After a 2 year quiet spell since his last album Washed Out looks set to return this summer with a brand new record entitled 'Paracosm'. Referring to it's theme of imaginary worlds with whole new life forms where anything is possible Ernest Greene aka Washed Out looks to explore these ideas through his music.

Check out the Patrick Han directed preview trailer above. Paracosm will be released August 12th via Weird World in the UK and Europe, and Sub Pop in North American on August 13.

So who's up for some heavy guitar rock? Is that a yes I hear? New band Polterghost offer up an excellent serving of just that. Whilst powerful basslines and gritty guitars assemble at the forefront it's the slightly distorted vocals and moments of calm inbetween that form the highly affectionate melodies that radiate from the layers of killer riffs. There doesn't seem to be much info around at the moment for the band but hopefully that'll trickle through soon. In the meantime you can stream the single above!
Sweden's Azure Blue returns with his second single Willows And Pines taken from the forthcoming sophomore album entitled 'Beyond the Dreams There’s Infinite Doubt'. With its light and breezy tones the track floats and bounds through a sea of arpeggiated synths as Tobias Isasksson's crooning vocals add a sense of realisation to the song. Check it out above!

Well this is a nice surprise. Out of nowhere Trophy Wife have released their debut album on a pay what you want basis over on Bandcamp. The sad news it that they have announced their departure from the Trophy Wife name but with the promise of new music (possibly from a different direction) coming soon it looks like exciting times ahead for the Oxfordshire trio.

No matter how much music you think you listen to, you really barely scrape the surface, even after all the trawling through countless music blogs, PR emails and the odd Soundcloud search. It's why I'm so thankful for knowing great people with equally good tastes in music. Introduced to Old Colours by my good friend Chloe just under a year ago it's been great to hear the bands progression and playing ability develop over this short time span. From humble beginnings of folk inspired pop the band have crafted their style in to a powerful concoction of unique talent, harbouring a definitive charisma. Based around the Swindon area with members dotted right along the M4 corridor from London to Bristol the band seem to finally be picking up the attention they so rightfully deserve. So with a string of single releases it was only a matter of time before they finalised a debut EP.

Available now, Mountains is a strong and empowering introduction to the South West four-piece's music. As the EP opens with Giants you get a strong sense of realism, Zoe Mead's vocals adding a delicate touch to the thundering percussion. Growing up listening to a lot of Post-Rock from bands such as Explosions In The Sky and This Will Destroy You I gather a strong influence in the guitars as they begin to soar with a piercingly beautiful aura.

As the EP moves in to Hannah you get a strong realisation that Old Colours are far from static. Evolving their playing style their music becomes quite hard to pin down to one genre. Always a good thing. Led in through a sparse opening of overlapping guitars and distinct percussion the track builds and forms layer upon layer of blissful enjoyment. With the scenery formed over a jangly bassline with Mead's vocals adding their elegant touch it's the final minute that becomes the most prominent as each slice comes together for one final explosion met with pulsating guitars and energetic "whoah-oh's". A fine masterpiece in pop professionalism.

Centre Line adds a sentimental touch to the EP. With softly sung vocals and a beautiful arrangement of instrumentation you can truly feel the emotion as it washes over you. With a brilliant build up led by adorable strings and rolling percussion an eerie silence ensues displaying the true sobriety in Zoe Meads voice. As the track develops it breaks out in to a flurry of evocative imagery before fading away once more in to a hauntingly calming outro showcasing the bands excellent ability in contrasting their playing styles.

As the EP rounds up on my favourite track, As We Run, we're met by their most powerful effort yet. With coherent layering paving the way to the lonesome melodies we settle into a hypnotic cadence.
With the warming fluctuations of faintly played guitars and
hearty percussion intertwining to form a moving and aspirational
backdrop As We Run becomes nothing short of inspirational.
Travelling deep in to your emotive state as if being propelled forward by the pounding drums, passionately
relatable vocals and high-strung, elongated guitars you become surrounded by its breathtaking climax. Check it all out above.

