"Hugs for Fifi" was colored with copics and cut out. I stamped different butterfly images with white and blue inks on my card base. I know you can't see it but the glitter frame is actually on the edge of a square acetate. Card is 5 1/2" x 5 1/2"

Here's my Summer card

I've used a digital image, Summer, for my card today as I think she is perfect for the theme. Colored with copics. For her skin, I added a bit of yellow for the sunny reflection. What I really like about these adorable images is that the shadows are there, no need to guess where to shade.

Added glitter on the water and sand. Sorry it is not showing in the photo. Gel pen for the (water) waves. Birds and flowers on her dress were drawn/colored with colored pencils. I used fishnet for the lower panel. Painted and sanded the starfish and shells to make them look a little old as they were originally silver. I originally wanted to put scattered pearls around the card (to go with the ocean theme) but decided on sewing them on the flower centers. I just scattered dew drops on the DP (My Mind's Eye) for water droplets effect. Flip flops from my stash bought years ago from our local bookstore. They're the last pair I have.

We're taking a break so this challenge will run for 4 weeks.

So you have time to get those entries in.

The new fairies are so cute.

Here's my card

I've used silver haired Hazel for my card today. She was colored with Copics. Glitters on her wings, outfit and flower center. Nothing much to explain :)

Here's a photo before I assembled the card.

Instead of patterned paper, I stamped the background, flowers and quarter frame on plain card stocks. Card stock colors: pink, rustic white, soft stone (light grey) and vellum.

Sugar Bowl 85: Shades of Violet

Hello again - It's time for Sugar Bowl Thursday!

I was able to make a card for this challenge before leaving for vacay.

It's Kiki's sketch today and we have the option of using Shades of Violet.

I've flipped the sketch this way...

I used Jasmine for my card. She was colored with Copics except for her dress which was colored with colored pencils. Background was done with Copics. The flowers are a combination of vellum and white cs. For the centers, I used the dew drops glued with glitter. Sentiment was stamped with Staz-on on acetate. I left the white backing on so I could still see the sentiment.

The sentiment is an old PSX stamp. Colored the top and bottom images with colored pencils. I applied stickles on the edges of violet cs.

I stamped I grant you one wish with a beige ink - for a watermark effect.

Hello and welcome to Sugar Bowl Thursday!

For this challenge we have the option of Anything goes!

To win the prize of 4 Sugar Nellie stamps of your choice,

The lovely Lolitta was colored with Copics, cut out and mounted on 3d foam. Her dress was colored with copics and gel pen. For the background, I used a mix of PTi stamps. Sponging for the sky and the ground was done with colored pencils. I added some silver/metal pearls on top of the grills. She was supposed to look like she was in Paris but I had no idea where to insert the Eiffel Tower....

so I place it inside. Papers are from an old K and Co Madeline 8x8 pad. These papers are so pretty and I hesitated to cover the lower portion. I then thought of how fun to put a mini traveling journal inside and that you can remove it. You can add a photo beside "magnifique".

There was enough scrap from each 8x8 sheet for the front and back cover.

I didn't fully adhere the Spellbinder die cut frame so the recipient can out a photo inside the frame and you can write the dates under it too or whatever you like ;)

The journal is attached with re-positional tape so you can remove it and still have the lovely DP background left on the card. I used twine for the binding. I have them in different colors and need to use them more.

Back of card. The whole card (edges included) is 6" x 6".

Here's my take on the sketch

I have no particular favorite image as I love them all! But for this challenge, I used Pippi Longsocks. She is my mom's and a certain SB sweetie's favorite. (wink) I do LOVE her cute rubber shoes! I wanted her to have a denim skirt and then I decided I wanted a "denim card".

Pippi was colored with Copics, cut out and mounted on 3d foam. I applied Viva liner glitter on her wings. For the card base, I used dark blue cs and stamped a denim background on it. I also did some paper piercing along the edges, I hope you can see it. I threaded the twine in some of the holes. Text and flowers are PTI.

