Hi Ben - so when are you going to be updating? I'd be very interested to read your thoughts on the ranking factors, and whether they are any different for UK sites

I think the opinions are different for a follow or nofollow Link. Sure if I would pay for a Link I want that the link ist normal (without no follow). I dont use the nofollow mark, because I think its not natural.

I used the "rel=nofollow" tag attribute on some pages of my site and I they're ok. "rel=nofollow" is very useful to some blogs with high PR because they are prone to spamming. "rel=nofollow" will keep spammers off the sites.

Sure the factors above all explain how you can help show Google you should be in the UK rankings. Or in webmasters central...

Are you wanting to just rank in google UK or both?

Thanks, Ben

One of my customers sites lists on page 2 in google.com for a specific search term, although is down on page 8 in .co.uk.
How does google know if a .com domain comes from the uk or not? and is it worth buying a .co.uk domain and pointing it at the site?

All advice would be appreciated.

Dave N's point that nofollow might be bad for the longtail seems sound to me. Personally, I think its for use when the link text has zero value - i.e. links of the 'click here', 'read more' variety - just maske sure that you have alternative links with the relevant link text in there and leave them as dofollow.
