Sage stationery campaign

The idea of Sage branded stamps was a way to communicate premium without actually saying it. To have your image on a stamp immediately implies status/value and can create a feeling of value through the ‘first class’ concept of the stamp. The idea was to send out an initial mailer (stamp format)...simple graphics on front using the high value application of the brand artworks.
The initial mailer was an informative mail shot introducing the Limited Edition stamps.

The brief was to base the whole scheme around a traditional Victorian Christmas. Visuals were created for all areas of the store to illustrate the installed themes and all the proposed elements, line drawings and sketches were created to illustrate potential forms and designs of stand alone and shelf based POS.

The initial brief was to develop the existing brand and all it's elements to give it an updated, clean and fresh look While still keeping the core brand values.

The software packaging shown here are examples of the designs submitted as part of the full proposal which also included marketing material and web based design.

The challenge was to intergrate the ‘25% offer’ with the existing label graphic elements whilst still creating enough impact and awareness for the product offer. The final design merged the promotional flash with the product imagery so the whole visual appeared as one complete image.

The brief was to create an identity that had the ability and flexibility to carry through all the different departments within the business. Because 'Paper Treasures' had long been an integral part of local life it was important to keep the connection with the community and show through the identity all it had to offer.

It needed to be unique to them and have a generic ‘every man’ feel. The illustrations were created to make the software seem more accessible.

"Coffee Design has worked with Sage (UK) Ltd since June 2006 and we have found their work to be nothing less than excellent.
Ours is a complex business with a considerable design and marketing requirements, often needed with a fast turnaround.
The illustrations that Coffee Design create for us are a central part of the Sage UK brand, in working with Coffee Design we have been able to develop the scope and vision of the brand much further than we were able to do previously with other suppliers. Coffee Design has been able to understand our product range, our characteristics and requirements as a business and how we want to talk to our customers.
Their customer service is excellent and they automatically go the extra mile and nothing is too much trouble, ensuring that I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending them as a supplier."

Paul Duncan
Marketing Executive

MdB

“Coffee Design provided an exceptional advertising campaign in a world where competition and sales are tough. The press campaign was designed with reference to previous communications and a modern touch was added, making it eye catching and totally in-line with our strategy. This was a challenge as MdB gave little guidance and had a limited amount of turnaround time. Coffee Design stepped up to the challenge and went beyond our expectations. I will definitely be in touch when we continue our UK campaign.”

Claire Bradshaw
Marketing Executive

Maisons de Biarritz (MdB) is a dynamic company specialising in the Exclusive French Property Market, with an extensive track record that brings the highest level of professionalism and expertise. Their attention to detail, competitiveness and personalised service has given them a reputation they deserve and their aim to please enables them to set targets higher with each development.MdB’s concept of designing a secure and exclusive holiday retreat with a wide range of services and facilities meets everybody’s tastes, needs and desires. Normandy is an
exceptionally diverse region with a magnificent coastline, cosmopolitan town life, and a wealth of cultural heritage. Country Normandie Aqua Resort & Spa features a range of fully equipped contemporary country cottages and terraced apartments in updated Normandy style.
Coffee Design was asked to create an advertising campaign to promote Mdb’s outstanding new Normandy complex in the UK. An important part of the campaign was to create brand awareness amongst potential investors as MdB did not have a significant presence in the UK. We set out to create the campaign using large areas of the brand elements...it’s shapes, colours and forms. The finalised advertisements appeard in all major tourism magazines including “A place in the sun”.

Beelocal

Back in February of 2008, the founder of beelocal, Andrew Redmayne, was at a friend’s BBQ when the host made a point of saying that the meat may not be up to the usual high standard, as they did not have time to get to their local butcher, and had to buy it from a nearby supermarket instead.

This got Andrew thinking that there must be another way to shop locally that fits in with the busy lifestyles of today. A year down the line, and with a lot of hard work, research and investment, beelocal are proud to launch their local online shopping service!