For the insides, I just did a repeat of the front. I do love the look of denim and will probably do cards like this again someday. Sentiment (Teresa Collins) was stamped on rustic cream cs. "LIFE" was glittered in red. "Always leave enough room in your LIFE to do something that makes you happy, satisfied or even joyous - Paul Hawken"

Note taking space. I wanted some red in there. The scalloped part is rustic cream paper and the center is white.

The original length of the blue cs was 8 1/4". I then scored at the part where the cs would be square on top of the white base, 5 3/16". The left over 3 2/16" I folded to use as a pocket. I hope that made sense. Stamped denim bg and borders. Stamped the floral image. I cut out the upper portion of the floral image for a shaped pocket. I just stamped more flowers behind the pocket because the overall image looked a little short. Then I taped the lower portion to secure the pocket.

The flower card opens up so you can write more stuff inside. I used a cream base so the middle portion would show up. Card is 5 1/2" x 5 1/2"white cs base.

Here's my take on her gorgeous sketch. I do love the flourishes she used so I tried to use these leafy dies to make it look like "flowery" flourishes. :)

I've finally inked lovely Mori. She is one of the Ribonita girls from Funky Kits. She was colored with Copics. Cut out and mounted with 3d foam. I used pink MS glitter on the hearts. Sponged the background in blue and green at first, stared and stared at the card then I finally sponged pink on the outer edges for a more fairy tale look. Applied stickles on the edges. I would have added flowers, wanted to really, but after unsuccessfully trying for days (not right shape or color) I gave up and left this as is.

Left side. I sponged background with SU inks. Flowers (old SU stamp) were embossed with white ink. Applied stickles on the edges. Sentiment is from my old Unity stamps stash :)

Right side. Just repeated using the flourish die cuts on the top and bottom. I again applied stickles on the rectangular frame.

Close up of the colored leafy flourish die.

Stamped cream cs with distress inks, cut out the shapes and then I added transparent glitter on top. Applied glue on it, the old fashioned way with my fingers. ;P It's really gorgeous with the glitters on. Very happy how these finally turned out.

Card size is 5 1/2" x 5 1/2"

Here's my take on the sketch...

I know it's Spring but I really like to use this image, knitted with love, for the challenge. It wouldn't hurt to add a card for the Christmas stash either ;) Colored with Copics. Plaid was a combination of Copics and gel pens. I applied stickles on her wings, fur trimmings, sleeves and pom poms.

The cottage dp is from an old Cornish Heritage Farms Thomas Kincaid paper pack. I was able to buy some before they closed. For the strip, I used acetate and left the tissue backing on. Sentiment is from Waltzingmouse stamps. Edges were lined with a gold pen.

Sentiment is from PTI. Punches are all Martha Stewart. Applied glitters and stickles for snow. I couldn't find a white rhinestone gem for the snowflake center so I used a pearl instead. Paper still from CHF. To make it look like there's an inner box, I lined the edge of the scene with a gold pen. The 3d stuff was bulky enough so it's only one paper.

It's not showing very well but on the upper left and lower right corner, there are snowflakes that were stenciled.

Took photos of how I did the small houses with lights.

Cut the houses into strips so they could follow the curve of the hill then paste on the back. I like to use scraps most of the time.

For the lighted houses. I colored the light with YR16 because my mom was watching me work and she says the lights should be orange. lol! I already cut the yellow strips so I just added color to it. The powder mess is glitters.

Card size is 5" x 5 1/2"

Today's the start of a 5 day holiday so I have been happily organizing my stamping stuff.

I am posting the latest color additions for my Papertrey Ink color collection.

I first posted about these swatches here.

I love Papertrey Ink.

Their papers and inks. I have stopped buying the ribbons and buttons because I honestly don't use them that much, if not at all. I have been a PTI customer since 2007.

I know there are a lot of (I don't even know what the correct term is) **** there right now and it's very sad.

I just really hope things get sorted out/fixed very soon.

Here's my take on Cathy's sketch

Delia was colored with Copics. I added some Tsukineko shiny watercolors on her wings and dress. Applied gold glitters on her wand and hairband. I also added polka dots on her wings. She's really shimmery shiny :) Instead of 3 flowers I used 2.

