Tips on promoting your blog

Well I recently read a lot of e-books on how to promote your blog and increase your blog traffic. I also read the pdf of Andy Baily, at CommentLuv. Every book said to promote your blog in a massive way.

I think its right too. You have the content i.e. subject matter, you only want people to read it. And if no one reads your content, you have no kind of inspiration to work more harder.

Here I list some tips to promote your blog, to increase traffic :-

Use Social Media.I know every one must be telling you. But the fact is it works ! Promoting your content on the social media just works. For some in a massive manner for some in a meek manner, depending on your reach. Look using social sites, you get free promoting for your blog. Here I list some of my favorite social media sites:-

StumbleUpon. I was not a stumbler until few days back. I decided to stumble my page and lo ! in minutes I got traffic ! I repented for not trying it earlier.
reddit.Never underestimate reddit. I got traffic from reddit too(after submitting my link). You should definitely try reddit.
Digg.Frankly speaking, I never have recieved traffic from Digg, but its a good option. Digg stands out from other social-bookmarking sites and has its own niche.
Twitter.Do I even need to mention Twitter ? Twitter has clocked in 465 million users and is expanding, daily. You could always post your blog's links in your tweet, no one would kill you for that.
The Facebook.Hope you have noticed the "The". It says it all. Facebook is the largest social networking site(nothing new). You should definitely use it.
Google+.Touted as the facebook killer, this one is a good network to promote your website/blog.

2. Comment on other sites.It does help. I recommend commenting on new blogs and websites because they are more open to respond to your comments (and visiting your sites.)
Never shy away from commenting on low PR, they would respond.

3. Guest Post.Most of the blogs who offer options of guest posting will give you backlinks, though less it may be. But its worth a try.

4.Use Forums.Solve others problem and get traffic. In your forum post, you can always add links to your blog or to the post which solves the forum. Some forums are :- Warrior Forum, Digita Point, Blog Frog.

5.The power of Yahoo Answers.It needs special mention because it recieves high traffic and gets people from all fields and in turn you can turn them into visitors for your blog.

Remember :-Stop posting about yourself, post articles that solve others problems. You can turn them into real visitors.

UDK tutorial - 3 : The builder brushes- Cube

Hello Guys, now in this and next few tutorials , i will be telling you about the builder brushed , using which most of our game map is made , In this tutorial We will talk about the Cube brush , select this tool from the brushes menu by RIGHT CLICKING IT:

now you will see this pop-up window:

The X tell property tells the length of Brush on the X axis , The y tells the same on Y and Z tells the Same on Z axis , Wall thickness only works when you have the "Hollow" property enabled.

Now change this properties to something like this:

And you will see the changes in all the viewports:

UDK Tutorial 2: Some more basics

hello guys I am Back with another UDK tutorial for you guys! and we will continue some more basics in this part. Today I will tell you some basic navigation in the viewports.

Now in the prespective view port, hold the right mouse button and press "W" key on your keyboard now u will see that the camera is moving ahead , now release the W key and press the "S" key you will see it moves in the opposite direction , now do the same with "A" and "D" keys , the camera moves i respective direction.
Now i will explain what exactly happens , Pressing and holding the right mouse button , Activates the fly mode of camera and you can move about freely. try moving the mouse while holding down Right mouse button and the "W" keys , you will see that you can move the camera very easily.

That was all for this tutorial , get some practice with camera and you are ready for next tutorial.

UDK Tutorial 1 - Getting Started

Welcome Back Guys , This is the first tutorial for game development using UDK , so lets get started!

To open UDK , just double click the desktop icon , if there is no desk top icon , go to start > Unreal Development Kit > UDK [your version] > UDK editor.
Please read our first article on UDK :-
UDK - Game Development.

Now you will see a splash screen something like this :

Then you will come to the Main UDK editor screen :-

This pictures shows the various parts of the Main screen.

Now click on the file buttons and then new , and choose blank map , now u will see something like this :

now click on the change viewport button once to get something like this:

Now you can see the view from different sides , the letter written on the top-left corner of each viewport denoted the view , P = Prespective (3-d) , S = side ,F = front , T =top.

GTA 4 : Known Issues

Hello Everyone, hope you have read my tutorial on creating 3D games. Well, this is post is not about creating games but rather about some issues that you may get while installing or running the open-world game GTA IV.
GTA IV when it released had a lot of errors. Rockstar Games tried to fix some of the error.

So here I list some of the errors whose fix has been found :-

i. RMN20 : Need to have Windows Vista Sp1 or greater to proceed.
ii. RMN30 : Windows XP 64/Server 2003, Need to have Sp2 or greater to proceed.
iii. RMN40 : Need to have Windows XP Sp3 or greater to proceed.
iv. DD3D30 : Re-Boot the system.
v. DD3D10 : Re-Boot the system.
vi. DDWIN10 : Re-start the Game.
vii.DD3D20 : Re-install the game or install Directx again.
viii.DD3D60 : Shader Model 3.0 or higher required.
ix. BA10 : Out of video memory. Please re-boot system.
x. EA10 : Out of video memory. Please re-boot system.

