Photos 1st, 10th and 11th are my photos :)

The first gallery below the main gallery is a complete wedding slideshow of a wedding we photographed at Hengrave Hall in Suffolk.

The second and third gallery is part one & two of weddings we photographed in 2012.

Finely the forth wedding is a complete wedding slideshow we photographed at Wiston House in Sussex, hope you enjoy the photos as much as we enjoyed taking them.

There are over 300 photos in the 5 slideshows on the front page alone and that’s not counting the rest of the photos on my site, to date 10,000 photos uploaded, enough to give you the feel of how I photograph weddings, in fact there are more photos in the main front page slideshow than what most other photographers show on their whole web site, if that isn’t enough there are other galleries around my site that you can view even more weddings, in total over 10,000 photos from weddings, not just the best of from one wedding.

Quite a few fellow photographers have said I am mad showing this many photos on my website but I feel couples have to get a feel for how you are going to photograph there big day.

Which leads me on to another point & the main reason why I have been updating my site.

Trying to set yourself apart from the inexperienced new photographers

With the new breed of digital cameras coming on the market it seems so easy to call yourself a “professional wedding photographer“, in 2012 alone I have had to re-shoot 3 couples weddings because their original wedding photographer had messed up their wedding photos, it seems every meeting I have with clients the same thing keeps coming up and that is how hard it is to choose a wedding photographer because there are hundreds on the internet and they all look alike. It’s a minefield.

A few things that I was told that put clients off were:

• Mobile phone numbers only on their websites.
• No address.
• Not that many photos on display. (30 to 60) mostly styled shoots where the photographer has got some friends to dress up as a bride and groom. worse still where the photographer has been to a wedding photography workshop and is using those photos which the tutor has setup and all they had to do was press the shutter button.

A few things to ask a wedding photographer that will help you decide are.

• Do they carry backup cameras/lenses/flashes etc.
• Are the cameras/lenses professional grade.
• Do the cameras they use have duel memory card slots so that your photos are written to two cards at once, very important for backup purposes if one card fails.
• How long have they been in business?
• Are they fully insured.
• Are they full time.

I have to say I have never written a post like this before and what spurred me on was that I saw a couple last week for a December 2013 wedding, they got back to me today saying they were going with another photographer, they asked my advice about this photographer, I had a quick look at the site and it turns out they started their business last year and their wedding portfolio consisted of model day photos which were photographed on a wedding photography workshop.

Sad to say this photographer will not have enough experience to deal with this couples wedding, the thing about Christmas / winter weddings is the light or the lack of it, you have to know how to operate your camera in all conditions and that comes with years of  experience, something this other photographer just does not have.

Wow I could go on and on, I am very passionate about weddings and it really saddens me when I see on facebook wedding groups and the wedding planning forums when couples have had their photos back from there photographer and are not happy with them, I see this happening daily & it’s so sad, you only have one chance so choose wisely.

I think I will leave it there and hope this might help some to avoid the pitfalls of choosing a wedding photographer.
