re-ground &amp; balanced (for future plans) with over-sized bearings.&#8221;</p>
<p>We have a huge ammount of picture content of an animal of a car. Enjoy!</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">&#8220;My friends daughter has helped in the build so far&#8230;&#8221;</p>

<p style="text-align: center;">&#8220;Got cracking on today. Ditched the pattern oil pump for a genuine pump, fettled with the sump, got it all ready for the head. <p style="text-align: center;">&#8220;Spark plugs, oil filter &amp; crank seal turned up today. The reason I ordered the genuine spark plugs was due to the fact I remember the NKG BKR6EK patterns were longer than the factory spec items. They are infact quite abit longer and the pattern should be binned imo when running a high comp block. The following pictures show this FAIL product&#8230;.&#8221; You can see why in our guides section.. <a href="http://www.clioforum.net/guides/clio-williams-valver-spark-plugs/">Clio spark plugs guide</a></p>

<p>I would like to thank Cliolord for letting me know about this, as I had fitted pattern parts to my high compression track car engine, before whipping them out and fitting parts from Renault.</p>
<p>The danger is that with the high comp pistons the crown will touch the spark plug / the spark will be very very close to the piston yielding less than best ignition conditions.</p>
<p>The pictures say it all&#8230;.</p>