The full EP is available to purchase now via Bandcamp.

Londoners Men's Adventures return with a summery fresh new single entitled Feeling Bad. Formed through the long-term friendship of Jimmy Casson & Alfie Smith the duo craft beautiful melodies dripping in psychedelic charm. Drawing big influence from the Western Rock scene with a twinge of Surf Pop for good measure you can't help but fall in love with their jangly guitars and laid back appeal.

Check out the first track from the forthcoming debut EP 'Solitary Trip' above, due out June 24th via Dirty Bingo Records.

In hot anticipation of their forthcoming debut album Kodaline have released a beautiful acoustic version of their single Love Like This. Whilst the original burst with charm and charisma the Irish quartet have managed to flip the tables adding a whole new twist through its stripped back appeal.
In as poignant manner as ever Kodaline manage to captivate and engage through this emotionally distraught rendition led by the solemnity of its lonesome piano. The heartwarming arrangement showcasing the bands ability in channelling their energy and affection as Stephen Garrigan's tender, pain-stricken vocals combine in to a powerful whirlwind of emotion. Have a listen for yourselves above.

As the Manchester four-piece premiere the closing track from their forthcoming IV EP (Due May 20th via Dirty Hit Records) we're greeted by a much more sincere and sentimental side to the band. Whilst essentially a modern day love song detailing longing and loss, with Matthew Healy's breathy "I think I'm falling, I'm falling for you" forming the breathtakingly beautiful hook that runs throughout, the single provides a brilliant contrast to their previous music. Accompanied by long drawn out synths and a powerful driving focre through slow tempo percussion and their signature bouncy basslines fallingforyou plays true testament to what The 1975 are all about.

There's something so pure and fresh about Swedish music. I know I say it time and time again but they really have nailed the perfect song writing formula. Having recently signed to Dutch label 'Goomah Music' Lowing looks set to have a bright future ahead of him. With an upbeat charm running through the heart of his music accompanied by glossy tones that overlap and flow between each of the intricate layers of guitar you can't help but fall in love with this wonderful sound.

With a debut album due in the Autumn we'll keep you posted, but for now you can stream the latest single above.

01. Wave 02. LA Calling 03.You & I 04. Separator 05. No Man 06. Bridge Of Bones

07. Love Natural 08. Are We One 09. These Nights 10. Everywhere

For this to be my first taster of Crystal Fighters, some may consider it slightly criminal. When you come to realise 'Cave Rave' is the London/Spanish band's sophomore album and they have a whole host of music available that has yet to reach my ears this all becomes quite shameful. But with that being said maybe it's a blessing, allowing me to listen to their new album without any prejudgmental views, hearing the music for what it truly is.

As the band headed off in to the Basque Hills region of Southern California to record their follow up to debut album 'Star of Love' no one was quite sure what the result would be. But it's clearly evident from the opening notes of Waves the band have picked up on the strong influence of their surroundings. With a vast swirling openness accompanied by twinkling synths and changeable vocals that add a distinct uniqueness to their music the band manage to capture the true spiritualism of human life. As it fades out in to an almost ocean like state we're greeted by LA Calling. An upbeat, feel-good track that's bursting with life. As Sebastian Pringle's vocals fall in to a blissful harmony with the strummed guitars an amalgam of cheery textures and catchy melodies come together to project a never ending supply of happiness.

With an almost Folk inspired Reggae vibe it doesn't take long to become overwhelmed by the lovable charm of You & I. The bands latest single has already been making its mark with the official video receiving rave reviews. Rattling through with Ukelele's and Bolivian Charango's (a unique 10-stringed instrument the band attained whilst on their travels) the track breaks down in to a moment of calm before raising the energy once more to Pringle's "You and I, no one else, nothing else but you and I". A beautiful ode to ones sense of realism and zoned out blissfulness experienced when engrossed in true love.

