Integration offers efficiency

Last weekend we implemented at one of our customers in Belgium a system that supports the daily activities of the operators in the Goods-out section of the factory. The system is connected to an already existing production- and logistics planning system we delivered in an earlier stage.
The ‘extension’ of the system advises where each pallet of finished goods needs to be placed, which could be on a local stock-point, or in a truck that has been ordered via the system on beforehand.

The new system calculates and offers a prediction about the time such a new truck needs to be present to pick-up the products. This offers our customer the opportunity to handle finished goods more efficiently, what means there will be a shorter turnover rate, less goods in stock and a more optimized connection with the different transport companies. Because of the connection with the production and logistics system, our customer no longer needs to order a truck by hand; the system automatically orders one - after approval by the end-user - which assures a decrease in waiting time before goods can be loaded. And further they have the opportunity to track-and-trace each pallet of finished goods, within the company and outside.

Eventually when goods are loaded and ready to be transported, a delivery note will be printed automatically and the details about a particular loading will be send to the financial department. In this way, also billing will be much easier.

Quote: “The project delivered its objective to efficiently ship our products to our markets and consumers”

Again we are happy to welcome three students at our company.
One of them is studying at Hogeschool Rotterdam and is doing an internship for six months. During his internship he works on different types of projects, which offers him the possibility to use all types of frontend and backend coding.

The other two are finishing their bachelor’s degree in Information and Communication Technology and are studying at the HZ University of Applied Sciences. During their term of five months at our company, they are working on their assignments and writing their thesis.

Subjects they are working on are:

How can we take privacy into account and what does this involve for regulations and technology when developing custom software products.
In which scenarios should you use or not use ORM layers like Hibernate and Entity Framework.
