We all want to make a difference. We want to be involved in doing something that will make our lives count. And yes, we often want some kind of recognition and other people’s praise for what we do. But it’s important to remember that our eternal significance is not found in doing things that others see as important. God wants us to experience real significance, and that significance only comes through his unconditional love and total acceptance, and our fulfilling his plan for our lives. Psalm 139:13–16 tells us:

“Certainly you made my mind and heart; you wove me together in my mother’s womb. I will give you thanks because your deeds are

amazing. You knew me my bones were not hidden from you, thoroughly; when I was made in secret and sewed together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw me when I was inside the womb. All the days ordained for me were recorded in your scroll before one of them came into existence.”

Each one of us has been designed by God for a special purpose! God has fashioned each one of us individually; he created us, formed us, and knows us by name. You may be thinking, “Really, has God designed little old me for something special in this world?” Numerous places in the Bible confirm that the answer to that question is a definite “Yes!” In the Old Testament, we read, “From the place where he lives he looks carefully at all the earth’s inhabitants. He is the one who forms every human heart, and takes note of all their actions” (Psalm 33:14–15).

Before You Even Ask!

In Genesis 37, the brothers of Joseph hated him so much that they threw him into a deep pit and were going to leave him there to die. But just then they saw a caravan of Ishmaelite merchants coming their way, and they decided to sell Joseph to them. What’s interesting is that the trade caravan had been travelling for months on their way to sell their goods in Egypt. Long before Joseph was thrown into the pit, the answer was already on the way. Long before Joseph had the problem, God had the answer already set up.

God knows what you’re going to need when you’re going to need it, and how to get it to you. The problem you’re worried about, God has the answer already en route. The vindication, the healing, or the breakthrough is already set up. When you’re tempted to worry, remember that everything you need to fulfil your destiny is right on schedule. It may not have happened yet, but what God has ordained is on the way.

Action Point:

Father, thank You that before I even ask You for my needs and desires, You’ve already lined them up and have them headed my way. Thank You for the people, the favour, and the promotion You’ve ordained to come across my path. I believe that even now, answers to my prayers are on the way. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Deploy Your Potential

Great men are men of great exploits. To live on earth without making a mark for the kingdom is to live a wasted life.

One way to do great exploits for God is to release your potential. Potentials determine possibilities.

The decision to fully deploy our potential to the benefit of our generation is key to making generational impacts. God expects us to release all that He has deposited in us to our generation, and our generation is eagerly waiting to benefit from our potential.

The way a Nigerian police officers would ask someone, 'Oga, waiting you carry for boot?' (What is in your boot?), is the same way your generation will ask you, "what are you carrying inside of you"

So, when you deploy your potential to your generation, you are impacting your generation.

From our text passage, we can ascertain that the gift of a person does not only make room for him but can catapult him from nothingness to prominence.

Beloved, your gift is your key to your lift; your gift is your vehicle to your destiny.

When Jesus was on trial before His crucifixion, Peter denied that he knew Jesus three times. Peter was so bitterly disappointed in himself, so ashamed of being a coward. Soon after that, they crucified Jesus. Peter never had the chance to tell Him he was sorry. He had to live with the guilt. But when three women found Jesus’ tomb was empty, an angel told them to go tell His disciples and Peter that He was alive. The only disciple specifically pointed out was Peter. God was showing us, “I don’t define you by your mistakes. I don’t cancel your destiny because you’ve failed.” And fifty days later, it was Peter who gave the inaugural message that birthed the Church.

You may have made mistakes and failed, as Peter did, but you have to learn to forgive yourself. Quit remembering what God has forgiven and forgotten. His mercy is bigger than any mistake you’ve made.

God is saying, “Get back in the game. You can still do what I called you to do.”

THE POWER GIFTS

BIBLE READING: NUMBERS 16:28-33; LUKE 6:1-6; ACTS 10:38; 1CORINTHIANS 12:8-10

2 Corinthians 12:12 (NKJV): "Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought amongst you in all patience; in signs, in wonders and mighty deeds."

During our previous devotional, we studied the Revelational Gifts i.e., the Word of Wisdom, the Word of Knowledge and the Discerning of Spirits. Today, we shall be analyzing the Second Group of Gifts of the Spirit namely the Power Gifts. This Group of Gifts is a Cluster of Three Gifts which clearly show His Might i.e., the Gift of Faith, Working of Miracles and the Gifts of Healings.

(1.) The Gift of Faith: This is a Supernatural Impartation of Special Faith which enables the recipients to trust God for any kind of miracle.

(Mk. 11:22-24) The literal translation from the Greek of the aforementioned Scripture is "Have the Faith OF God" (vs 22) This God-kind of Faith empowers us to receive the God-Kind of results.

(2.) The Working of Miracles: This is a Supernatural Ability to work diverse miracles i.e., occurrences which defy logic or reason.

