Space 2012 Opening Tickets

Tickets for the space opening party are now on sale currently priced at €50. The ticket must be used before 10pm and it includes 1 free drink!

They are being promoted as Early Bird tickets, but i cant see them going up in price online. I would recommend getting them online in advance as they will probably be more in the resort and it will probably be €75 on the door.

Space 2012 Opening Tickets

As is the script with opening parties now, Space will be opening on the last Sunday of May which this year is the 27th. Space has always marked the start of the Ibiza season and although there is plenty going on around that date, i still look out for the space opening date to know what is happening around it.

No line-ups as yet, just confirmation of the date. You can expect to see an extremely large amount of DJ’s on offer, there will be an outdoor stage built for the occasion which is a great feature of the opening and closing parties. I would expect Space to open at 12 noon (ish).

I have said it before and i will say it again, if you have the opportunity to go to Ibiza for this opening weekend, then please make the effort and go, the Buzz around the place for opening weekend is great and so are the people that make the effort to get there for the opening weekend.

Space Opening 2012

DC10 Opening 2012

DC will be smashing its door open for the start of the 2012 season on the 28th May 2012.

This date inst a surprise as its become the usual date for the Ibiza season to start, it fits with the end of the Ibiza Music Summit and it will no doubt be the same weekend as the Space opening Party.

Ive been out for this weekend and taken in the DC10 opening party, its easily one of the best weekends of the summer and i would always recommend experiencing the opening weekend at least once!

As and when info is released, i will update this post accordingly. Only 20 weeks to go!!

Ibiza Rocks 2012 Opening & Closing Parties

Ibiza Rocks have been busy for next year already as they have now announced the opening and closing parties for Ibiza Rocks for the 2012 season.

Ed Sheeran who has only released two tracks i believe will be performing for the opening party on Wednesday the 6th June 2012, for someone who hasnt really done much, he has created a massive amount of attention, 2012 will be a good .

Two Door Cinema Club will be closing the season down on the 19th September making it a 15 week season.

It has also just been revealed that Ibiza Rocks 2012 will be running two gigs a week. No more info is available at the moment but i would hazard a guess at the second night being smaller unsigned bands or even a DJ night which i believe has been mentioned some ware already.

It seems like a million years ago now, but it was only a couple of months since Amnesia closed their doors for the 2012 season. These Amnesia closing parties definitely look like the best to go to out of all the closing parties, i certainly wouldn’t complain if i found myself on the terrace in the day light listening to some quality tunes! Though it does look rather busy!

Sankeys Got A New Resident

Sankeys in Manchester have appointed themselves a new resident Dj for 2012, after scouring the country for the best Dj talent.

I’m excited to say that Mr Pedros has won the residency and will be playing at Sankeys for the next year! If your not sure who i am talking about then you should read my blog more! Mr Pedros kindly did an Ibiza Blog mix session for us earlier in the year, so im over the moon he has won this residency.

You may have seen Mr Pedros Dj in Ibiza this year with Electronique who did a series of dates this year including a boat party and having one of the rooms in space for a night.

In 2012 you will have the chance to see Mr Pedros in Sankeys Ibiza as well as playing on a Sankeys boat party at some point next season.

2011 was a great year for the Ibiza Rocks guys, they had a great lineup of talent on during the summer and they also went all Ska with their closing party when Madness took to the stage to finish of the year. Madness playing at Ibiza Rocks fit in well with a whole host of gigs from bands, groups that you would not expect to see on the Island and it all seems to have gone down well.

Ibiza Rocks are already however, busy planning next year. The Hotel opens from the 15th May with weekly gigs taking place from the 6th June for 17 weeks. You can expect the usual top class lineup every Wednesday throughout the summer and if your staying at the hotel the your gig ticket is already included in the price.

New for 2012 are Saturday nights, if bands are not completely your thing you can go to the hotel on a Saturday to see a top class range of Dj’s playing on the main stage next to the pool. Last year, people like Annie Mac and FatBoy Slim played in the hotel, other dates that stick in my mind in the past is Stave Angello with his Size Matters party.

