Summer Lightning" href="http://www.cogwheeldesigns.com/game-artwork/boardgame-summer-lightning/">follow up post</a> on the artwork I did for Brian Train&#8217;s &#8220;<a title="locknloadgame.com" href="http://www.locknloadgame.com/Section_Cat_Content_Detail.asp?SID=33&amp;SCAT=87&amp;ID=95" target="_blank">Summer Lightning- The Invasion of Poland 1939</a>&#8220;. In the meantime artwork was finalized and the game is soon to be released by <a title="locknloadgame.com" href="http://www.locknloadgame.com/" target="_blank">Lock &#8216;n Load Publishing</a>.</p>
<p>Summer Lightning is an operational board wargame with the Invasion of Poland 1939 as plot. It is only one of the few boardgames out there on this campaign. I was very happy to have been part on this and work again together with <a title="Mark H. Walker" href="http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgamedesigner/2343/mark-h-walker" target="_blank">Mark H. Walker</a> and for the first time with <a title="Brian Train" href="http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgamedesigner/1678/brian-train" target="_blank">Brian Train</a>.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This is an update on my previous <a title="old post" href="http://www.cogwheeldesigns.com/boardgame-artwork/map-artwork-frontline-general-expansion/" target="_blank">post</a> regarding the &#8220;Village and Defensive Line Map&#8221; Expansion. In the meantime artwork was finalized and things like LOS indicators, values etc. where added to the feature tiles. Also the winter / thaw weather backside of the map was created. Make sure to have a look at the updated <a title="portfolio" href="http://www.cogwheeldesigns.com/portfolios/map-artwork-frontline-general/" target="_self">portfolio post</a> on this project, which features higher resolution artwork, some counters and mockups with actual tiles on the map artwork.</p>
<p>A prototype  and first public look at the game will occur at <a rel="nofollow" href="http://odms-club.com/convention/index.html" target="_blank">Williamsburg Muster</a> on February 4th-6th and <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.prezcon.com/" target="_blank">Prezcon</a> February 25th-27th<strong> </strong>game conventions .</p>
<p>Created for the &#8220;Village and Defensive Line Map&#8221; Expansion for the board wargame &#8220;Frontline General: Spearpoint 1943&#8243;. The maps are going to be 12.5”x36.5” and the tiles alone are 4&#8243; x 4&#8243; each (around 10 x 10cm), so the detail level is very high on this piece of work. A level of detail I truly enjoy to work at.<span id="more-634"></span></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I created this box artwork along with the game logo on behalf of Matrix Games Ltd. for &#8220;The Blitzkrieg from Warsaw to Paris&#8221;, a new operational wargame by <a title="vrdesigns.nl" href="http://www.vrdesigns.nl/" target="_blank">Victor Reijkerz</a>, TBFWTP is the first game in a new series called &#8220;Decisive Campaigns&#8221;.</p>
<p>Like many of the projects I do for Matrix Games Ltd. this included the whole nine yards. Game logo, Box cover, box layout, media label layout, documentation layout. Apart from the production artwork I was Art Director and one of the main contributing artists on this project.<span id="more-370"></span></p>

<p>The project had an extra tough nut to crack  as I had to jump in for <a title="lohran" href="http://www.lohran.com/" target="_blank">Lohran</a> who had to quit the project but had already developed the digitally painted style for the counters. Copying his painting style on an ultra short deadline provided an extra level of difficulty, but was challenging in an entertaining way and successful in the end.</p>

<p>Training and preparations for this little expedition were hard and stressful and the logo, which I did use for pins, buttons and stickers was a motivational present to my buddies.</p>
