The Trojan Sexual Health Report Card, an annual ranking of sexual health at American colleges and universities, saw Columbia University take top honors as the most sexually healthy campus in 2010. Consistently high scores across all categories measured contributed to the school's rise from No. 4 last year and No. 2 in 2008.

According to independent research firm Sperling's BestPlaces, which fielded the study, Columbia's number one ranking is also due to the school's implementation of an innovative new internet resource called "Ask Alice," which gives students the option to submit sexual health questions anonymously online rather than going to the health center.

"The 'Ask Alice' program has been well-received and has actually been mirrored by a number of schools around the country," said Bert Sperling, president of Sperling's BestPlaces. "Columbia has always scored high in sexual health, ranking in the top ten in the two previous studies for consistent availability of on-site HIV testing, free condoms, anonymous advice capabilities and student peer groups. This combined with the success of 'Ask Alice' helped propel them to the number one spot in our study."

Nostalgic note: Sugarcane used to be the “Corkscrew Winebar”, which by the way, was the venue for the Feb 22, 2007 InterClub Happy Hour – the happy hour that started our three and a half year running streak of InterClub events!

The September *InterClub Happy Hour is hosted by Tufts and will be held at Sugarcane. Sugarcane specializes in organic and locally-sourced mixed cocktails, as well as organic and local beers. They also have happy hour specials from 4-7, and have a limited selection of bar food, including pizza.

2010 marks the 150th anniversary of the Tufts alumni association, and regional chapters worldwide are celebrating by participating in the 150 Acts of Active Citizenship initiative (http://tuftsalumni.org/events-reunions/one-hundred-fifty-acts-of-active-citizenship/). In honor of this, we would like to request that attendees bring non-perishable food items to this happy hour for donation to the Houston Food Bank. Sugarcane has kindly offered to advertise this drive via their Facebook and email distribution list so that patrons can drop off items in advance of the 28th. Since it is getting towards the end of hurricane season, why not rotate your hurricane food stash items by donating!

Our recent happy hours were very well attended and we saw many new faces. The Houston *InterClub now has a FaceBook page !

*The Houston InterClub is an informal "nexus" of Houston Ivy+ Alumni groups: Babson, Barnard, UC Berkeley, Brandeis, Brown, U of Chicago, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Duke, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, MIT, Mt. Holyoke, Northwestern, Penn, Princeton, Richmond, Smith, Stanford, Tufts, Vassar, Washington U, Wellesley, and Yale.
