Moms and newborns have routinely received the Tdap vaccine during their stay at Columbia Center. Now, through our participation in the Wisconsin Vaccine Cocooning Program, you can also protect your infant by protecting your family with the Tdap vaccine. During your postpartum stay, family members and care givers over the age of seven can receive the Tdap vaccine for $15 per person.

After 46 years as an OB Technician, Pauline Brown is hard pressed not to have mixed emotions about her my retirement from Columbia Center on April 27, 2012. “I look forward to new endeavors but I’m also glad to be able to look back at my years at Columbia Center with joy and happiness,” says Pauline Brown.Pauline has had many joyful memories and experiences working with Columbia Center. She will remember the family atmosphere at Columbia Center where, as she puts it, “the Columbia Center staff is a family taking care of other families.

Getting to know our Childbirth Education Classes

Columbia Center is now offering greater flexibility with its six-week childbirth preparation series of classes. If your schedule doesn’t permit you to take all six classes or if you feel you are a pro on one of the six major topics to be covered, you can simply go a la carte with the classes. Pertussis or whooping cough may sound like a disease of a bygone time.Despite vaccination as part of the DTaP series, pertussis is on the rise again. Infants who have not received the entire round of vaccinations and teenagers or adults whose immunity has faded are the most susceptible to contracting this highly contagious bacterial infection. Babies six months and younger are at the greatest risk. Even fully vaccinated children can get infected since the pertussis vaccine is only about 85 – 90 percent protective.
