Metal Frame Chassis

The realistic high strength c-channel chassis frame is made of durable steel with cross bracing for reinforcement and is held together with all hex hardware. Realistic looking frame and cross braces improve chassis rigidity (torsional stiffness). Realistic shock hoops with multiple shock mounting positions allows you to adjust your suspension for maximum performance. The simplified design makes maintenance and assembly quick and easy. Light Buckets

2.4GHz Radio System

Controlling the Savage XS Flux is easy with the HPI TF-40 2.4GHz radio system. No need to worry about changing crystals, the radio prevents frequency conflicts automatically. The TF-40 pistol grip transmitter features adjustments for steering trim, throttle trim, steering dual rate, end points, servo reversing switches, low battery indicator, and a 3rd channel for optional accessories. The 3 channel receiver is equipped with a failsafe system for maximum safety.

Waterproof Electronics

The Savage XS Flux has a waterproof receiver box to keep the 2.4GHz receiver protected from the elements for glitch-free operation. A new SF-10W waterproof steering servo and a waterproof VAPOR Pro electronic speed control mean your Savage XS Flux won’t be stopped by wet conditions.

Flux VEKTOR 4000 Motor

The Flux VEKTOR 4000 motor delivers massive power – plenty of juice for instant wheelies and standing backflips! Option pinion gears are available to fine-tune the speed and torque delivery! The brushless design assures maximum performance with nearly no maintenance required.

Flux VAPOR Pro ESC

With the capacity to handle 2S and 3S LiPo power, the Flux VAPOR Pro electronic speed control can take anything you can possibly throw at it and keep coming back for more! The VAPOR Pro features an integrated cooling fan to keep it cool in tough conditions. The Flux VAPOR Pro ESC is reversible so you can back out of jams with ease. And for maximum adjustability it’s fully programmable with our optional #100573 USB Programming Kit.

LiPo Battery Power

The Savage Flux XS is designed to use 2S or 3S LiPo packs. The battery box features vents to keep the battery pack cool, and we suggest using an official Deans® zero-loss battery plug to match the plug on the ESC.

All-Metal Transmission Gears

The Savage XS Flux features all-metal transmission gears to make sure that power delivery is uninterrupted and every jolt of power gets from the motor to the tires efficiently and with no worry of damage to the gears. The whole drivetrain runs on ball bearings for optimal efficiency, extra-long runtimes and mega-fast top speeds!

All-Terrain Tires

With the aggressive tread of the 2.2″ GT2 tires, you can go off-road to on-road with predictable handling. The center tread lines give you stability on paved surfaces while the blocky tread pattern and heavy-duty sidewall teeth provide grip for off-road terrain like dirt, mud, muck, leaves. They’re mounted on black chrome 2.2″ Warlock wheels for tough monster truck styling.

Silicone Filled Threaded Shocks

Four threaded shocks give the suspension action you need to get out and blast through the roughest of tracks or off-road terrain. Filled with silicone oil, the slick nylon bodies are lightweight and strong, with almost no ‘stiction’ between the shock piston and shock body for smooth and consistent damping.

Compatibility

For maximum hop-up potential, the Savage XS Flux accepts a wide variety of 1/10th scale 2.2″ wheels and tires, along with standard 1/10th scale servos, batteries, receivers and electronic speed controllers.

Designed to accept stick packs and 2 cell lipo packs, the SC chassis features an adjustable battery mounting position that allows you to shift weight bias to suit track conditions and your driving style.
• Transmission – Features an externally adjustable three-gear design with an internal ball differential that uses standard 3/32inch diff balls and 1/16inch thrust balls. Includes tight-fitting molded dust cover to protect pinion and spur gear.
• Rear Suspension Symmetry – The arms are symmetrical so a single replacement arm can be used on either side of the car. The inside of the arms are attached to the chassis using separate suspension mounts, which will allows anti-squat adjustment. Vertical ball studs for both ends of the upper link suspension geometry can be fine-tuned with shims.
• Floating Axles – While floating axles ride in bearings that are mounted in the hub instead of the wheel, this moves the weight of the bearings inboard for more responsive suspension. The bearings are under less stress, and they’re better shielded from the elements.
• 12MM Hex Wheel Hubs – 6 contact points spread the load on the wheel to prevent stripping and the larger, flat mounting surface keeps the wheels running straight and true.
• Steering Assembly – The steering bellcranks are mounted on the chassis at the same angle as the suspension arms. This eliminates bump steer and produces more accurate Ackermann geometry throughout the entire range of steering motion. The steering plate (center link) features horizontally mounted ball studs, which means the Ackermann can be fine tuned by using shims behind the ball studs offering a nearly infinite range of adjustments.
• Captured Hinge Pins – A simple button head screw captures all the outer hinge pins of the Ultima SC. The rear inner hinge pins are truly captured between the suspension mounts, and the notched inner front pins are secured with a setscrew through the front suspension mount. This means that the hinge pins are much more secure and less likely to come loose.
• Efficient Slipper Clutch – Features 2-piece slipper clutch that provides traction efficiency.
• Universal Swing Shafts – The SCR comes equiped with rear universal swing shafts giving you maximum performance with no power loss.
• Teflon Sealed Bearings – 10 super high performance Teflon sealed ball bearings are included as standard equipment, giving you the edge over the competition.

