Great game. I’ve been going through it slowly, pretty much killing everything I see in sight and talking to everyone, cause I find it just that enjoyable. Some people I read seem amazed that after 10 hours of playing, they’re still on the first Disc. What’s the rush?! Welp, I’m up to 9 hours now and probably getting closer to next boss battle of the second planet.

Now *this* RPG really feels like my kind of RPG. I don’t have to worry about setting character attributes, the game provides alot of money with the bonus board lit up and from all the battles I jump into. Those two things bug me with some RPGs. Did others mean you put items in their shop for you to feel hopeless to purchase, or do they really think they’re making a korean grind mmo?

The battles I’ve had so far have been fairly easy and tends to get easier on the planet you’re staying at very quickly. It’s still very early in the game, so its definitely going to get more interesting later, but while its still easy breezy, I’m practicing on doing those blindsides! There’s still something about it I’m not getting down completely, though I think I will over time. What is it you exactly look for? You only have split second to react to the flashing guard indicator. Instead I’ve just been watching the monster itself for the moment its about to attack my character. That makes sense anyway right? Confusing tutorial o_o;

The voice acting is ok. The acting in the voice is good. It’s just the sound of some characters may be just too silly to bear. I’ve yet to see that though. From video’s I’ve seen online, I think the angel character will be the only one to bother me cause she might be so high ptiched sounding. Why can’t they just use a normal voice?

I feel I have to give graphics a rating here. I can’t rate anything else without having played through the whole thing. Mostly cause I heard a friend told me that another friend couldn’t stand the graphics, so I gotta say something here. I had the opportunity to play Enchanted Arms first before this and I still have to beat it so I can give it back to my college at work. To me it feels old, but I think Star Ocean beats it by a long shot, *most* of the time. Characters are fun to look at and really well detailed, more than you could really notice in battle. They could sometimes look like puppets for Thunderbirds - I don’t care for that though. I joke with my bother one some scenes, making right arm flap all around my head as if the string for it has malfunctioned. In one cut scene a close up of one of the monsters really surprised me. That big blue blob thing. A Gametailer review said that the maps sometimes were dull/bland, I think they’re ok, alot better than Enchanted Arms. Some places reminded me of the nice areas in Guild Wars. In the end, I’d give 7.5 or even 8 for graphics, cause its good, but not mind blowing.

I like that consoles encourages doing multi-player with someone next to you. Star Ocean is definitely not for that though. I feel that’s kind of unfortunate, cause the cut scenes are great and I’d like to watch them together with another person. Whenever I feel a cut scene coming up, I would tell whoever is closest to come watch. I think I’d be “hun fok” if I had a gamer girlfriend who would love watching as much as playing along… XD

I’ll say that this isn’t my full review and end it here. I’m gonna write more about Star Ocean when I feel like it ^^. You know, its a whole different perspective to know when a friend just burned the game to play while you bought it and really enjoy it. Not that I never realized this feeling would come, it doesn’t worry me much, but if Mahmud is reading this, he’s right, sometimes I just gotta be careful.

Anyway, there’s a whole ocean to explore! Calmus… engage!

The two pictures above are fairly nice I think, a warm feeling. I haven’t made an entry about getting the Xbox 360, but there’s nothing to really say about it that no one has really heard. Though I’m sure no otaku takes photos of their figures in front of their Xbox. I’m just that more gamey.

I got Tomoyo mostly for the hair and obivously cause I like the character. Her figure definitely beat the others made for Clannad. Notice this one is like, sorta warm, welcoming. While with some different camera settings and another angle, the one below is colder and maybe kind of evil looking.

I got my Haruhi nendoriod also in January also, which I should take photos of too I think. Though I feel kind of lazy to share on the net what everyone else has also done a million times over.

I feel that I have to keep track of my purchases coming up, cause I also want to get Star Ocean sometime in March. So what’s coming up?

