Video: 1 Topshop Skirt 3 ways

I recently purchased a printed tube skirt from Topshop and decided to create a lookbook video on how I would style it as sometimes graphic prints can be tricky to wear. I've also worn it ultra sporty and kind of grungy with a grey beanie, white mickey tee and converse but the video didn't come out well for that outfit so I only included the 3 in the upload. Wooo a new video for my channel Glitterdollz7, it’s took so long to do one of these due to many reasons. I was feeling mega stressed with the recent house move, my partner went to work away in Malaysia so I was on my own with our son for a while and if anyone has a 3 year old they will know it’s tough to do anything with a youngster and I have also been working really hard the last 6 months doing lots of shoots to build my portfolio and writing the beauty section for Chase magazine a North East publication so my make-up side is going well.

I didn’t think it would take me almost 3 months to feel ready to do one but it has and I’m glad I never rushed it. I would like a better editing program as I use Windows but I’m not being picky, I’m just going to do videos that I really enjoy making as it shows when you’re not enjoying it any more. I’m trying to be more organised so hoping that I can upload at least twice a week, child and schedule permitting and I plan to upload on a Tues and Thursday.

Anyway enough of that, on with the video!

A lovely follower on twitter called Samantha asked me what shade lipstick Jade was wearing for the live performance of DNA on Xfactor. This was actually really hard to find, I saw one terrible grainy video and couldn’t make much out but when I watched their actual music video I realised the make-up was similar if not the same. I loved the colours and textures so decided to make a tutorial so here it is…

Rimmel Glam eyes - 2 looks one product

Rimmel have developed a new mascara to take you from Day to Night in one swoop.

The Glam'Eyes Day2Night Mascara creates two very different looks using a double cap system: for a naturally long Day look select Length; for Night opt Volume to maximise lash for seriously thick lashes.

Natural

The wand works by twisting the first cap to release the separating lengthening wand, this contains enough product to make lashes look defined but the bristles in the wand separate the lashes. Placing the wand back into the tube and twisting the second cap pushes the brush into the product and releases it without scraping any off. This means more mascara is deposited onto the lashes for a thicker look.

Same brush just different amount of product!

It's difficult to find the time to take make-up off and start again when your nipping out from work to a party or night out so I have some tips to help you get out the door and into that bar quicker.

For an office to party look try layer over your day make-up by using a darker eyeshadow on the outer corner of the eye and pull under the lower lash line. Apply a black liner to the waterline and smudge along the top and lower lashes with a cotton bud then complete the look by applying the Volume on Rimmel Glam'eyes.

You can see the difference in the three looks provided in the pictures. I was pleasantly surprised by the formula, the wand achieved different looks and made me feel like I actually had nice lashes without the need for falsies!

The Secret of the Skin Sketching Technique: Neutrals

1. Smudge Medium Pencil in ‘Vow’ (nude apricot) all over the eyelid to reduce redness and blemishes and create a soft nude base.

2. Draw Medium Pencil in ‘Flinch’ (soft charcoal) along your upper socket line and under the eye for definition.

3. Scrawl Medium Pencil in ‘Honour’ (rich brown) on the outer third of the eye and on your bottom waterline for sexy smokiness.

In 2009 I created this look for a contest on YouTube, The brief was to create a eye make-up look using ONLY pencils. No eyeshadow, bases or creams were allowed, I used blue and brown eyeliners and the effect was very good and actually didn't crease like I imagined. The Illamasqua pencils are creamy, long lasting and blendable so the finished look will be flawless in comparison to my look.

The beauty of using pencils is that you can create highlight, shade and colour without bursting your make-up bag.

In my latest make-up TUTORIAL I re-created a magazine cover of Anne Hathaway for Elle 2010.

Originally done by Kay Montano I used a palette of Navy and Black.

The Navy I used was from the Dior 5 colours All in One Artistry Palette, as not everyone may have this I have found a couple of accessible shades that come very close to the colour I used.

