German artist dust has a new solo show coming up at Gallery Hugo 45 this Saturday, May 18th in Braunschweig, Germany. The show is called Organic and it will feature new paintings, drawings, and sculptures shown on 120 square meters - that is a LOT of work! José Suris IV - Paper Sculptures

Check out these amazing sculptures by Brooklyn based artist José Suris IV. All made out of paper (Styrofoam, wireform and paperclay inner), they are produced with such craftsmanship and execution you could easily be fooled into thinking these were made of fur.

Producing, masks, taxidermy forms, and sculptures, José's work is technically brilliant, while being cute and comical.

Amazing tree shadow Chandelier

Artists Thyra Hilden and Pio Diaz have collaborated to create this stunning light sculpture, "Forms in Nature". Imaging resting your head on your feather pillow, laying down on your bed, and being engulfed in the magic created by the shadows casting your own personal forest on your walls. Inspiring and beautiful.

There is nothing more beautiful than nature, and any chance to recreate something magical like a forest in your bedroom should be jumped at.

Hilden & Diaz describe the piece: "The shadows engulf the room and transforms the walls into unruly shadows of branches, bushes, and gnarled trees. Mirrorings are thrown out upon the walls and ceilings and provide weak Rorschach-like hints of faces, life and flow of consciousness."

The team are currently working on a kicker starter project to get 100 made - I'll be backing that!!

Radioactive Rumbler's 8-Ball Coming 7/1!

John Santagada & Radioactive Uppercut are moving right along with their debut vinyl toy line! Last week John released a teaser of the project's first figure, 8-Ball! 8-Ball will be the first release from the Radioactive Rumblers series. The ongoing series will feature 4" rotocast vinyl toys with "city crushing" points of articulation (3 points in 8-Ball's case). John drew inspiration for the project by revisiting old sci-fi and horror movies, 80s toys, Garbage Pail Kids & comic books dating back to the 50s & 60s. I don't know about you, but it all sounds cool to me! John will be funding the project through Kickstarter with a tentative "live date" set for July 1st. Tiers for basic pledges include trading cards, comics & the standard 8-Ball figure but to sweeten the pot a number of custom 8-Balls have been donated for the Radioactive Rumblers cause! Artists Ed Long & Damien Glonek of Living Dead Dolls, Frank & Martina Russo of MF Gallery & Monsterforge have all been confirmed as 8-Ball customizers with more to come! DonP is all set for BeeFy & Co.'s Ghost Tribe Warrior custom show for San Diego Comic Con! SDCC wil be here before you know it. Where did the time go? Anyway, DonP's Ghost Tribe Warrior custom is a Mongolian Ape Warlord known as Donius Apius. The sculpt on this custom is nothing short of amazing as DonP made sure that every bump, wrinkle & line on Donius' cigar chomping ape face looked authentic. Lets not forget the armor that our Mongolian Ape is wearing! DonP did a fantastic job on that as well. The name of BeeFy's Ghost Tribe Warrior custom show is The Ghost Within Us & by the looks of this piece it is sure to be a great one! Visit DonP's website to see more of his amazing customs!

Super7 is turning 12 and they are celebrating this milestone with the release of their annual Lucky Bag! Each Super7 lucky birthday bag is promised to be filled with brand-new sculpts, never before seen characters, unexpected test shots, one of a kind customs and possible special treats & surprises. Super7 is keeping with their Lucky Bag tradition of adding items that have never been made available before and that will not be made available afterwards. They have released a few teasers for this year's Lucky Bags one showing a body with a toe-tag, the other a microscope. Seems like we've got a little forensic theme going on. We will know for sure when the Lucky Bags are released on May 25th at Super7's store in San Francisco with the remaining Lucky Bags going in Super7's webshop on May 26th. Each Lucky Bag will contain 9 figures and will retail for $300.

DeeTen's Royal Time Keeper 7" Munny

Royal Time Keeper circa 1886 is a 7" Munny created by DeeTen for Sub-Urban Vinyl's New Beginnings group show. DeeTen's Steam Punk style does not allow him to skimp on details and this custom is no exception to that rule. DeeTen did an amazing job on the clock - all of the cogs & coils are visible and the hands & face of the clock look make it look as if it were a working time piece. I especially think the Time Keeper's lace collar was a great touch. But don't let the Steam Punk aesthetic distract you from DeeTen's awesome paint job! Royal Time Keeper circa 1886 is available RIGHT HERE in Sub-Urban Vinyl's webshop for $350!

