1. It can’t be easily shared.

In order to use Microsoft Word, it has to be installed on your computer. If you want to share a Word document with somebody else, it requires you to either place the file on a shared server, email it to the recipient, download it to a sharing software network, or place in on a flash drive. When you do this, you run the risk of losing the file in the transferring process or sending a version that cannot be opened. If you have a big assignment or presentation saved on a flash drive and you can’t open the file, you’re out of luck.

2. There are too many versions.

If you are running an older version of Word, you will notice your documents are labeled as .doc. If you are running a newer version of Word, your documents will be labeled as .docx. This may seem like an insignificant issue, but it actually causes a big problem. If you need to share a document with someone who uses a different version of Word, they may be unable to open your document, and if the sharing of this document is important, it can hinder the flow of your business.

3. It contains an incompetent spell checker.

Too many people are too rushed to actually proofread their own documents that they enlist the help of Word’s spell checker. While Word’s spell checker will catch most blatant misspellings, it will not catch them all—or catch grammatical errors. There is a giant difference between the use of “you’re” and “your”, and if you misuse them, Word will not catch this. If you simply trust Word’s spell checker for your document’s spelling and grammar, you will be severely disappointed in the results.

4. There is no auto-save function.

Let’s face it. Sometimes we are rushing to complete a document that we type the last sentence, run a quick spell check, and close out of Word, only to realize later that we didn’t save. Or maybe our computer crashed in the middle of a 40-page document. If this happens, you’re totally out of luck, as Word

doesn’t offer an auto-save. If your computer does crash mid-document, Word will generate  a “saved” file of what you were working on, but it will only contain the information that you saved. If you were on page 20, but the last time you saved was on page 6, you will be transferred back to page 6.

5. Its help section is useless.

Word has so many functionalities that unless you’re an avid user, you may be unaware of how to use some of its features. If you want to use a tool you’ve never used, or if you’re wondering if a certain function is possible, you will generally turn to the help section. But don’t expect to receive any useful information, as most of the answers it generates are extremely vague and offer no support.
There is other software out there that you can use to generate documents. If you’re stuck using Microsoft Word, just be cautious of its spell checker, create hard copies of important documents so you don’t risk losing them, and save often.

Mercedes Benz and the iPhone

In the new line of Mercedes Benz A-Class vehicles, the Apple iPhone will be completely, fully, and seamlessly integrated. These A-Class vehicles will feature a docking system for the iPhone that will allow the phone to connect directly with the digital systems of the automobile. Drivers will be able to install Mercedes’ Digital Drivestyle App on their iPhones, which, along with the Drive Kit Plus, will give them increased accessibility, comfort, and access to iPhone content when in their vehicles.

This system will display the contents of the driver’s iPhone directly on the Mercedes’ dashboard screen, allowing for easier and less distracting navigation. An iPhone controller will also be added to the center armrest of the automobile, which drivers can use to access iPhone content without taking their eyes off the road.

Keeping driver safety in first place, the user interface will be a three-dimensional, intuitive system with translucent icons that are highlighted in red tones in order to make sure that drivers get what they need with a minimum of distraction. Because the iPhone content will be larger and closer to the driver’s regular line of sight, accessing its content will be less likely to cause driving malfunctions. Additionally, the verbally-controlled iPhone assistant, Siri, will be easier than ever to use while in a Mercedes A-Class automobile.

Ford and the Apps

Ford recently announced on its website that it is currently making huge leaps of progress with a platform known as OpenXC that will help to integrate apps and vehicles.

An open source platform composed of both software and hardware components, OpenXC is being manufactured by Ford’s Research, Innovation, and Bug Labs. In this post I will discuss with you the HTML5 audio tag with a live example. Until now, there has never been a standard for playing audio on a web page. Most audio are played through a plugin (like flash).
HTML5 specifies a standard way to include audio, with the audio element.

How to use offline storage

At the top of document in html tag add manifest attribute which tells the browser that it is a cache file.

Now create the cache file in which you will write the name of the file which will be cached

In above example it will cache the files logic.js, style.css, background.png from src folder. But it will require network connection for checking.cgi file.

Structure of CACHE MANIFEST file

Cache Manifest file consists of 3 headers.

1.Explicit section with the header CACHE.

In cache Header you have to write url of files which should cache from internet.

2.Online white list section with the header NETWORK.

In Network Header you will write the url of files which should not cache and required network connection whenever web application launched.

3.Fallback section with the header FALLBACK.

In some cases when there is no network connection and application can’t run without network connection then you can write Header fallback to redirect to offline page. It contains the url of offline page URL.

Step by step implementation of drupal panels

1. Download panels module from drupal.org and enable it. (In drupal 7 Drupal panel is part of drupal core module. So you don’t need to download the separate module in drupal 7)
2. Create flexible layout. To create flexible layout Go to site Building ->Panels->Custom Layout. Then click on “Add flexible layout Options”. Now fill all the fields and design Flexible layout as you need. Its little bit complicated to first time user but later its very easy.

3. Now you can use this flexible layout in existing panels pages or you can create new panel page. To create new panel page Go to site Building->panels->Panel Page. Fill all the fields and click continue.
4. In Second step of Panel page creation you have to choose layout. Choose Layout and click Continue. In next step fill CSS id and other required information and click continue.
5. In the last step of page creation add content in the page and click finish to