5 reasons why you are not a top blogger

I am also not a top blogger. But I am trying to be a top blogger. But it does take time. Newbie Bloggers often commit mistakes when they start up their blog. Those mistakes play a part in the long run. In this post, I have analysed one of the most frequently committed mistakes that most new bloggers make. They are:-

1. Nothing new in their content.As a net surfer, I have come across posts such "airtel hack : get free recharge" or "photoshop free download" and the authors claim that their blog is about technology. Have you ever seen top blogs like Mashable or TechCrunch posting such articles. Perhaps not. Such posts do help you in initial stages as traffic does come, but in the long run, they have an adverse impact on the audience.

2. Not wise use of tools.Today, many tools are available for bloggers. But from that heap of tools, you have got to select those tools which are really beneficial. For ex:- You can all those tools which help in making your blog navigable.You can add a slideshow. You can add analytics in your blog.

3. Not patient. Traffic does takes its time. But when you start getting daily traffic, that serves as a dose of inspiration. But take not too much. You have to be patient. I have a friend, who when he started his blog got around 15-20 visits a day, and now after a year his total number of visitor per month has gone upto 100,000.His blog is now a top blog and he is a successful blogger. Had he quit in the initial stages, he would have not achieved what he has now.

4. Little knowledge about SEO. Frankly, when I started my first blog I had little knowledge about SEO. But when I saw at top blogs, they did everything SEO told them. That's why they are so popular. Content + SEO =Success (when you blog).

5. Unethical Techniques. Many of new bloggers go to traffic exchange sites. But that's harmful, because it does not get the blog true real audience, instead some users who visit them once. That's why they loose the plot. Also, Google Adsense does not approves those websites or blogs which have joined some sort of traffic exchange program.

Do you really need authors for your blog ?

In this study, the need of authors for your blog would be discussed. Do you really need additional authors for your blog ? Or is it just a waste of time ? What are the advantages ? And the disadvantages ?
Here's a study.

Blogger has the advanced feature of adding other people as author of your blog. You can even put one of the author as the admin of the blog. However, before doing this you must clearly think and be sure of the result of the action.

Because the new admin would have the same power as you all.

Advantages of adding additional authors:-

Reduced Burden. For a successful blog, following things should be achieved Content, Design, SEO etc. Now for a single person to do this, would take a lot of time. But if you have 3 authors(incl. you), 1 could handle content, 2nd design and 3rd SEO making the task easier. {Time-Management}
Variety of Posts. For ex:- If you are a gamer, you would love to post articles related to gaming. But in that case, there would be no variety in your blog post. Therefore, traffic would be reduced. But variety of posts makes sure that all sorts of people(no joke here) visit your blog. {Increased Traffic}
Your blog never runs out of content. Two years ago, I ran a blog which I managed alone. I would not get time to post new articles and hence there would be unwanted delay. {Consistency}

Disadvantages:-

"Every coin has two sides"

"Too many cooks spoil the broth". Too many people, too many to please and in the end there's all mess.
Creative Differences."Why did you post that link ?" "I thought it would increase traffic and backlinks". No fruitful consensus comes out hampering the smooth functioning of blog.

Alternatives:-

Guest Posting. Limited Interaction, Great results. The guest poster usually has limited choice and the result is often of the mind of the admin.

Emulate Graphics Card to run Hi-Tech Games

Hello, in this post I would teach you how to run Hi-Tech games requiring a graphics card without the need of one. We will just emulate graphics card to run the games.

For this we require a software, 3D Analyze. Its a free software. To download it, just click on the link provided.

What is 3d Analyze ?
3d Analyze is a software which emulates your graphics card. Means it allocates more memory for your graphics card till the game is running.
It also has many advanced features like TnL and rendering options making new and hi-tech hi-end games run on old machines.

How to use it ?
After downloading it, install it anywhere you want.
Then open the .exe file.
Suppose we are going to play Call Of Duty : Modern Warfare 3
So here's what we have to do next.

Note: Click on save batch file if you want to run the game with same settings.

The options in yellow will make most of the games run in your computer. Other options may be used where-ever necessary.

I will be bringing you the tutorial on Game Development using Unreal Development Kit. Unreal Development Kit is the free version of the famous Game Development Engine - Unreal Engine by Epic Games. Yes friends That same Engine which is used for making games such as Batman, Bioshock , Gears of War, Mass Effect, and yes of course ! the Unreal Tournament 3!