I turned the card this way when you open. Papers and sentiment are from PTI. The white round cs on top is for note writing. Tiny semi-circle sentiment: "It's your day & you should celebrate in every way!"

Remove the white cs (because I love how this part looks) I've placed the white cs beside/behind the image. It's not showing very well is it? :( Sorry but it's there really..peeking under the orange band.

Open the flap. You can still write "To:..." on the top portion of the card.

Closer view of the inside. Used the same tiny sentiment as in the front only stamped with a different ink color. Stamped it all around the card. Clear stamps are easy to "mold/shape" to a curve so you can stamp them on a round edge like this.

Back portion of the card. The band is a PTI die cut too. :) The band is 11" in length so the cut portions are on the front behind the image. Round card size is roughly near 5 1/2".

Ink and cardstock swatches

I was browsing the Papertrey Ink forum the last few days and came across a discussion regarding ink swatches. I fell in love with Beth's (flgirlatheart on the PTI board) ink swatch idea. After PMing me the doc file, I changed the fonts and printed my pages in both cream and white cs. I used PTI's Tag Sale die #2.

For the cardstock swatch. I printed out a free doc from Lisa Johnson's blog. The border frame is from Mat Stack 4 Collection, stamped with the corresponding ink on an Avery shipping label. I trimmed the sides to fit the tag.

I am so very happy how this turned out and LOVE it!

I'll be doing an index/swatch for the other brands too. :)

I didn't exactly follow the sketch to the letter and I hope this is ok :)

Angelica has been colored with Copics then cut out. I cut off her wings and mounted Angelica on 3d foam and then stuck her wings flat on the base. Little rabbit and the butterfly was also mounted on 3d foam. The front grass and clouds are die cuts.

Inside flap - wanted a jumbo looking flower there. :)

Did a semi-repeat of the front frame but used the parisian scraps. Added pearls on the corners. I forgot to take a photo of the folded note paper for writing. I didn't adhere it yet. I planned on writing on it then sticking it on top of the green DP leaving a white border around :)

Side shot where I hope you can see the wings is "lower" than the fairy.

Front card base. I used Spellbinders Parisian Accents. I really liked how this looked and wished the white borders would show too but the colored cover was too big so I decided to do the frame thing for the inside but with a smaller square inside - did I make sense? :)

My card when closed..

I made a winter card for this challenge because I really wanted to use Crystal Flakes. She was colored with Copics. I applied glitters on her wings. White Glitter on her fur trimmings. Stickles on the snowflakes.

Card base is 5 1/2" x 5 1/2"

Scallops are Magnolia die

Adhere the base of the kraft cs (for note writing) on top of the strip of folded scallop, covering a bit of the strip I mean. Just to make sure it's sturdy.

Tested the whole card closed before I adhered the blue scalloped cs (topper?) with image on top.

I did not fully glue to flourishes on the kraft cs. I left the upper portions free (or whatever area will not touch the scalloped topper) I applied transparent glitters on the flourishes using Spica Glue pens for extra glimmer/shine/bling and.. I can still stamp a sentiment in between the flourishes where I placed my water mark too :)

I almost used a silver snowflake charm to help keep the image in place (for the easel style) but that would make the card bulkier and harder to close. I am only too happy the scallop portion can "lock" on the kraft base. With a little tweaking of course. ;)

The white cs is not yet adhered to the kraft base. It'll be easier to write on it if it's not attached to the card yet. I just placed it on top of the kraft cs for photo purposes.

To close, slide the top gently in between the flourishes and the kraft cs.

They'll serve as the "lock" for the card.

I am using the lovely Ice Cream Butterfly image from Belles N Whistles.

For the inside of my card, I used Ladybug grass. It's really a great stamp for backgrounds. :)

Card size is 5 1/2" x 5 1/2".

Papers are Basic Grey and PTI.

Sadly, this is my last post as a Belles N Whistles DT member.

Spring Card

HAPPY HEART'S DAY!!!!
I made a pink card for today's Belles N Whistles post :)

For this Springy card, I used 2 images. Jam Jars and Ladybug grass from the latest collection.

Oval and red oval frame were mounted on 3d foam.

