I think critiism of Darwin's Origin was legitimate but poorly expressed. This misunderstanding contributed to a maligency in the context of instituions. Just a really interesting period of scientific history, things have changed by not really though.

I think they make the common error of ascribing the 4 condensed modern equations to the list of 20 he came up with at the time. I also really enjoyed the insight he spent some time summarizing and investigating the work of Faraday and Cavendish. I am a little afronted by the claim that he proved lines of force when he concluded they were feeble junk science

A quaker and a teacher and came up with the idea of atomic masses. I really liked the fact that he was taken with the weather and how it held the rain. I think it is a sign of ignorance of how they pass on the insight that oxygen holds more water vapour than nitrogen because it is bigger and heavier. They really show their ignorance when not understanding Quantum Physics and the impact of passing on incorrect explanations.

Look I thoroughy like this scientist because of his humility and connection with his strokes. It is really touching. The way his wife Sarah stood by him was great. Again we are let down by the lack of scholarship here, and appauling ignorance about lines of force and how they are infact Junk science given life support by misguided teachers.

How can you not say his is on the spectrum. The role of Ada Lovelace is nothing short of amazing only to be matched by the lack of higher level understanding of the authors. The idea of a deteorating Babage tortured to death by organ grinders is so powerful. I think it is important to see the impact of a big project like this on the scientific revolution, like the space race and modern science.

We are getting a little better with this article. The long penis of Darwin's barncel might have been a distraction for him but there were so many other moving parts that resulted in net stagnation here.  I find it most moving to think seeing his own children die must have moved him on his perception of Natural Selection.  I find his last work on the evolution of emotions just to cosmic for me.

Sweden's Flower King

I like Uppsala's University's rector saying "We swedes are slow boring people". But Linneaus was the true Flower Power person of the 60's, the 1760's sending six swedes to their death collecting flowers, Oh well the did really enrich my garden. I loved the fact that he grid planted to fit his classification scheme. They left out the bit where he made a floral clock that used flowers that opened at different times of the day. It was deeply important how this developed a reason for having scientists on exploration journeys.
