Learning to Flash

I’ve had my handy flash for a few months now, but have been severely lacking in the time to test it out and learn its quirks. Here is my first test run with my adorable little model, Annie.

She thinks she’s being stealthy here, trying to sneak into bed with John…

and she’s successfully infiltrated the snuggling position!

I guess we’ve convinced John to model for us too. Good work Annie!

Growin’ Up: The Minitti Family

Over the holiday I had the pleasure of doing a shoot with my cousins. I surprised them by inviting a photographer friend of mine along, Alex Bagley (check out her take on the day here), and they surprised me by doubling their group size! It turned out to be perfect because we had grandma, grandpa, and all the kids and grandkids in one place (how often does that happen?!)

We started off the day at home with some classic family photos, and then moved to the park for a little candid action. Here’s how it went down!

This is Matt and Michelle and their son Zachary. Their eldest daughter is running around helping round people up for the photos!

And here is the whole gang! Grandma and Grandpa (Bob and Kathy) are standing in the back While Mike, Julia, Michelle and Matt get the kids to settle down.

Family photos are done and everyone is itching to move on to the park. So, we loaded up and took off!

This is little Ewan. You probably won’t recognize him from earlier on the blog… at Julia’s baby shower!

Here is a bit of Sydney and Zach taking full advantage of the parks play time opportunity.

I met Alexis up in Oak Creek AZ for her maternity shoot, but she is quite an international traveler! She’s a teacher for low-income regions, and has been teaching in countries like Venezuela and Colombia. Unfortunately Dad couldn’t be a part of the shoot because he was in Colombia at the time, but Libby already has a her flag waving Scroll through to her Colombian pride!

We started off with some playful shots of Alexis with her kitty Sam.

Urban Exploration: Danie

I had a blast this morning exploring downtown Phoenix with Danie. I love it when you’re in the middle of a conversation with someone and you just happen to catch a beautiful laugh. Danie made that pretty easy!

Danie’s inner mustache came out as we passed by this cute little barber shop!

And of course, what would a trip into the city be without stopping for morning coffee.

We had a crazy huge dust storm here in Phoenix Thursday night, and I found myself lured my the eerie-ness. It just seemed like the perfect opportunity to shoot a horror film or crime thriller. Okay oka, maybe I was a little inspired by the episode of Criminal Minds I was watching just as it hit…

Last thursday my little brother Tony shipped out to boot camp, so this Independence Day is particularly special for me. I am so proud of our service men and women! We started the celebrations off right with our family and BBQ. Then, my other brother Alfi joined us in finishing it off with friends, ice cream, and this great view of all the fireworks in the city atop Papago mountain.

A Day at the Park

It was a sunny beautiful day Friday, so we decided to run around a bit. When we got to the park it was completely empty, we had the whole place to ourselves. So, John and Gaius got to playing and quickly wore themselves out!

Golden Anniversary: Johnna & Al

Last weekend was my grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary. They kicked it off by renewing their vows in front of their entire family. Afterward their children and grandchildren played a movie of their first wedding and the memories began to flow. Here is a peak at the celebration!

Today is my first wedding anniversary. Fifty years ago (and 4 days) my grandparents were married. Since then they’ve had 4 children and 5 grandchildren (only one girl, that’s me)! I hope to hold together a family as strong and lovingly as they have. Seeing all that they have accomplished, and how well they fit together even after all these years, really reassures me in our divorce-happy culture. It helps too that I have such a great and communicative husband <3 I hope to grow old with him just as my grandparents have done with each other, and I hope to be filled with as much love as they are now.