It quickly becomes evident that Crystal Fighters are a spiritual bunch. With a strong psychedelic appeal the band manage to capture the hearts and minds of fans alike as they ride high on their wave of unique quirkiness. It's songs like Separator and These Nights that demonstrate this perfectly. Both tracks evolving and blossoming in to fully fledged anthemic pop songs through their delightfully fast, mesmeric playing styles.

As the album reaches its mid-way point it gives birth to my favourite track, No Man. Another prime example of how effortlessly the band manage to create their concoction of harmonious sun drenched anthems. As it attempts to tackle the pros and cons of all of life's little decisions you become embodied in a true sense of liberation. I challenge anyone to not want to dance to this! As the instruments begin to drop out leaving the scarcity of Pringles vocals we're welcomed by Bridge of Bones. It's here where things get a little different as the band reduce their high calibre tempo to make way for a slow burning, stripped back, piano led ballad. Its sentimental love brought to light through layered vocals bowing out in a choir-esque style. As the intrinsic, delicate melodies build it's delightful to see the warmth shine through as if the rain clouds have cleared to reveal the sun's rays.

It's not long though before the upbeat and bounding nature of Crystal Fighters edges its way back in the form of Love Natural. A glittering display of pure pop indulgence with a cocktail of instrumentation, forging together to compile the big sound it delivers. With no letting up you're thrown head first in to the powerful Are We One. Never ones for conformity, the track's structure evolves on a hotbed of folktronica, bringing to life each and every one of the intricate layers of sound. The band's high energy rhythms swaying in a lifelike state as the tempo slows allowing you to catch your breath before jumping back on it again.

As the album rounds up on Everywhere, a heavenly fresh track doused in memorable melodies a swirling nature ensues as you become surrounded by whirlwinds of breezy synths and guitars. A fitting end to a fantastically vibrant album that remains as consistently compelling as it does in sublimity. Cave Rave looks set to outshine all others in its path in becoming the soundtrack to your summer. In its predominantly fast paced environment this is an album that glows and glows. Forever giving in all of its eternal bountifulness. 9.2/10

Cave Rave will be released on the 27th May via Zirkulo/PIAS and is available to Pre-Order here.

As Fenech-Soler ready their second album 'Rituals' due out September 2nd via Warner Bros. Records they return with a brand new video for their latest single Magnetic. In a beautifully colour graded backdrop the band embark on a weird adventure across the city with some pretty strange goings on.

As the Northamptonshire four-piece blend sunshine vibes with euphoric synths Magnetic becomes a pulsating summer anthem. Forging their lovable charm in to 3.54 minutes of pure excitement the band showcase their natural ability in producing such hybrid danceable pop. I sure can't wait for the album!

Magnetic will be released July 1st 2013.
Ahead of the release of their new album 'Cave Rave' due on May 27th Crystal Fighters have unveiled an album sampler video streaming clips of all 10 tracks. Check it out above featuring their current single You & I. With the euphoric sound they've engraved in their music, that courses through each and every track, it's evidently clear the new album will readily become your soundtrack to the summer. With a unique blend of instrumentation the London/Spannish band go a long way at creating the truly inspiring music we hear today. May 27th can't come quick enough!

And just in case you missed the official video for their love infused single You & I you can view it below.
With the whole DIY sound making a strong comeback (although I'm not sure it ever left, maybe people are just finally noticing) no one seems to be doing it as good at Phoenix, AZ's Wolvves. It's been a while since I last posted about them but now their back with a brand new video for their latest single Live Forever. Returning with their hazy, fuzzed out sound the band continue to excel through their fresh take on Hip Hop inspired Pop-Punk as they go on to ready their debut EP. Check it out above.
It really would seem like The 1975 can do no wrong. As they return with their next single taken from the forthcoming IV EP, available May 20th (Dirty Hit/Polydor), the young four piece from Manchester excel themselves once more. Proving their more than just simple pop tune manufacturers the band continue to showcase their wide range of skills through Haunt//Bed's blissfully swirling synths as you become encased in its layered sublimity. As Matthew Healy's vocals float alongside the melodies it's easy to become lost amongst the tracks transcendental feel. Something of true ethereal beauty. Check it out above.
