Our ladies returned from the Strawberry Classic in Gonubie with only moderate success but having had a great time. Last weekend the Eastern Areas Trips were played. In the men’s section Dallas and Ron’s teams fell by the wayside but the team of Ken, Noel and David are through to the Finals. For the ladies, Helen and Sandra’s teams advanced to the Finals.Well done, those teams.

The Peg and Horace Purdon matches will be played on Wednesday 26th at Port Alfred B. C.

The D and A trips will be played on Saturday/Sunday 29/30th at Kowie B.C.

To all Port Alfred B.C. bowlers: our Acheivement evening [ Sponsors, Personal Trust ] will be held on Tuesday 25th. Be there! We owe it to our Sponsors to have a large turnout.

On Friday, Eddie Mitchell’s team came out tops in the Dean Radue trips with Chrissie Holmes bagging the prize for most touchers.

This weekend, both ladies and men play in the Eastern Areas Trips at Kowie B.C.

On Wednesday 19th we host the Doris Ford and the Les Clarke. All ladies are

urged to attend the meeting on Saturday 15th at 9.30am.

Personal Trust will be our sponsors on Tuesday 25th. After play, we have our Achievements evening with supper for those who want it. The caterers need names asap.

Three suspects appear in Court for Port Alfred rape

Three suspects have appeared in the Port Alfred Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday for the horrific rape of a Stenden University Student on Heritage Day. They were arrested on Monday.

The victim was walking home after doing some shopping at around 5pm on the said day when she was approached by two men at the robots who allegedly pulled her into the bushes and gang raped her. They then held her at knife point and walked her across the bridge where they again pulled her into bushes and after being joined by a third member allegedly gang raped her for a second time.

The suspects have been held in custody and the case has been postponed to the 20^th October for a formal bail hearing.

Port Alfred resident in a coma after car rolls near Kenton-on-Sea

Anna Rick who works at Com Office in Port Alfred was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident on a trip to Kenton-on-Sea on Monday night. She was travelling alone and no other vehicle was involved in the accident.

She is currently in a coma in intensive care at Livingston Hospital in Port Elizabeth after suffering severe injuries. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family.

EP COLOURS

Josh Everton has been awarded his EP Colours in the under 23 division of Blackball Pool. He is ranked 2nd in the Eastern Cape for the under 23 section.

He will be playing in the Nationals later this year.