The Ibiza Rocks house will be staying on for next year which is Pikes hotel, If you have a little bit more money to spend on your accommodation, then the Ibiza Rocks House is definitely worth considering, the house its self is steeped in Ibiza tales of celebrity debauchery! The house plays host to a private after party for the main gig every week which has a strict invite only policy and staying at the house gets you that privilege.

Another new addition for 2012 (i think) is the Ibiza Rocks Hostel, think of it as Ibiza rocks hotel on a budget! It’s not far from the hotel and you still get all the access to the hotel as the hotel guests but its a bit cheaper and the rooms sleep 3 people.

Also in 2012, the Boat parties will be continuing, i haven’t been on the Ibiza Rocks boat party myself but if you love Ibiza Rocks then im sure its worth the effort, and don’t forget the after party, all gig tickets will again get you into the after party which still seems to be in Es Pardise. I personally have had a mixed bag when it comes to the after parties, the first one i went to was top-notch, great Dj’s and a variety of music and rooms to keep you busy. My second trip, was not much to write about, the music was a disappointment for me and the crowd just didn’t seem to get into it, maybe it was just a bad week.

And finally… if your still with me and reading this! The Ibiza Rocks Bar, it’s on the beach in San Antonio and it used to be Bar M, Again, another mixed bag for me, The bar itself is great, its been a firm fixture of San Antonio for as long as i can recall. If you want a fresh drink during the day, this is your place, if you want some great food, whether its breakfast or lunch, then this is DEFINITELY your place, for the money the food they are serving is brilliant, ive tried lots of the menu now and ive never been disappointed. The music policy in the bar has changed from Bar M, naturally, for me personally it was all just a bit indy overload, which was a shame because it stopped me spending more time in the bar, especially as a pre party venue as if im getting ready for a night out, i didn’t want to listen to indy music to get me in the mood!

Ibiza rocks will be back in 2012 bigger than ever before!

Radio 1 weekend – 2012

Its ultra early, i know, but i am already coming under fire with questions about Radio 1 weekend in Ibiza for 2012 so i thought i would put this out there.

Currently, there are no dates set for the Radio 1 weekend in 2012. Anybody’s best guess would be the same weekend as this year which was the 5th and 6th August, though this will not be confirmed until much closer to next summer.

In 2011, radio 1 weekend was due to be broadcast live from a special night from space but a few weeks before the event, they switched this so the live radio shows for Annie Mac and Pete Tong were broadcast from Ushuaia Beach Hotel. They were joined by a large amount of guests, some of them passed of as surprise.

In 2012, its hard to predict what is going to happen, They could be at Ushuaia again, but if im being 100% honest, it didn’t sound very good listening on the radio. I don’t think they will go back to Ibiza Rocks again, as it’s a little to soon. They could host something in Gala Nights, where the Zoo Project have their parties, as they have done events there in the past.

Something i did pick up on though at the end of this season was an interview in a UK newspaper with Pete Tong, he was talking about organising Ibiza’s first ever festival. I think this narrows it down to two options for me. The first option, which i think is likely, would be to have it the weekend before space opens at the end of May and have it tie in with the Ibiza International Music Summit which is May 23rd – 26th, though the dates don’t work right. Or, they may have radio 1 involved and have it as part of the Radio 1 weekend. Over the last decade (and longer) Radio 1 have been and done everything in Ibiza, they have been in lots of different locations, and they have been in most of the clubs. For people who have been around for that long following it all, it’s getting very dull, every year is pretty much the same, however, if they were part of a music festival in Ibiza, then this would be a first for radio 1 and certainly mix it up a little.

MTV have tried this before but it didn’t go down well with the local councils as far as i am aware which is why it didn’t stick around.

Regardless of all this however, Radio 1 will be in Ibiza in 2012 and im sure it will be a roadblock as usual