Just got it on Friday. I went to get Street Fighter the day before, but then found out that my credit card has reached its limit for the month. I did buy like everything this month and haven’t yet blogged about it, so I guess I will soon. So on Friday I went back to Scarborough Town Centre and discovered that is was sold out at EB Games! They only had the collector’s edition, which I’ve figured isn’t worth the cost. Luckily, Best Buy is not far off, so I walked over to there and it was sold out there too! Best Buy was super empty, I think everyone had gone home after getting Street Fighter. The guy there was nice enough to suggest going to HMV. He said he had been telling others to try there all day, even though he doesn’t know for sure if they had anymore either. Well turns out he was right, HMV still had Street Fighter in stock! Plus it was $10 cheaper, what the price should really be, at $59, not $69. So I’m a happy gamer.

Welp, I can’t really talk about the game itself that much, since I haven’t played much street fighter before. -given it a chance before, but always gave up on the same day. So I’m not a big Street Fighter fan, but as I talked about before, I really felt like getting good at some fighting game now. I’ve been mostly playing verus with my brother. We played alot of the HD Remix demo while I was waiting for the release of SFVI and so I think we got fairly good at it. My player is kicking my Ryu ass with Ken alot now, but its always a very close match. I have alot of fun with it!

So I’m wondering like how am I gonna get far in this game, its gonna take me a long time for sure. I want to unlock the other characters soon, for the sake of having a full roster available to choose from, but learning the other character’s moves doesn’t seem all that easy to me. The game is definitely challenging me. Surprisingly though I got all the movies down for Ryu and I’m starting with simple two move combos. However, I don’t usually think about it when playing against my brother. Speaking of which, the challenge modes, which should be the real training mode, is GREAT. Very helpful. I hope there’s more players like myself that suck ass so I can enjoy LIVE play better. I’m certainly waiting for more friends to get the game too. I especially am looking forward to playing the game with a developer friend in korea.

While everyone doesn’t really like the intro song to the Street Fighter IV penning, I really enjoy it. -thought it was really fitting and it mixed well with the cool fight music afterward.

Then going on to the graphics, I think they fantastic. With the game being fully animated in 3D now, I have sorta a better idea of what is coming at me. Otherwise the earlier Street Fighters felt like watching still pictures that you can’t react to, like those cheap black and white hand held games. Yep. Sue me. Mom somehow liked the HD Remix graphics better though. She said that Ken and Ryu looked more like real people, while SFIV looks like toys.

I’m looking forward to the free DLC coming later. Championship Mode expansion its called, with replays, a new points system and ultimately a better match making system. That’s good news I think. I mentioned I want to play with more other crappy players such as myself. Seeing replays is nice too. Reminds me of another game. CheapyD on the CAGcast mentioned how this version is missing a lobby where your friends could spectate games together. Hope that is coming back to Street Fighter IV.

Looks like I wrote alot already, so I’ll make it this a jump to read on more above, hehe. I’d like to hear more soon from what others are saying about Street Fighter, rather than reading game reviews which all say the same thing.

Yup I’m decided. I’m gonna get me a console finally and its gonna be the Xbox 360. I was so into finding our what RPGs are on it, or will be on it, that I forgot about all the other awesome games that I had wished I could play before.

Gears of War 2 is definately get, especially after I realized that there is split screen play to it. It is definately gonna be alot of fun playing together with my brother. We never play anything together.. other than Priston Tale.

Then also, I feel that I need to get one fighting game. I got my eyes on Soul Calibur 4, but I’m not absolutely sure on it yet. It certainly looks good, but Street Fighter 4 looks just as kick ass to. They’re really different in style though.. however SC4 has the swords and other weapons that I’d like playing with.

Neither of these two would be a first to get though. Its gotta be an RPG. Make it Star Ocean!

