Space Opening 2010 Prices

Only a couple of days ago i told you the news that Space was going to have a two day opening party, Space have now revealed the ticket prices (which are no surprise) but they have also got a “Weekend Invasion” deal which also includes free entry to the Kehakuma opening party on the 1st June.

Its the first time space have had a two day opening party and i am fully expecting this to be the most talked about opening party of the season without doubt.

On the website they said the following

For this… Space has prepared an incredible staging – 7 rooms, Visual Shows, Live Acts and over 80 DJs like Carl Cox, John Digweed, Pete Tong, Fat Boy Slim, Jon Rundell, Cristian Varela, Nick Curly and Yousef, among others. You can’t miss this incredible experience, we are waiting for you.

Is this a clue that Cox, Digweed, Tong and Fatboy Slime are all playing? The line-up hasn’t been announced yet but im sure it will pack a punch, with 6 rooms and two days they can fit in a lot of different dj’s!

Prices for the opening party are

Day1 = €55
Day2 = €65

if you but a weekend ticket then its €100 with entry to a third opening party on the 1st June.

Cream @ Amnesia 2010

For as long as i have been going to Ibiza, Cream is one of the clubs that has been stable throughout, They haven’t moved, caused much controversy, they haven’t fallen out with the club owners that has been public and they have week in week out put in great nights people want to go to.

Over the years they have kept the sound of cream appealing, in 1999 i took a visit to cream in Ibiza and Pete Tong and Judge Jules were playing trance to a packed main room.

Go there today and the atmosphere is still the same, Paul Van Dyk has a good role to play and has been another constant in the Cream DJ Booth. For many years PVD was accompanied by Tiesto who eventually moved on but he has been at the helm with a whole host of other Dj’s new and Old. Adam Sheridan was supported by cream in Ibiza after making his name around the clubs of the UK and Gareth Emery has had some great nights there. They can still however pack a punch with with the heavyweights such as Ferry Corstan and Eric Prydz making Cream in Ibiza a night to remember.

In 2010 Cream will carry on being the constant in Ibiza and it starts on Thursday 17th June running through till the 30th September. There have been no official line-ups announced yet, however Eric Prydz has the opening date on his Myspace Profile.

In 2010 we can expect more great line-ups, Big hitters and fresh talent. The Courtyard in Amnesia now plays a bigger part in peoples trips to Amnesia than it used to, expect the Amnesia to have Line-ups that rival any other club on a Thursday in Ibiza.

Ushuaïa Beach Club Opening 2010

If im being very honest with you, this place has been flying under my radar, probably because of its location, although its an easy location to get to its not close to were i normally stay and not somewhere i would randomly walk past.

However it looks like a great place and i will definitely be looking at taking a visit this year.

Ushuaïa is a beach club in Playa Den Bossa, Located on the beach almost opposite space at the bottom end of the beach, it only has a capacity of 300 so it will be a very snug atmosphere but reading up on various websites it sounds like it is a really good place to be.

In 2009 luciano played there and on the 29th May 2010 he is playing the Ushuaïa Beach Club opening party.

Space Opening Party 2010

The space opening party is one of the biggest and best Opening Parties on the Island, Traditionally signalling the start of the season it now marks the end of the Music conference that is held annually on the island, There are other nights on around that time and this year there seems to be more than ever. Space is still the leader when it comes to opening parties.

This year it seems they have gone one step further, breaking the mould of what should or shouldn’t be expected from a club. For the first time that i am aware for any club in Ibiza, Space will be holding their opening party over two days. On their website there is some artwork putting the opening party dates as the 29th and 30th of May starting at 4.30pm

No Ticket information is available yet . Space may have done this because last year there were a few people unhappy because even though they had bought a ticket for the opening party, when they got their they were told it was full and they couldn’t enter. By having a two day event it means they can sell more tickets and hopefully fit everybody in. This news has just doubled the fun i will have that weekend!

Ticket prices for the weekend are €55 for the first day, €65 for the second day or €100 for both days which also gets you free entry to the Kehakuma opening party on the 1st June.

Clubland 2010 – Press Release

Now the new year has started a lot of people will be thinking about their trip to Ibiza in the summer. If you have been before then you now what its all about, if you haven’t then you might not know what to expect. I have quite often met people in Ibiza who have been surprised at what the clubs and the music are like. I remember speaking to a guy one year telling me he didn’t realise it was going to be hot, he cant find a good cup of tea and he was going to ask Dave Pearce to play Baby Cakes by 3 of a kind and that would make his holiday. I told him good luck!

