On Your Bike to Bally – May 5th

On Sunday May 5th Ballyporeen GAA will hold a Fundraising Cycle in Ballyporeen. There are 80Km, 37Km and 11Km routes – so enough variety to suit cyclists of all abilities. The Cycle starts from the GAA field in Ballyporeen at 11.30am.

Registration is €20 and the price includes a BBQ and refreshments. Family discounts are available.

Lios Mhuire 5K Sponsored Walk – June 8th

The committee organising a Barrack Hill Reunion on June 29th 2013 in association with the Gathering 2013 will organise a Fundraising Sponsored 5K Walk and Fun Pub Quiz on Saturday June 8th at Halley’s Bar, Clogheen. British King and Queen in Clogheen

Many thanks to Alan O’Brien for sending this on to the site. It is a scan of a newspaper report on Wednesday May 4th 1904 on the British King and Queen’s visit to Clogheen that year. They were travelling between Lismore and Shanbally Castle. The article describes the scenery in the Knockmealdowns as ‘perhaps the most beautiful in Ireland’ and references the Pole-Carew family who lived in the area until relatively recently.

Brian Borus Fashion Show – May 9th

Brian Borus Ladies Football Club are hosting a Fashion Show in St. Paul’s Community Centre, Clogheen on Thursday night May 9th at 8.30pm. Boutiques involved include Hickey’s of Fermoy, Carma (Fermoy). The Doll’s House, Mister Mister, The Wardrobe, Off the Rails, Claire’s Accessories, Style Lounge (Mitchelstown), Peaches Boutique (Kilkenny) and Pageant Boutique (Tipp Town). Wine and food will be served on the night and there will be half time entertainment.

U16 Football

Brian Borus Under 16 team played the County C semi-final last Sunday against Arravale Rovers in Tipperary Town. Brian Borus had the better of their opponents in the first half and looked like they had sealed their final spot. However, Arravale came out a different team in the second half and at the final whistle both sides were level on a scoreline of 6-8 each. It was a fair result after a thoroughly entertaining game of football. The replay will take place next weekend. Best of luck to the girls with that.

Table Quiz

The table quiz held for the club last weekend was very poorly supported. However, thanks to Seanie Lonergan, Tom and Mary Fahey for all their help. Thanks to those who turned up on the night. The winners were Marie Murphy, Noelle Ahearne, Mary Flynn and Margaret English.

Fashion Show

The club are hosting a fashion show on Thursday night, May 9th, in St. Paul’s Community Hall in Clogheen. It promises to be a great night so please support if you can.

Well done to Fr. Sheehy’s under 12 football team who beat Clonmel Commercials by 2-4 to 1-4 in the final of the County Qualifiers at Clerihan on Saturday 20th of April and now look forward to a County semi final in a few week time.

Well done to Fr. Sheehy’s Juvenile players Ben Hyland & Colin English (pictured below) who played for the South Tipperary under 15 hurling team that won the Inter Divisional tournament at Toomevara on Saturday 20th of April beating Mid Tipp (2-5 to 1-7) and North Tipp (2-6 to 0-7).

Tipperary Ladies Football League Victory over Leitrim

Well done to Jackie O’Gorman, Jennifer Grant, Mairead Morrissey and Trisha Hickey on their win in the Third Division League over Leitrim last Sunday (April 13th, 2013) with the Senior County team.

The team is now through to the semi-final of the league where they will play Armagh in two weeks time (April 28th) at 2pm in Mullingar.