The beelocal home delivery service is a large concern that required a lot of marketing material from day one for it’s launch and non more so than a interesting, clean and user friendly website. Because of the inovative nature of the service the branding and design material created had to be distinctive and consistent throughout.

“Coffee Design were fantastic to work with. No alteration was too much for them, and their understanding of our requirements was spot on. The document also contained many graphs and diagrams, these were all styled and rendered inline with the 'graphic' designed for the cover of the document.

TDX

TDX recognised the need to develop and update their identity to reflect their growth and standing within their industry. The chosen identity was rolled out throughout the business, from external and internal signage to business stationery as well as the design and development of the company website.

The company literature was designed as a 6 sided capacity folder to hold individual product/service inserts.
The full document was printed as a 2 colour print with embossing applied to the front and back to suggest the 'thermoforming' process the business provides.

"TDX commissioned Coffee Design in 2006 to create a new corporate brand identity to correspond with a major expansion of the business.
TDX needed an updated corporate identity, to reflect its investment in cutting edge technology and software, which we felt was not reflected in the existing identity.
The creation of a new corporate brand identity encompassed the identity itself, new web site, new company brochure and new signage.
So successful was the re-branding we retained Coffee Design as our single source for all marketing literature, promotional material, branding, and externally sourced design services.
TDX prides itself on quality, attention to detail and personal service and we greatly appreciate these attributes when our core values are mirrored in our suppliers. This is why we will continue to use Coffee Design for all of our external marketing and design requirements".

The brand elements were used to create a direct mail piece that was clean and simple in it's form though still interesting and informative enough to achieve a 'read and react' from the recipient.

The die is formed as one of the shapes from the brand illustration set, this is used to create the initial view of
a single shape (The last one).

Once the mailer is opened the message "make sure you're always fully stocked" is positioned on a background of multiple brand shapes colours to
portray a full and healthy stocked cupboard.

Casting off!...

The concept behind this exhibition was originally conceived a year and half ago and it’s been a long journey to realise its fruition. The Visual Arts Development Officer wanted to explore the rather bizarre image she had of a ‘knitted boat’ filling the gallery space, looking every inch monumental, striking and surreal. The concept derived from a range of considerations: investigating the recent re-emergence of knitting and how this traditional craft was fast becoming a ‘cool’ and innovative art form, and devising a project that would engage the community at large. Knitting was to be the central theme, but what we were going to knit had to have some relevance to where the Customs House was positioned. Anyone familiar with the Sandford Goudie Gallery knows that to look out of the window is to see an array of boats sailing by and be aware of the borough’s rich history of ship building. So the concept was born. Now it needed a way forward.

“Across a three year period, Coffee Design has continued to design high quality exhibition invitation leaflets for the Sandford Goudie Gallery’s exhibition programme, therefore, when it came to working on the Gallery’s most ambitious art project to date, there was no hesitation in giving the job to Coffee Design.
Director Lee Stobbart’s complete understanding of the concept allowed us to achieve the most exciting publicity material and project catalogue we could have ever hoped for. The quality of the design work from beginning to end was both streamlined, cost effective and striking. We therefore look forward to working with Coffee Design on all future projects, whether they are regular exhibition publicity material or specialist catalogues for the more ambitious projects”.

ND make-up

Nick & Dan had a clear idea of what they wanted from their new brand. Because of what they do is very feminine it would have been very easy to create a fancy elaborate identity that looked ‘pretty’. Nick & Dan understood that to create a strong brand that would have a long shelf life and have the flexibility to be applied to all the marketing material that had been identified, it had to simple and strong. The ‘bold’ ND brand was created to give the business instant confidence and strength.

“We would like to thank Coffee Design for their support in helping us achieve what can only be described as our ultimate dream.
Coffee Design has been there from our very first day and 2 years later we still consider them as a very important part of our lives. Without there exceptional design ideas and incredible support, we would not be where we are today.
They are always focused, approchable and have more than exceeded all of our expectations. Coffee Design proved themselves an asset to our business and there is no doubt we will carry on recommending them in the future.”