If you have never been to Ibiza before, then there are loads of ways you can check it all out before you go. There is always YouTube, cameras are not aloud in most of the clubs in Ibiza but there is always a nice stream of video’s to keep you entertained and by searching for a specific club night you will usually find a clip to keep you entertained.

If you want a website that is dedicated to video’s of Ibiza and the night-life then you need to check out Dance Trippin TV. The website is based in Amsterdam but the majority of the video’s are in Ibiza and its just a great website anyway.

If you have been to Ibiza, you will and been in a Taxi you will notice that the radio stations always play Dance music! well maybe not all of them but two of them do.

Ibiza Global Radio

Ibiza Sonica

Ibiza Global Radio and Ibiza Sonica are the two stations that you will have heard while you were over there. During the Summer season they will often be broadcasting from the clubs. I know last year Ibiza Sonica broadcast the Cream Parties Live and Ibiza Global Radio broadcast from Sundays @ Space. I think both stations are excellent and they broadcast all year round meaning you can listen to them right now. Both of these radio stations also broadcast online so its really simple to tune in were ever you are.

If you like the idea of this then the news gets better, Both of these stations are also available as an Ipod / Iphone app meaning you can stream both of these stations.

If this isn’t enough for you then there is another Ipod / Iphone app which will keep you entertained. Amnesia have also got Worldwide Radio, this is another application letting you stream live music from Ibiza.

Cocoon @ Amnesia 2010

Back on the Island for the 11th season Cocoon is still one of the nights on the island that is viewed as one of the best. The following Cocoon has is massive, The nights in Ibiza are extremely popular and ive never heard one bad word against it.

One of the best things about Cocoon is the crowd. A night in Cocoon is a night with a crowd that is there because they love Cocoon and the and more so Sven Vath. Because of this, you wont find Cocoon full of ’chavs’ or people that are there because everybody else goes, and for a lot of clubs in Ibiza thats something they can’t boast.

In 2010 Cocoon is opening the door’s on the 14th June. They are hosting 16 parties on Mondays and they will be closing on the 27th September.

Cocoon have also become known for their after parties. In the past they were invite only and dotted around the island in different villas. Now however with the restrictions put in place the parties have gone further underground. I don’t really know much about them any more but i did hear of a couple happening last season.

There isn’t any more information about this season yet but once i find out, i will update this post.

Ibiza Spending Money

I can often get asked “how much spending money should i take to Ibiza” and go to all the clubs. A lot of people can go to Ibiza and be surprised that their £500 isn’t going to last them a week.

I have blogged about this in the past but it was two years ago and in that time prices and exchange rates have changed so i thought i would write an update as i found last year was a lot different to years previous.

Clubs

The clubs in Ibiza are renowned for being expensive, when i set up this blog €30 to get in a club worked out at about £18, i have always thought this was a good deal, after all they are the best club in the world, now €30 is more like £30, still not bad if you were looking at only a couple of clubs on your trip but if you want to go to the clubs regularly then the cost starts to add up. For example, if you go to the main clubs say 6 nights out of your two week holiday then you will be looking at spending between £200 – £300 on club entry.

Once you are in the club then you can expect to pay €6 – €8 minimum for a drink and that’s if you only drink water. A couple of drinks in each club (presuming its water) and you’re looking at almost another £100, this means so far you are looking at up to £400. Again, i personally don’t think this is a large amount of money to pay for 6 nights in the best clubs ever, however i have had people asking me if they can go to the clubs every night and still have change from £500, The answer is simply no.

Food

Again this is something completely unique for each person who visits Ibiza. If you’re eating crisps then your screwed! with the exchange rate it has made things like bags of crisps and snacks twice the price of what they are in the UK!

In general though the food wasn’t to much of a wallet buster. We found eating in places like BarM, Iticia, Kanya didn’t bust the bank but i would say you will need a minimum of £15 – £25 a day for food if you eat breakfast/lunch and dinner, if your going for 14 nights then expect to need about £350, if you want more fine dining then obviously you will expect to pay more. this means so far we are needing £750

Drink

You will be drinking in Ibiza no matter what! weather its water on the beach or a beer before you go out your going to be drinking! If for some reason you are on a water diet in Ibiza then you should be ok, a few pound a day will keep you happily hydrated.