Unreal Development Kit (UDK in Short) has a very buitiful and user Friendly UI . we can make first person shooter games very easily without much coding. Sitemap for your blog

Sitemap are not essential. They basically tell the Search Engine that
"hey, the content of my site has changed ! Index it again"
But they are not neccessary.
There are many blogs which do not have any sitemaps.
Sitemaps are only supplements. They help Search Engines to be aware of the changes on your website.
Some of the well known blogs don't have an SEO. That's the point. There pages are already indexed.

Why should you have a sitemap:-
1. Your blog/website is new
2. You have links(internal) that or not well connected.
3. You have a large website with too many links.

According to the Google Webmaster Help, blogger automatically creates your sitemap and submits it. So there's no manual requirement.
Your sitemap exists on:-
1. /rss.xml
2. /atom.xml

Hello, in this post I would tell you all how to add your own favicon to your blogger blog, without any single line of code. So let's get started.
First of all,
What is a favicon ?
Well favicon is also known as website icon or shortcut icon. It is basically the icon which is visible at the top of page of a website.

How to create one ?
A favicon is in .ico format (.ico == icon). So for a picture to be your favicon, it has to be in ico format and must not be too large. Just a minimal picture would work which tells what your website is all about.
I don't have any picture in ico format, then ?
Then, head over to the following sites:-
1. iconJ
2. favicon.cc
At iconJ you would get options to convert your .jpeg,.jpg,.png pictures to .ico for free and many more options.
Favicon.cc lets you create your favicon online. Its a hassle free easy to use tool.
After you have got your favicon, head over to Blogger.
Log into Blogger.
Goto Design>Page Elements.
Now browse to the option shown in the picture below :-

Click on Edit on right side of Favicon.

After clicking on Edit, the following box appears:-

Click on Choose File.....
Then Save.
Congratulations, your blog has a new Favicon.

The Snipping Tool in Windows Vista

In this post, I will teach you how to access The Snipping Tool in Windows Vista without the need of installing anything.

So here are the steps:-
1. Goto Start>Control Panel>Programs and Features.
2. On the left side(the blue colored panel), click on Turn Windows Features on or off.
3. Click that. A box would appear.
4. Now in that box

Click(single - click) on Tablet PC Optional Components and then click on OK.

Now go to Start and search for Snipping Tool. It should be the first option there.

Hello, I will discuss new website ideas in this blog post. Well, before doing any job we must have a clear idea or a picture of what we are going to do. Else our work would result in a walking zombie with no aim. Likewise, when we are developing our website, we have to be clear of our idea.

Here's some of ideas which you could use:-
1. Photo-sharing service.
Twitter-Like photo-sharing website. This could be an unique way of using blog photographers.

2. Question/Answer Site
In this site, user follows questions or categories, instead of people. And users question be put forward to those who know rather than to those who don't.

3. A social community for developers.
Admittingly, we do seriously need it. There's no place where developers can connect, chat and collaborate. Personally, I had been thinking on building this kind of a website.

4. Project Collaboration Tool.
It enables users to take part in projects which suit them.

5. Debating Tool.
People love to put forwarad their views. You can just build a community for it.

6. Tools for new bloggers.
Its so used up ideas, you may ask. But only few command the same specialty and quality, rest are a copy of other.

[How to] Make your own Games - Part 1

Hello friends, this is our very first tutorial on CodingPlay so we thought to turn it into a series. Well, in this series we'll teach you how to make your own game, 2D or 3D.
Games as we all know are of two types :-

2D (2-Dimensional Games)
3D (3-Dimensional Games)

2D games as the name suggest have only two dimensions(taking them x and y). 3D games have an added dimension (x,y and z).

The 2D games:-
That's why making 2d games is a whole lot easier than 3d. Basically there are two ways to make any game :-

Using any software.
Programming it yourself.

Well, programming may seem the hardest part to some(or most). So let's start with making games with software.

GameMaker
I am listing a software here :- (GameMaker 8.1).
GameMaker 8.1 is a software which allows you to make free 2d games. And speaking the truth, creating the game with it was so easy. I started out with one of the tutorials that comes with the software and in half and hour, I had my own game.

GameMaker software basically comes in two categories:-
i.The Free Version(called Lite, with reduced functionality, but still enough to create an awesome game)
ii.The Pro Version(the paid one, it has support for 3D too.)
I recommend starting with the free version and then moving to the pro version.

Construct2
This is software can be downloaded here.

What's the difference between GameMaker and Construct2 ?
Well, the basic difference is that GameMaker is used to make games for the console(i.e. for the computer) whereas Construct2 is used for browser-based HTML5 games. However both are easy to use.

Construct2 comes with a list of tutorials which you can read (available on the site.) So if you hate programming, you can try out these two super-easy software to start with and make games.