HPI Racing teams up with TSA Motorsports – In the name of Fun!

HPI RACING [Radio Controlled Vehicle Manufacturer] IS TEAMING UP WITH TSA MOTORSPORTS [1:1 Scale Off-Road Team]

HPI Racing is teaming up with TSA Motorsports’ Dallas Luttrell and Bill “Wild Bill” Billington for their efforts in going back to the roots of Off-Road competition – THE DESERT!

Dallas and Bill are the creative minds behind TSA Motorsports. Their approach to desert racing is a reflection of that creativity, very calculated, yet executed plain and simple. TSA’s newly developed truck is different than most, breaking the proverbial mold! Dallas and Bill are not just grasping at shooting stars… they have been studying and watching desert Off-Road racing and most interestingly, the global Off-Road scene with events such as the Dakar rally. They have studied how the Dakar Rally type vehicles differ when compared to the USA’s Trophy Trucks and how these vehicles handle the various terrain. They also studied the race strategies of different teams for these different types of terrain. For side-notes, they have studied the history books with a nod to Ivan Stewart for inspiration as well. Why all of these studies? Because TSA intends to learn their way to the top of the sport, to be a part of those few individuals who wish to try things differently. There are those who just want to go big and fast and follow the same “big trucks rule in the desert” theme. And there are those whose perseverance and dreams will fuel the passion for racing for a long time to come. TSA is here to stay!

The last couple of years, Dallas and Wild Bill have been whooping it across the desert in the SNORE Series in what some people call a “Pre-Runner” or even a desert capable street truck. For the sideline enthusiast, they saw what could be achieved with off-the-shelf retail parts in a 2008 Toyota Tacoma. TSA’s efforts landed them four Top-5 finishes in the 7200-class of the 2009 SNORE Off-Road Series. While the TSA team did not break any records or secure any major championships, for TSA, it had a lot more to do with mentality: the mental game and the approach with equipment. Adding to the facts, the Tacoma truck is not wildly different from any other desert truck. The TSA Tacoma is more like every truck sitting in the spectator parking lot. The Tacoma itself was its own experiment to learn from, but with a much larger plan brewing in the background.

TSA built a new truck and HPI Racing built a new truck…

Enter 2010 and lots of things happening in the background. The TSA Motorsports camp has been very secretive, quiet and very busy! Luttrell and Billington took the time while racing the Toyota Tacoma in 2009 to build an experimental chassis. With numerous test-design sessions, early 2010 they built another Chassis and tested more and finished up the creative design concept all while conspiring with HPI RACING.

Same time, HPI Racing was busy developing too, as HPI Racing’s USA based designer Hidekazu “Ito” Nishine has a passion for all things “truck!” Ito is the designer of the Nitro MT Series, the Wheely King/Crawler King Series and the HPI Savage Monster Truck, world famous for its brutal durability. Ito wanted to add a desert truck to his design milestones.

PROJECT MINI-TROPHY 4WD DESERT TRUCK
With TSA and HPI working on parallel Mini-Trophy desert projects, the highlight is TSA utilizing an independent suspension design base for their new 1:1 desert truck. Ito was thinking independent suspension as well and while normal for R/C, independent suspension is not so normal in the 1:1 off road race vehicles, especially with trucks. TSA is building this new truck to race in the 7200-class, basically a scaled down version of a trophy truck, more like a mini-truck that was once a 4-cylinder pick up truck. Most “mini-trucks” these days are not so “mini” and come with 6-cylinders, but compared to a 6,000+ lbs / 800 horsepower Trophy Truck, the 7200-Class is simply a “Mini-Trophy.” TSA is using an in-line Ford 6-cylinder HESCO built engine. HPI also likes the “Mini-Trophy” moniker and named this new [1:12 scale] 4WD desert truck accordingly. The SC8e RTR survives a grueling 375 mile course in 24 hours!

The SC8e is the first 1:8 scale electric 4WD short-course race truck to include high-performance features like the Mamba Max Pro brushless electronic speed control with the Neu-Castle 2200kV brushless motor, all digitally controlled by Associated’s XP3-SS 2.4GHz 3-channel radio system. The result is the SC8e RTR, where jaw-dropping scale realism meets race-bred high performance.

We didn’t stop at Rockstar looks and gnarly power. Team Associated has proven the performance and durability of the SC8e in R/C Car Action’s 24-Hour Thrash Test, where the truck was driven over 375 miles at race speed through rugged off-road terrain for 24 consecutive hours. This would have been a brutal test for any scale off-road race truck, but the SC8e RTR endured 375 miles of dirt with the original electronics, suspension, drivetrain and body intact. With only one tire change throughout the run, this was truly an amazing accomplishment and testament to the durability of the SC8e RTR!