The navy I used was the top left shade, below you can see the colour it appears and the other brands that look similar.

Either of these could be used in its place

If you are wanting to build your eyeshadow collection Contrast is a colour to have, I use it on its own or as a depth colour.

For some time I have had comments from subscribers on YouTube and fellow bloggers saying there's a definite similarity between me and Sarah Jessica Parker. I really failed to see it other than we have long features and blue eyes oh and of course because we're both really exceptionally stylish haha just kidding.

This picture actually freaked me out a little, it's really strange to see someone with such similar features. Apart from the long face and nose look at the eyebrows, eye shape and mouth. Freaky.

Anyway I just put this up to kinda admit to the lovely ladies I met at a recent event that sometimes I can look alot like her.

New Tutorial - Anne Hathaway Elle 2010

Continuing with my Front Cover tutorials on YouTube I chose this gorgeous picture of Anne Hathaway. It shows how to make smokey look elegant!

I am seeing too many girls go all out when doing the "smokey eye" although there's no limitations to make-up there's certain guidelines that can make the look appear clean and proffessional. However if you miss the guidelines it can look dirty, messy and cheap.

My top tips to get that pro smokey eye.

1 - Smokey eye DOES NOT mean just black or grey. You can create a smokey eye with any colour as long as you graduate into a darker shade.

2 - Keep it clean! Its all about the eyes so don't pile on the powder, foundation, blusher, highlighter and loads of gloss. It tinkers on the side of cheap. It looks pretty against clean fresh looking skin and a soft lip. You can even have a little bit of a brighter lip as long as the skin looks simple.

3- Do you foundation last if you use very dark colours or loose pigment.

4 - A smokey eye shouldn't need tonnes of products. I used 2 colours on the eye and an eyeliner!

As clashing prints and colour blocking is huge in the fashion world right now it feels right to wear these acidic candy colours on the nails and guess what...there's no rules.

Wear a different colour on each nail, clash the polish with your outfit or go wild and go fluro. In my eyes the brighter the better right now. I have already wrote about the Essie polish that I have added in my loves right now. Yes it applies pretty poorly and you DO need 2 layers but its the best bright polish I have.

These's are my top three I am loving right now.

I bought this in Miami, you may still be able to purchase in the US or Ebay.

This is an orange on the nails but next to the Essie it looks coral. Very pretty colour and only £1.50!

Yellow nail polishes are one of the strangest colours to wear but thankfully the shades have improved from the dated ones that made nails look stained and dirty. I love the sunshine effect this has, I wear it and feel sunny instantly. Also £1.50

A Liberated look

I started collecting MAC face charts a couple of years back and love looking through them once in a while.
As I will be making them a frequent guest on my channel I thought I'd start with a smokey eye with a bit of a difference. I love this look, it makes the eyes seem larger which is great because typically a smokey eye can make eyes often appear smaller. Its pretty simple to do and easily adaptable for those who have different eye shapes

#TIP- If you have close set eyes try missing out so much depth on the inner corner and your eyes will appear wider

Or if your eyes are wide set place depth on the inner corners and keep it softer on the outer edge for a more close set look.

Review - Jemma Kidd brushes

Being thoroughly impressed with the Pro brush range by Jemma Kidd I thought it was time to show you guys which brushes I rate from the collection and what I have been using them for. As silly as that may seem sometimes I find alternative ways of using products and tools other than what they are intended for.

Below is the selection of brushes I have, they have all been tested and used for over two months so you can rest assured I gave these a fair trial.

'This innovative pointed foundation brush imitates a finger tip making it perfect for all over blending of foundation. Amazing softness achieved with a carefully selected blend of hair. Sweeps around facial 3-dimensions to create the right amount of pressure for the perfect foundation product payoff. Blends product effortlessly. Pointed synthetic head fits ideally around the orbital cavity of the eye and applies perfect pressure to help minimise imperfections.'

