I haven’t been posting lately, and that’s a good thing because it means I’ve been busy. I did want to take some time however to thank everyone who made 2009 a great year for my business. I enjoyed working with everyone of my new and old clients this past year. I’m excited and looking forward to what 2010 will bring.

Currently I am doing pre production work for a shoot next week in Colorado Springs.

Some of the new clients I worked with this year include BPG Properties, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, Drexel e-Learning, Deloitte, Boston College, the Pew Charitable Trust, Smyrski Creative, Financial Advisor, and Major League Baseball.

One of my favorite things I was assigned to shoot this year was a long-time dream of mine: Shooting the World Series. Being a huge baseball fan, and a Phillies season ticket holder, the opportunity to shoot my favorite team in the World Series was truly amazing. Below are just a few images from the games in Philly.

This past month marks the third summer Andrew Watson and I have made it down to New Orleans for what is, I think safe to say, our favorite shoot of the year. Andrew shoots the motion and I shoot stills for a non profit organization called Kids Rethink New Orleans Schools.

We love the organization, we love the kids involved and we love and appreciate the staff and interns that help to keep it running. And even though we seem to only go during the hottest, muggiest days of summer we also love New Orleans. Each year we’ve been lucky enough to stay in a different part of the city which has allowed us to learn more and see more of the city during our downtime. A highlight of this year’s trip was seeing a great brass ensemble the night before we left at Les Bons Temp on Magazine Street.

Below check out a few quick shots from our weeklong shoot.

So much of my work is currently embargoed that its tough to show anything recent that I’ve been commissioned to do. However, the personal work is often times the most rewarding and as such that was the case this weekend.

So after a busy week Saturday morning was setting up to be a very relaxing day as Liz and I decided to head out to a flea market on South Street and then meet up with our friend Chris to help him pick out some sneakers. (Liz is a sneaker expert) All of our plans got sidetracked however when Chris and I spotted a vendor selling replica armor. I convinced Chris that this one helmet would be worth $100 just to be seen riding around the city wearing it on his bicycle that afternoon. I’m a good salesman. Chris bought it. Riding around with it WAS worth $100. We quickly decided that we needed to do a quick portrait session with the helmet though so that the helmet could live on through the world of the internet.

I had a last minute shoot fall through this weekend which I would normally classify as a “bummer.” It wasn’t tough however to see the silver lining in this as it left me with a weekend clear of any responsibilities or plans. Much of it was spent riding around on my bicycle, watching baseball or hanging out at my buddies Steve and Bill’s place which has an amazing roof deck. (And a kegerator)

Here’s a panoramic I snapped while on the deck with Bill on Sunday night as they tried to get the grill fired up. You have to click on it for the full effect.

Here’s one of my May tear sheets that I’m most proud of, from Kiplinger’s Personal Finance. I enjoyed this shoot more than most for a few reasons. A large part was because of the subject matter and another part was the challenge of getting everything right.

The story was a cover feature for Kiplinger (I didn’t shoot the cover) that focused on 5 different stories of people facing tough times in the midst of this recession. The story wasn’t all doom and gloom, it showed what the people were doing to help their situation and the two subjects that I met, Cliff and Laurie were happy, positive people. (I love meeting new people, its my favorite part of this job)

The challenging part of this shoot was that not only were my two subjects supposed to be shot in two separate locations (one a studio here in Philadelphia, another the subjects living room in Delaware) but they needed to be shot in exactly the same manner AND they needed to match the other 3 photographers shots exactly.

Photo editor Wendy Tiefenbacher did an amazing job orchestrating all of us photographers and checking our digital files remotely as we set up each shot. All of this was done on deadline to boot.