Took me forever to think of that title for this entry. Alright, so what’s on my mind. Games. I’m asbolutely all for getting an Xbox 360 now. Can you believe how long it took to decide on choosing the Xbox. Ok, so I had alot of help this month to get somewhere. There’s inlufences coming from all over the place, so much that I wannt record my voice talking about it right now cause I can’t keep up by tpying this all. Phew, breathe. So I’ve been thinking, I gotta become an expert at something. It seems to me that I can’t be an expert of what I was originally thinking, programming that is, but I can certainly keep it as a hobby. I can accept that. It seems more and more that I want to have myself exposed thogh - well why else would I be blogging now right? CheapyD said something good about blogging on the last CAGcast, about blogging even if no one is reading. Cause blogging does end up becoming part of your profolio. I listened to a friend’s podcast on RPGamer and it reminded me, or made me really want to podcast again. Its really cool to talk about games and it doesn’t have to be serious. None of these podcasts are that serious. Though the people behind the voice you listen too are really smart people, I think. They’re real. Dammit I’m afraid there would be too many distractions while I’m writing all of this, that I would forget all the things I wanted to say here. So yeah, I really want to get back to podcasting again. Maybe I even want to be the one pushing it. Its just a shame for me I think, that I think my voice isn’t that cool. I’m not a good voice actor, though I wanna believe I could change that, or change my mind set. I need the practice. However before I can start podcasting, I need something to talk about! With that said I think I really wanna get more and more into the gaming scene. How can I be something in the gaming industry? I like thinking that I’m already in it, I consider myself to be part of the game industry since my job is being one of the guys maintaining a mmo game portal! So how can I be recongized for it though? I really want to move up from here, without moving away from my spot, cause I’m really comfortable here. So I think the answer is podcasting .. and website building. Gotta have something cool. Gotta advertise it and get people listening. Kinda like Dave at proatcooking.com, how did that come about? I realize they’re not capturing alot of attention, at least I don’t think, but the world is big, and your bound to get some people watch your creative stuff as there will also be people to say that your stuff is crap and move on. The only mistake we’re making here is not trying enough. It takes real dedication to get that ball rolling right? So Mahmud pointed out that probably I can contribute more to the podcast now that I play stuff on the DS and I’m gonna get the 360. I think we’re forgetting something here, I’m in the industry! Ok maybe that’s not all that true if you’re comparing me to the guy interviewing game designers on Gamespot. I’m on the publisher side now, its safe for me to say that. Yet the other side of this industry seems cooler, to talk about the games. I want to do it, I want to do it with good friends. I think for it to be done right though, my friends have to change, more exploring, less judging. Too much time is wasted. I gotta stop doing that. I think it makes alot of sense to take things beyond the consumer level. Ultimately thats what we’re doing here. We’re taking things that other people made to make money off of us to then talk about it for others to hear. Whether that be blogging about anime or talking about the games we play. Oh yeah now I remember, I’m missing a piece here and that is I gotta start writting about the game I’m playing. If I do that I can better voice it out. Okay, gotta do that. I’m not just thinking about it now. Been thinking about all this for some time now. I’m still trying to figure out what I want for this blog. It can be an anything blog thats fine, but to be really serious, its gotta be on its own website and focused. So ok, I think I’ll propose that among all the other projects I have with friends left hanging. I think we all have a similar dreams, I can’t say that podcasting is a dream, actually I don’t know what is the ultimate dream right now, but I just want to be doing something fun. That fun comes with a routine and smart planning. You can’t be dragging your ass or your friend’s asses together to one place when its sometimes obivously… really a drag! What else could I say. Its time to realize the truth about this work. There’s only dedication towards path that has no light at the end, there isn’t a desired result in the end to be expecting. The light at the end of the tunnel is there when you surprise yourself, not when you finally can think “we did it”. Cause the world is always changing, its an unless battle. But a battle that is supposed to be fun all the way through. It just takes one person to ruin it. The person ruining it is not the person who ruined it, but the person who ruined it for the first guy and no one else on the team can feel that. They’re only judging the end result. Judge the good stuff in between and allow that to spread out to the other parts. So my other friend in the game industry said you gotta be able to laugh at yourself, that fun! Stop giving me that weird look. I really want to install skype right now, or any other crappy thing and start podcasting! Its not podcasting for podcasting’s sake, but just for talking about the games. Its like sharing your experience of the game with others, you don’t have to share knowledge. The ‘want’ at the top of this pyramid is the experience. People want to experience what you experience. They want to know, the new knowledge of this world is knowing what the experience is and convincing others to seek out that experrience to enjoy for themselves. I love sharing what I feel about something, thats why I blog about the anime I watch quite a bit. But I don’t blog to tell others about the anime, I gave up on that cause I realized that it was wrong. This is already a huge wall of text that doesn’t flow properly at all. I kinda wanted to talk about Star Ocean: The Last Hope. I mean its what triggered me to start writing all this, though I don’t think I got it all down before getting side tracked. Sankakucomplex.com just made a post on Star Ocean, where the producer is said to have wanted to make an H game, but some was forced to do this rpg now. Star Ocean 4 is coming out in March I just realized, so if I want to talk about something new on a podcast, that would probably be the one, and I’ll use it as my deciding factor as when I’ll stomp into FutureShop and buy a 360. Right now through, I’m gonna stop typing crap and play my DS. Play it, so I can talk about it.

