Flat weave carpets are a thoroughly modern floor covering that provide the warmth and texture carpet is known for with fashion forward style.

The unique style of flat weaves is what makes them so desirable. The beauty of flat weaves is that they do not have the thick pile found in hand knotted rugs. Instead, they show a flat textural look. Flat weaves are available in many styles and designs, formal and informal. The prices range from low to high end, depending on how densely they are woven and the materials used. Since they are thin yet durable, flat weaves are perfect for under a dining room table, making cleaning and moving chairs effortless.

Flat weave rugs are made with the fiber running horizontally rather than vertically, which has many advantages. Flat weaves are compact, preventing dirt from getting in and making them easy to clean. Trellis patterns continue to be a hot design trend. The pattern can be seen on wallpapers, fabrics and floor coverings. The pattern’s popularity is linked to its wonderful flexibility. Trellis designs are rooted in tradition, but have a fresh and modern feel, so it works with a variety of design styles. In addition, the pattern easily mixes with other designs such as florals, stripes and geometrics.

The latest variation of the trellis pattern is the “harlequinized trellis”. The elongated diamond pattern looks particularly up-to-date and we expect to see quite a bit of it in 2012. Selecting a carpet or rug with this pattern is a sure fire way to create a fresh new look!
