One of my customers sites lists on page 2 in google.com for a specific search term, although is down on page 8 in .co.uk.
How does google know if a .com domain comes from the uk or not? and is it worth buying a .co.uk domain and pointing it at the site?

All advice would be appreciated.

Dave N's point that nofollow might be bad for the longtail seems sound to me. Personally, I think its for use when the link text has zero value - i.e. links of the 'click here', 'read more' variety - just maske sure that you have alternative links with the relevant link text in there and leave them as dofollow.

By far the most interesting article and discussion I have seen regarding the use or not of "nofollow" tags. I am no SEO expert, nor advanced for that matter, but I do keep vigilant on important issues which may or not affect my future rankings on my blog.

I was going to post an article about what I have already learned about this subject but with this type of content, why bother. I will just make an excerpt and link directly to this site, and oh, that will be dofollow:)

Absolutely, fantastico, as they say in my language and although I am a beginner, I do recognize an excellent post when I see one.

If it is not too much to ask, I have a small blogspot blog and would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks
