This new wallet-friendly option comes after a handful of announcements about the company's efforts to branch out. The Open Text Web Solutions group, formerly known as RedDot Web Content Management (WCM), has just put out a new and significant release of their mid-range Web CMS product. Yes, Vignette (when the acquisition is finalized) will take place alongside Web Solutions version 10 in this WCM quilt.

A case in point is the announcement by Quark (news, site) that its XML authoring tool can now be integrated with EMC’s (news, site) enterprise content management system, Documentum, giving Documentum users the ability to develop intelligent and reusable XML content without having to bring in technical authors.

By integrating Quark XML Author with Documentum users will not only be able to create XML content, but validate existing content, manage links between XML documents and access it using XQuery and XPath standards.

Yesterday JustSystems (news, site), provider of XML and information management technologies, announced that their flagship product has been around for ten whole years.

While a lot of companies claim a lot of things about their products, Kapow Technologies' financial success and growth over the past two years has backed up those claims principally as a result of some very serious software.

Let's take another trip to the cloud, shall we? Yes, the adage may be old: to cloud or not to cloud? The open source Enterprise CMS vendor Nuxeo (news, site) solved this poetic dilemma and took its document management product to the cloud.

That would appear to be one of the primary conclusions of a new report released by the Aberdeen Group (news, site) for Widen, a provider of web-based digital asset management applications. The report says that only half of Best-in-Class organizations (53%) indicated they currently have searchable access to content.

The company has made other recent moves to ensure its future, including their edition of electronic signatures in the KnowledgeTree 3.6.1 release. The company, which is funded by Hasso Plattner Ventures, has already gained s worldwide traction, and is now reportedly focusing on building its US operations.

North American operations will be led by Tim Spink, who joins the organization as vice president of sales. His experience includes former senior director at rPath Inc., former vice president of sales at Solarwinds Inc., and various sales management and director positions at Red Hat Inc.