ND Make-up artists

Aquaflow

Aqua Flow is a local plumbing firm that identified the need for a ‘professional’ brand that would promote confidence
to their potential customers. This particular trade is very competitve and to build a recognisable brand that customers can trust is crucial to compete with existing long established companies that already have a good standing and reputation within the industry. In short Aqua Flow needed a strong brand that quickly elevated them to a position that could compete with their long established competition.

Customs House

A working photographer since the age of nineteen, Garry Hunter grew up in South Shields. For the last twenty years he has been based in London, after having lived in Suffolk, South Wales and North Yorkshire. He has travelled through thirty five countries and forty US States, winning various awards for both his advertising and fine art photography.

For this exhibition, which was first seen at Tabla Rasa Gallery, New York, USA in November 2005, Garry Hunter returns to Tyneside to present work inspired by the journey undertaken by a 19 year old World War II infantryman through a series of thought provoking mixed media pieces, relating to the path taken by the solider and the artist retracing this journey over sixty years later. This exhibition has been scheduled for June to coincide with the newly designated UK Veterans Day to be held on 27th June.

“My development plans include the refurbishment, re-branding and re-launch of the gallery spaces. To commence this process, my first action was to seek a high quality graphic design company to develop a new portfolio of publicity material. Coffee Design was brought on board as we had previously worked together during my role as a freelance project co-ordinator for an independent dance company. I was confident their style and professionalism would allow for the creation of the newly developed branding for Visual Arts at The Customs House.

"Coffee Design developed a range of concepts within a very specific brief and through mutual discussions they were developed into high quality publicity material. Upon production and circulation. The Visual Arts’ new publicity material immediately illustrated the desired levels of impact.

As a result of the above, Coffee Design has been invited to further establish its relationship with the Visual Arts Programme and therefore will continue to devise, develop and implement design profiles for the Sandford Goudie and Fusion Galleries.

I’m delighted to be working with Coffee Design as I feel they have a real understanding of the visual language I wish to develop for my programme and can wholeheartedly recommend Coffee Design to any other company seeking stylish contemporary graphic design”.

Storychest devised a fun but complexed teaching method that helps young children understand and connect with mathematics. This is done through children playing and interacting with the storychest characters and learning packs. We were asked by Storychest to create a brand that reflected the learning aspect of this more so than the fun side.

Our main task was to visualise 'Storychest' within the brand identity without devaluing the advantage and need for this fascinating concept.

The identity was created using mathematical symbols,
ie. the division sign became the eyes and nose, the equal sign became the lips and the times sign the main body. This is was also carried onto the name graphic which holds 'Storychest' this took on the form of an equal sign.

The brand 'mark' is a two piece design, the 'n' forms the roof of a property and 'r' creates the negative space of an open doorway, the colours were the only element taken forward from their existing identity. When put together the new identity forms a strong brand that has the legs to be applied to all of the companies collateral.

The identity was created to improve the companies awareness as they'd never had an identity to market their services with. The company mark we created of the 'g' and the 'p' has been combined and designed to replicate a graphic hot flame and a cold water pool respectively. The design took on the form of a real cheque book, this was done to generate interest to the receiver and potentially enable the piece to have a longer ‘shelf life’. The ‘warning’ element of the mailer had to be approached quite carefully so it didn’t seem flipent or irrelevant, though it was still interesting and intreguing enough for the recipient to want pick it up and look at it and potentially keep it or even pass it on and spread the message. The whole project was about Sage offering some freindly and informative advice.

Something clean relevant and creative was produced to add interest to the newly produced catalogue artwork.
The A+ concept relates to the quality training programme Sage provided it’s users whilst obviously relating to a high ‘grade’ of knowledge gained from attending their courses.

“On recommendation, I approached Coffee Design to complete some urgent work that my company’s internal agency was unable to complete to deadline.
I was amazed by the speed at which Coffee Design were able to turn around the work. The 'cake' title for the brochure was created to illustrate the companies core product...cakes!! Each division of the business had it's own style and colour way devised to visually identify a product catagory.