If beer wine and spirits are your poison then you will obviously expect to spend more. Getting some drink from the bodega before you go out will cheapen up your night, Once your out the main popular bars can take a bit out of your wallet, beers are not to over priced but if your looking for a few cocktails then expect to pay £5 up. Obviously you can find cheaper bars to go in, but if you want to be in the thick of the action then expect to pay money. It would be really hard to put a price on this but i wouldn’t expect to spend less than £300 in two weeks and i don’t drink till i cant speak. after the drinks you will be needing about £1050

One recommendation is that if you hire a car for your holiday then get out of town and visit a supermarket to stock up your apartment. It wont save you 100’s but you will find that everything is a lot cheaper than the main centres.

Transport

Once your on the island you have got to travel round, even if its only to go to the clubs, you will still need money for it. You can always use the disco bus which wont break the bank but the chances are you will be getting a taxi back. If you need to travel from one side of the island to another e.g. San Antonio to Playa Den Bossa or Ibiza Town then you can be looking at about £30 – £35 if my memory serves me correctly. over a two period this could easily rack up to about £150, most of the time however you share a taxi so this wont be all for you to pay.

If you leave the club earlier then you could still catch the disco bus back, if not its possible to catch the regular bus back, however i don’t think this is really fair on the locals having to go to work on a bus full of clubbers going home!!

Remember if you get your club tickets from wherever the pre parties are you will often get a free bus to the club, you can often expect to stand in healthy queues to get on them.

In the day time, if you want to travel round the island then i would recommend hiring a car but i would pre book it and pick it up from the airport when you arrive. I found last year that getting a car for 1 week booking in advance was cheaper than hiring a car for 1 day when your in resort. If you don’t have car hire and pay for taxi’s getting home from the clubs then we can up our total to about £1150

Sunbeds

Sounds like a random one but if your there for two weeks the cost of a sunbed can stack up. a sunbed will cost you about £6 a day and unless your hardcore with skin that doesn’t burn then your looking at another £6 for an umbrella for the day. over two weeks you looking at another £100 and that’s not going on the beach every day.

Total after sunbeds £1250

Everything Else

In this post i have just gone through the main parts of your holiday that will take your money. I haven’t listed everything you will spend money on because that will be impossible. Everything is just my experience and everyone is different, A clubbing holiday in Ibiza however wont be done on a few hundred pounds unless you only go for a couple of days. Other things you might spend some money on might be boat trips, presents, souvenirs. I wouldn’t be happy without using the safe in the bedroom which may be a few pounds a day, also if you are not in an air conditioned room then you will need to hire a fan for your stay, again, this is a few pounds so a fan and a safe can take another £60 – £70 for two weeks.

Total after the safe and fan for the room £1300

All together if i was to sum it up short hand i would recommend having £150 – £200 to spend per day. Some days you will not spend it all and wont need to, other days you may spend more. I base this on going to a few clubs a week spending your days on the beach and eating out every night. If you can afford to take more then take more. If you cant afford that much then don’t worry, you can still go and have a great time with less but you cant expect to be in a big club every night.

One thing i will promise however is that no matter how much you spend you will not regret or begrudge one penny of it!

Ibiza Spending Money

El Divino Closed

I’m a little behind on providing updates at the moment but some news to come out of this winter is the News that El Divino has now closed down and has changed ownership.

Last year was a really quiet year for El Divino with no major nights providing the pulling power the clubs need week in week out through the summer season. Hed Kandi were the last of the big boys to move on as they took on space.

El Divino has always been seen as one of the big clubs in Ibiza and quite rightly so, with its location on the harbour it looked a stunning venue to have a nightclub, however, looking good doesn’t keep the club running, I personally never went to El Divino, mainly because they never had a night that attracted me there and over the last 11 years that’s a lot of nights I’ve not been interested in. Add this to the high prices and its not a cocktail people want to drink.

The news is however that Pacha are now in control of the site. Its not clear what they are going to do with it, it already has a restaurant in it so they could expand on this and have it as a restaurant, they could operate it as a nightclub again but i don’t think they will do this with Pacha being so close. It has been said however that it will be ready for the 2010 season. I think you can tell from my rambling that i don’t have a clue what’s going to happen but if i do find out i will try and not leave it to become old news before i tell you!
