That’s my arm, and I’m currently wearing it out as the wallpaper on my phone, but damn if I don’t feel all powerful and such whenever I see it.

Uncle Crappy and I have pretty similar feelings about crab cakes and Facebook, so I’ll play along:

Do you think that ClumberKim:

…likes British accents? I married one, didn’t I? But seriously, I was a fan long before I met Mr C. And really it’s a Scottish accent that can make me go weak in the knees.

…likes blue eyes? I have nothing against blue eyes. My own are green and are one of the few features about myself I wouldn’t change if given the chance. My three favorite people have brown eyes. I think we’re all about equal opportunity around here.

… is part of the Mile-High Club? I leave that to the reader’s imagination.

…can cook? It’s something I love to do and can fake better than I fake anything else.

…has ever failed a class? No, but let’s just say there are some situations where getting mono can be a good thing.

…is a good driver? If memory serves, I haven’t had a ticket since 1988, nor an accident since then either. (Not the same incident.) I drive too fast sometimes and am prone to road rage. Don’t drive stupid and I won’t either.

…has good taste? I have my taste. You might think it’s good. More than likely, you won’t.

…recycles dirty underwear? No. I’d go commando first.

…will do anything to get what he wants? Nope. Was there ever a time when I would? Quite possibly.

…should pass on the chocolate cake? I probably should. But I probably won’t. (utterly lifted from Uncle Crappy)

…is hot? It’s August and I’m fat, so the answer is probably yes. (again, utterly lifted from Uncle Crappy) I

…thinks shopping at Walmart is classy? Walmart and classy are words I never thought I would see in the same sentence.

…has ever slapped anyone? Thought about it? Yes. Done it? No.

…spends more than an hour on Facebook every day? Good heavens no. Could I just have a sharp stick in the eye instead?

…has ever skinny dipped? Indeed.

…has ever eaten a booger? No. Saw a professor do it once though. Once seen, some things cannot be unseen.

…is a jerk? No doubt.

…has ever stolen money from friends? No.

…has ever cheated on a test? Yes. Not proud of it. Didn’t get caught but didn’t do it again either.

…was a dork in high school? Absofreakinlutely.

…has ever lied to avoid a date? Yep.

…is fun to be around? Sometimes.

…is cute? “Baby ducks are cute. I want to be exotic and mysterious.”

And I have a goal! Thanks to Susan, whose post about what to wear to BlogHer I really did print and hang in my closet, I have thought about what I want to get out of BlogHer. My main goal is to not get intimidated into paralysis, as happened after Mom 2.0 Summit. I had such a great time in Houston but I came back so awed by all the amazing women and their phenomenal writing that I was sure I had nothing to say that would measure up. Nothing. Maybe that’s true, but that’s also not a good enough reason to stop blogging. Write like nobody’s reading, or something like that.

I’ll be honest. It’s not the blogging that I love. I was not born to write. I don’t have a deep longing to express myself in words. What gets me jazzed is meeting people, hearing their stories, and connecting them with others to make great things happen. If I could find a way to do that every day getting up in the morning wouldn’t be much of a problem. Taking a few more steps in that direction is goal number two.

My third goal? Eat a burger at Shake Shack. (I know…but I want to be sucked in by the hype anyway.) Lastly, to enjoy a few days by myself, with no one calling me “mum” or “mama,” and absolutely no other behinds to wipe. Sleep a little, maybe.

I really cannot wait to be back in New York. I was going every year for a while, in February for the dog show. On my last trip I was very pregnant and spent 26 hours at JFK. I think the trauma has finally worn off.

Also? I have swag. Thanks to Sarah, who you should go see at her Sports panel on Saturday, I have these really cute coffee sleeves. Just say no to the disposable cardboard! Please ask me for one. It’s likely I won’t be brave enough to offer, despite not wanting to bring any of them home. And I have Civilettes from Greer Chicago. Also cute, also reusable, but so, so powerful. Chandra was so kind to send me some to share with my friends. If you like stationery, cards, and other beautiful things, you need to check out Greer. I should get back to packing. I didn’t lose that 40 pounds (yet!) so clothes are more than a little depressing just now. And I have a pretty scary haircut, too. But none of that matters, really. I plan to have a great time in New York, and to write both during AND after BlogHer.

Seriously. I don’t want to haul them back home, and I can’t think of a single relative who will want one. And if you’re in the market for custom goodies, Sarah is totally your source. She was easy to work with, fast, and made the whole process painless.

They were all talking about what she’s going to order for them when one kid asked what she was going to have. “You know what mommy gets,” she said. One of the middle kids piped up, “A margarita!!” She laughed and said,”That’s at night, honey, but I guess it’s 5 o’clock somewhere,” without missing a beat and with an unmistakable glint in her eye.

I wanted to high five her.