Gabriel Mesa's Chichos

Back in 2009 Venezuelan artist & Illustrator Gabriel Mesa started sketching & developing some mischievous and playful characters he called Chichos. Soon after the characters evolved & were ready to come to life in the form of plush toys! When the Chichos were first being manufactured at Baraduo's Sewing Workshop they were close to 4.5' tall. Now Gabriel & Baraduo have decided to simplify the Chichos by making them smaller, now measuring a little over 3'. Now, both sizes of these boozy, bumpy, mischievous characters are available! Gabriel says the name Chicho was derived from the Spanish word "chichones" which translates to English as "bumps" like the bumps on the Chichos' head. I can totally see one of these plushes staggering down an alley, drunk & falling into a bunch of garbage cans! The Making of B. Punchyface

Holly of A Little Stranger doesn't get to share the process of prototyping and production often so when the opportunity arose she decided to take advantage of it and show us how its done! Manufactured by 3DRetro, Bartholomew Punchyface was designed by Scott Tolleson & Luke Chueh and prototyped by Holly. Scott & Luke approached Holly to help iron out some problems they were having with Bart's design. They had incorporated a lot of different textures and finishes and the factory was having problems getting the characters just right. In these photographs, Holly shows us how she worked closely with Scott & Luke and how they brought Bartholomew Punchyface to life!

Ron English presents "Thought Factory" coming to Clutter Gallery this June

Take a journey through the mind of Ron English, as he showcases his never before displayed utilitarian toy drawings and turnarounds, this June at the Clutter Gallery.

"Thought Factory" is a peek into the inner workings of English's process, containing original sketches, drawings, and paintings made for large scale designer toy releases as well as one-of-a-kind custom figures and special resin edition releases.

These works are the blue prints of some of the most iconic and sought after art toys of our time, marking this exhibition as one of great historical importance.

Thought Factory opens on June 8th with a reception from 6-9pm featuring music from Clutter's favorite DJ Duo Baam bada. This show will remain on display until July 5th at The Clutter Gallery, (163 Main St. Beacon NY 12508).

On Friday, May 24, myplasticheart will celebrate the opening of a new duo exhibit, Lush Natura, featuring the artwork of Tatiana Suarez and Jason Levesque.

"Lush Natura is the culmination of these artists’ exploration into the living world of the lesser loved fauna. In this show, Tati and Jason both draw inspiration from slimy slugs to universally loathed critters. Their artwork reflects the artists’ mutual fascination from opposite ends of what is typically considered beautiful, as they create stunning juxtapositions between big-eyed beauties and bug-eyed beasties."

Bowobaghaskara's New Gorillaz Set!

Not too long ago Bowobaghaskara created a custom Gorillaz set titled 2D that was sold by ToysCollector. The 2D set went over so well that Bowo was commissioned to create another set of Gorillaz customs. The new set is titled Beautiful Nightmare and it includes the Gorillaz characters Russel, Noodle and Murdoc. Bowobaghaskara's textured painting style really comes through on these customs especially on the additional sculpting. Pretty Portal x SAM3's "Siesta" Print

Pretty Portal will release the latest screen print from Spanish street artist SAM3. Called Siesta, the image on the print is a portion of one of SAM3's famous murals located in Madrid. The two color Siesta screen print will drop Wednesday, May 15th at 4PM CET. Measuring 56 x 76 cm and printed on 300g/m Hahnemühle paper, Siesta comes signed and numbered by SAM3. Shadoe Delgado's Mega Munny!

After a bit of a break Shadoe Delgado is back with this new 18" Mega Munny he created for the Oakland Museum of California's We Customize exhibit. The exhibit features the different ways people customize or alter everyday objects. Shadoe took 3 weeks to sculpt the Mega Munny and proceeded to add the antlers & paint in 3 days. This piece was Shadoe's first completed Mega Munny and he says he "had a blast" working on it. He enjoyed it so much he has plans to go even bigger. Sounds good to us because we'd love to see more Megas from Shadoe! Anyway, this Mega Munny will be available for $1000 in Shadoe's webshop after the We Customize show closes on June 2nd. Shadoe promises to get back into commission work around June 21st. "The Triplets of Clutterville," an artistic gathering of three unique artists each expressing the cuteness of things in their own way: Gary Ham, Haus of Boz, and Squink! This Clutter Gallery exhibition, which we previously announced HERE, will be opening on Saturday, May 11th, 2013 with a reception from 6pm until 9pm. If you can't make the opening, the show will be available for viewing in-person until June 1st, 2013 and on our website, where pieces from the show will be available for purchase. First up are an assortment of Haus of Boz's adorably sad looking critters, including the 7" Foomi transformed into Ossa the Bone Troll and the Go Lucky Neko custom remade into Bobby + Tips (Tips is the pooping bird) as well as a rainbow adorned tokidoki Unicorno and a Mini Munny in a fitted fur suit!

Squink!'s contributions showcase his immaculate sculpting capabilities as well as his layered washes of muted colors. He actually collaborated with Haus of Boz on the first piece below, a fantastic Mini Munny in a fitted bunny suit, but then highlights his own style by showing off a variety of fantastic custom Dunnys and a Sonny Angel cewpie doll.

Wait, what's that final one from Squink!? Yes, it's a custom Gary Ham designed Toytem… or, at least, three character pieces from one. What a perfect lead into the final artist in the exhibition, Mr. Ham himself. Represented by an assortment of custom wooden toys painted with cel vinyl, we have Sylvan the satyr, Mickees the modified Hermees (who might be inspired by a certain beloved mouse), Larry Bird the owl, and a framed illustration of Ham's iconic Wooper Looper!