I want to make more posts of Toradora, so that it shows up in bigger text than Clannad on my Cloud Tag, cause I really think that this anime is awesome!! The characters to me have become the most believable ones in a long time. That is if my definition of believable counts. I thought Love Hina’s Naru was believable. XD

Its not an anime where a handful of girls are surrounding one guy or the fate of which characters like who are destined to be together. All characters have multiple sides to them and continuously affect and change each other. What I couldn’t believe is how amazing this anime would be before starting to watch it. Its still going on and I hope it really keeps going for a very long run. Actually.. maybe there’s a way to find out how many episodes there are, but I’d rather not know how soon the end is coming. *hopes for 40+ episodes*

Probably close to crossing another line too, but as long as I follow some made up rules, I believe I should be ok. Dad wasn’t too happy that I put this many orders down. Almost one order for every month for the next 6 months. Now the one I must absoluately not cross is breaking the 1 figure a month thing. That doesn’t mean that I would get one every month. Okay, so I’ll count that as one rule. Then the second one would be never to get a figure of a character I don’t know. If I don’t know it, then I have to learn about it first, while not breaking the first rule. Finally, the third rule… third rule is… Okay, I haven’t thought of that one yet, but everything should come in 3 - except for figures. Hmm, so not more then 3 kinds of the same character? Sounds like a lame rule, that won’t happen anyway.

Annnnnyway. I figured I would slap together a pic of the next 5 figures I have lined up! Haruhi is already shipped and coming my way I think, then next would be Tomoyo, Shana, Mikku Miku Kagami and finally Mizore! I put together this picture so I can happily wait for them to arrive ^^

Toradora has been really fun to watch, it’s really refreshing somehow. The characters have very different personalities from each other and even more different than those I’ve seen in other animes. Sakura was so so funny, his high speed blabbering is just unbeatable. The animations were damn funny too, especially when he gets styled with hard lines. (I’m not sure how else to explain that in words… -like he turns into an adult western comic character…. sorta.) I’m not sure how often you’d get to see a character like this in anime, though he was in my opinion the most crazy character, even though Dokuro-chan is out of this world. His lines and the way they were executed were the best. XD

Actually I just finished watching the first and now the second season of Rosario + Vampire. I didn’t know anything about this anime, in fact I got to know it first when I saw Mizore’s figure online and really wanted to order it! So I set out to learn more about this character, even though she’s sorta a side character.

Her character didn’t really play a significant role in the anime, so I’m kinda hoping that will be a little different in the manga. At the very least though, she had an episode focused on her, which made her a little more believable. (Or as believable a story about a youkai school can get!)

I came to realize that the person doing the voice acting for Mizore, Rie Kugimiya, who also did the voice of Shana! That’s kinda cool I think. So somehow I think I would like to see more with her voice talenet in it. That has lead me to just start watching Toradora!. I wouldn’t have bothered with this anime if not for this.

At the end of this Rosario + Vampire Capu2 though I felt almost a little sad that the fun was over. I always get sad at the end of an anime, even if its a happy ending, cause I would think that I may miss the characters. Especially the way Moka-san was described to be an illusion and Tsukune fought to bring her back. It makes me want to get the figure for Moka to feel like the story doesn’t end. o_O *Looks at the Moka’s PVC figure again* Eh, on second thought, its still not as good looking as Mizore.

I was kinda disappointed with the first series of Rosario + Vampire though. It seemed somehow that the second half of the series become a slideshow. Did the artists get really lazy?! It was really hard to watch and so I marathoned though it. I felt alot better watching the second season which was more animated. The story was, just not there, but it was still really fun to watch!