Originally I started using this just for creamy products but it works quite well with liquid foundation too, I mainly use it as a contouring brush.

'Use this flat polishing brush with mineral make-up and setting powder. Flat hair bundle creates a polished effect when brush is swept in mini circular motions. Synthetic hair bundle allows artist to stipple and press product to the skin. Blends product effortlessly and ensures even application. Applies perfect pressure to help minimise imperfections.'

This is probably my most used brush, applies my highlighter and cream blush like a dream

'Use for adding eye colour and for detailing certain areas. For example, highlighting the inner tear duct will widen the eye.'

I mainly use this to place colour on to large areas like the lid

'Use this blurring brush to diffuse product across the eye lid and blur edges.'

This brush is like a MAC 217 and 224 it blends brilliantly!

'Use this detail and depth brush underneath the eye and hard to reach corners and creases. By applying colour to the crease of the eye this will add depth.'

I love creating a smokey eye with this brush, it's a brilliant tool for depositing shadow on the lower lashline for the 'Mary - Kate and Ashley Olsen' look.

'Use this fine liner brush to create depth along the lash line. By applying a thin line along the root of the eyelashes it will give the appearance of more volume & open up the eye.'

Great alternative to the Benefit 'Get Bent Brush'

'Use this sharp and define brush to line and fill your eyes, lips and brows.'

Great for creating straights lines

'Use this detailing brush to highlight and detail small areas with precision.'

I use this as a lip brush as it gives amazing control .

My Opinion

These brushes have been a part of my daily routine since I acquired them. I found they hardly shed at all and worked as well if not BETTER than my expensive M.A.C brushes.

My Must Haves

This would me much easier if I just listed the one I wouldn't include as an essential which is the Medium Shader brush. The rest I must say are either muti - purpose or essentials for that smokey eye and defined line looks or creating gorgeous skin.

A little insight into my life

Your support always means alot to me, I am trying to make my site a little more original and exciting for you guys as I know there's so many of us bloggers out there that it's inevitable we end up looking similar. I feel at the moment I'm not entirely settled. None of my accounts are linked so I have to post on twitter and facebook manually which takes up extra time I don't really have. I spend on average around 40+ hours a week on my blog and YouTube and I'm not earning a salary so it shows how dedicated I am.

At the moment I can't work until my son is allocated more hours at nursery, he goes 2 days a week which is great for him as he has really came on leaps and bounds but unfortunately they cant offer me any more days right now and for some reason nursery's up here have big waiting lists. I refuse to put him in private nursery so I waited on a list for 3 months just for those 2 days, madness!

I'm lucky to have an understanding partner who really pushed me into all of this and doesn't mind taking a back seat while I sit for hours typing away.

Since the age of 16 I have always had a job, at one stage 3 at once. I come from a working class background with a strong sense of work ethic ,even when I was at college studying I worked. So when I moved to Scotland and had my child it was so frustrating unemployed. I spent some months working at Miss Sixty when I was pregnant but the store went into admission (or something like that) and no one would employ me being pregnant.

It was hard being a first time mum and having no family or friends around me up in Scotland (I did make 2 lovely friends) but some how I just got on with it and boredom led me to YouTube then Blogging. I admire those like Lauren Luke and Kandee Johnson as they were the first girls that really took off on the small screen. They have done so well for themselves and both with children in tow. Go on Girls!!

I hope that I can make my son proud of me and feel like I contributed towards the good things in life for him. I sometimes feel I'm in the shadow of my partner as he plays football professionally and has career that our son can get excited about when he's a little older Although he's not super famous or rich like these premiership players he still has that 'cool' job that makes me feel the need to achieve too.

Getting the column in FACEON magazine elevated me into a new place of happiness and gave me motivation to succeed and progress. My aim is to be happy and successful in my passion which is what I'm doing right now, oh and some print and runway make-up.

This post is way longer than what I thought in my head but I'm having a Carrie moment and just typing as though I'm actually talking to you which is weird.
