It’s nothing serious or good - just a minute or so demo I did, trying to get the feel of the thing. I sampled some Earth Wind and Fire track off vinyl, slowed it down, and chopped it into little bits. I’m pretty sure the drums were just a stock set.

Cryptography Engineering is Coming Soon

Cryptography Engineering is Coming Soon:
Today I learned that Bruce Schneier is releasing a replacement for his excellent Practical Cryptography.

Beyond Theology by Alan Watts

I read this over the past few days and give it a big recommendation to anyone who would like to explore the idea of rescuing Christianity from the pulpits of the literalists.

In this work, Watts uses Vedanta to give new life to the Christian tradition, and then turns things around to show us how this new interpretation of Christianity can actually improve or complete Vedanta - something I did not expect.

I finally closed down my old site, retiring that domain for some other day.

A wise man once said “We are all at the mercy of our wild monkey minds. Incessantly swinging from branch to branch.” With multiple windows and applications all vying for our attention, we have sadly adapted our working habits to that of the computer and not the other way around.

Ommwriter is a humble attempt to recapture what technology has snatched away from us today: our capacity to concentrate.

Ommwriter is a simple text processor that firmly believes in making writing a pleasure once again, vindicating the close relationship between writer and paper. The more intimate the relation, the smoother the flow of inspiration.

If you are a scriptwriter, blogger, journalist, copywriter, poet or just someone who enjoys writing, welcome back to concentrating.

Like newspapers, vinyl records and having sex in the backseat of a car, it’s something that people think they like, mostly for nostalgia’s sake. It’s 2010! Late night network talk shows are no longer all that relevant—the ‘brand identity’ (sorry!) is negligible. Let Jay Leno go down with that sinking ship. This is a chance for Conan to work on a platform that’s based on how people are entertained today, not how they were entertained in the 60s.”

- Adam Frucci (via marco)

“CashTwittyDitty” from griffmusic

“CashTwittyDitty” from griffmusic

Photo

Apple and Red Cross accepting Haiti donations via iTunes

Apple and Red Cross accepting Haiti donations via iTunes:
mrgan:

Always stop while you are going good and don’t think about it or worry about it until you start to write the next day. That way your subconscious will work on it all the time. Yes, that’s what I’m proposing, with the adjustments needed to account for the differences between corporate persons and natural persons. What’s the essential nature of imprisonment for a crime, after all? The criminal ceases to be a free person; for a specified period of time, he is a chattel of society, and society has the right to profit from his labor during that period. And capital punishment? The criminal, having proven that he isn’t willing to abide by even the most minimal standards of social existence, ceases to exist by act of society. Both of these can be applied to corporations easily enough.”

- The Archdruid Report: Housebreaking the Corporations

Things UNIX can do automically

Things UNIX can do automically:

Thinking of how music has played a part in my life, and how I’ve used it to sooth myself, I can’t help but think as to where they’ll go and how music will follow them.

A return to the ‘Weekly Watts’. Sorry, I’ve...

A return to the ‘Weekly Watts’. Sorry, I’ve had my hands full lately, and haven’t been able to post much. Enjoy.