Coloring was done with Copics.

Flowers: button and silk flower from stash, lower flower (plaid) PTI

Flourishes are from MFT.

I have no idea what the DP is .. sorry.

Here's my card...

I used Pepper with Gift from the Christmas Collection. She was colored with Copics, cut out and mounted on 3d foam. I cut out the gift she was holding and replaced it with a MS heart scallop punch. Center of heart was colored with a red copic marker. I also tried to make it look like she is wearing a lace headband, ribbon and a part of her dress. Card is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".

Sugar Bowl 77: Love

For this Sugar Bowl challenge,

we have a fun sketch from Kiki with an option of making Love themed cards.

Please use a Sugar Nellie image and the sketch of course.

Here's my take on the sketch...

I've used darling Rosie (minus her halo). She was colored with Copics, cut out and mounted on 3d foam. I've also added glitters on her dress. The envelope behind her was custom made because I wanted the heart to poke out the way it does now :) Papers are My Mind's Eye. Edges of grey DP were hand stitched with interchanged pink and blue thread.

I used scraps (back design of the pink laced banners) for the envelope liner. The Spellbinders classic and scallop hearts die cuts were paper pierced and sponged. Sentiments are PTI. I was able to put 2 hearts in the envelope. I think a 3rd one would fit too?

Inside... Using the largest Spellbinders Shapeabilities Heart die, I sponged the areas around it. I then stamped the sentiment on top. Ribbon and hearts are MS punch outs. Border dies are from MFT and I did some hand sewing for the border.

Hand sewed edges with pink thread and silver on the heart border. I sponged the edges with pink ink and I again stamped Rosie (minus halo) with light Pink to make her look like a watermark. Edges were stickled :) The DP with the writing is the half of the blue striped DP on the cover (back portion of the DP showing).

Sugar Bowl 76: Paper Piecing

Hello everyone and a very late Happy New Year!

Here's my take on the sketch...

I used the image called Let them eat cake... as a girl. She is really a fairy but I chose to remove her wings and "pom pom-med" hairband. You can do this with almost all the fairies I think. She is my first try as an ordinary girl. ;) She's part of the October release at Funky Kits and I only got to ink this cutie now.

Paper pieced her dress and shoes. I wanted to paper piece her hair too but couldn't find a nice looking color for it so scrapped the idea. DP for the dress is Basic Grey. All other DP used are from Melissa Frances 6x6 Kitschy collection pad. I also used clear and red Spica pens and bits of glitter on her clothes, shoes, hairband and the cake.

Open first flap. Base is kraft paper. Used Magnolia scallop dies. The papers on the flap are all from scrap. I did not cut the white space (the top portion from the paper pad) off from the gingham DP - it's showing underneath the blue scallops. Same with the blue DP.. the whites are under the scrap of horizontal paper cut from the striped paper... um, that made sense to you? :)

Full card opened. Filigree border is from PTI. I stamped Pippi Longsocks (minus wings as much as I could) with light brown ink but it smudged badly so I topped it with Yellow Spica pen. She is pretty sparkly now :) Sentiment is by SU! Again, did some surgery with the scraps of DP I used on the cover.

Faye and Freddie were colored with Copics. Before airbrushing the background, the image was masked. The round frame was taped on a 5 1/4" square white paper when I airbrushed, so the background scene would have continuity. :) I know the top of the white round frame looks wider , maybe it's because I took the photo at a high angle? It's really equal.

The round lacey looking frame is an old Inque Boutique stamp. It was a quarter shape and I had to stamp it four times to make a circle. I stamped it with white pigment ink then applied mica powder on top as a last minute add. It's really a shimmery shimmery card. I know, I should have used versamark or was it glue pad? :( I couldn't find them so I used white pigment ink that was on the table...

When I made the card last month, my craft stuff were mostly packed (still am remodeling our room) so I had to use what was on hand. :)

Wings were colored with aqua twinkling h20s and I added some glitter for dots using a quickie pen. If I had another chance to redo, I would use tiny rhinestones on her wings for the dots instead of silver glitter dots. Added gold glitters on the flower centers on her hair.
