American Revival Hits the MAC Mainstage, Friday, November 20, 8:00 PM

Drawing in acoustic, folk, country and bluegrass music, American Revival, featuring The Dixie Bee-Liners, Sierra Hull and Uncle Earl, will perform at the McAninch Arts Center Mainstage at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn.

American Revival highlights exciting young artists in an expansive repertoire of musical genres. Participating artists have performed at Telluride, MerleFest, the Grand Ole Opry and on Prairie Home Companion.

The Dixie Bee-Liners' recent album, "Ripe," sported two number one hits on Bluegrass Music Profiles' Top 20 Hot Singles and the Roots Music Report Bluegrass Chart. The sextet offers a custom blend of traditional and contemporary sounds, incorporating banjos, fiddles, guitars, mandolins and other instruments. The band currently is recording a bluegrass concept album.

Eighteen-year-old mandolin phenom Sierra Hull first took up the instrument a decade ago. In the years since, she's built a strong reputation for solid picking skills and has won several mandolin and guitar championships. She released her debut album, "Secrets," in 2008 and is lauded by critics for her tender and eloquent vocals.

The all-female Uncle Earl formed in 1999 and is steeped in the tradition of American music, with a contemporary, modern twist. The "g" "Earl" powerhouse string band is known for their infectious performances and toe-tapping melodies.

A free MAC Chat with the artists will be held prior to the Nov. 20 performance.

Tickets to American Revival are $40 for adults, $38 for seniors and $30 for College of DuPage students and youth.

Whole Foods Market - Win Holiday Dinner, Tuesday, December 1

Each Whole Foods Market in the Midwest is holding a contest where people can nominate loved ones (friends, associates, etc.) to win a holiday dinner for four people. Each store will award four families a holiday meal and there will be two rounds of entries (one round for Thanksgiving, and one round for Christmas), so people have double the chances to win per store.

Our goal is to provide families in need with a delicious, all-natural holiday meal to serve their family and hopefully make their holidays a little more positive - something anyone can appreciate!

We're calling the contest Deserving Dinners and we're hoping you can help us encourage people to enter those they know who are most "deserving." We're not asking for much, just a quick mention on your site to elicit more entries.

Each store's website offers more details, including what the meals consist of, how to nominate someone, and deadlines for entry.