(2Kgs. 6:1-7) The key difference between the Gift of Faith and the Working of Miracles is that the former is passive (receiving miracles) while the latter is active (working miracles).

(3.) The Gifts of Healings: This is the Supernatural Ability to heal various types of sicknesses or ailments without the aid of medicine or drugs.

(Jn. 5:1-9) One major difference between the Working of Miracles and the Gifts of Healings is that the former is instant and often creative while the latter is often gradual and progressive. (Lk. 17:11-19) Another point worthy of note is that the Gifts of Healings are the only set of Spiritual Manifestations that appears in the plural due to the wide spectrum of maladies and diseases known to man.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, we thank You for access to the Power Gifts. O Lord, please grant us the Grace to become conduits of Your Power in Jesus' Mighty Name. Amen.

THE SPIRIT OF GRACE AND TRUTH

BIBLE READING: JOHN 1:1-17; PSALM 85:10; 89:14; PROVERBS 16:6

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His Glory, the Glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father, full of Grace and Truth" John 1:14(KJV).

The Bible is very explicit in placing Grace and Truth together. As a Christian believer, you can't have the former without the latter otherwise you will go off course. The problem with a major part of our Christianity today is that most of us gravitate more to one side or the other. In other words, the vast majority of us are either primarily Truth people or Grace people which has created a lot of friction in the Body of Christ as though the two are opposites. But, you see, Jesus was full of both. He was balanced in both. He wasn't 50% Grace and 50% Truth. He was 100% Grace and 100% Truth. Grace and Truth must work together to produce a Whole and Balanced Christian Life (Jn. 17:17).

The Merriam Webster dictionary defines grace as "Unmerited Divine Assistance granted to humans for their Regeneration or Sanctification. Biblical Truth is defined as the Knowledge of God's Law and its Application. Both put together simply means "God's Unmerited Divine Assistance to a person for his Regeneration and Sanctification to know God and obey His Laws." Grace enables you to apply God's Truth which you otherwise can't achieve on your own. Grace without Truth is like a sailboat without a rudder while Truth without Grace is like a sailboat with a rudder but no wind. When both are present, the believer will go forward in the right direction (Eph. 4:15).

Grace is not a licence to sin but rather produces Enabling Power for obedience. We see in Titus 2:11-12 how Grace and Truth are inseparable in producing Sanctification in the life of the believer. It says there that "Grace teaches us". That was Grace working with Truth. We also see in Heb.12:28 that Grace enables us to serve God acceptably.

Jesus told us that "The Truth will make us free." (Jn. 8:32)* In other words, Grace SETS us free while Truth MAKES us free i.e., keeps us walking in liberty. Therefore, having Grace without pursuing the Truth of God's Word to live by it will keep us in bondage to sin and satan. On the other hand, having Truth without Grace produces legalism. Grace and Truth came through Christ. (Jn. 1:17). It means that we already received the Spirit of Grace and Truth when we received Jesus into our hearts. Hence, it must be activated by praying in the Spirit and constant Study of God's Word (Eph. 5:18; Col. 3:16).

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, we thank You for giving us the Spirit of Grace and Truth through our Lord Jesus Christ. Please help us continue to activate and live out a Balanced Christian Life by manifesting both in Jesus' Mighty Name. Amen.

Dead-End Job

1 Corinthians 15:56-58: The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the Law; but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be firm, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

The term “dead-end job” is one you have probably either heard or known through experience. It is used to describe a job without any path for advancement. These jobs are difficult because they often feel purposeless. When it feels like there is no purpose, it is hard to stay motivated, and when it’s hard to stay motivated, it is easy to get distracted or burnt out.

Likewise, in our faith, there are times when it seems like our efforts are pointless. We volunteer in a thankless role; we see our culture shifting away from the things we value; we share the gospel and get turned down. Moments like these may make us feel like we are in a “dead-end job” of faith. It may tempt us to ask, “What is the point?” If you have ever felt this way, be encouraged by the verses today! We have victory through Jesus Christ. Tony Evans says, “You are not fighting for victory—you are fighting from victory. This battle has already been won!”[1] We can be firm, immovable, and always excelling in the work of the Lord because He has paved the path before us. Fighting from victory reminds us that the victory we have is not a result of our strength or works but Jesus. When our purpose is in Him, we can serve a stranger, love our enemy, and encourage one another, confident that these moments are valuable in the kingdom of God, whether we feel like it or not.

The Battle Turns

Psalm 56:9, (TLB): The very day I call for help, the tide of battle turns. My enemies flee! This one thing I know: God is for me!

We all go through times when we don't think we'll win our battles, seasons of darkness when nothing is changing. You may have been believing for a long time for things to change in your marriage, your finances, or with an addiction, e.t.c. but the obstacle seems permanent. You have to walk by faith and not by sight when there's no evidence that it's a new day and the battle has turned. Our Bible verse says that the moment you prayed in the dark, the battle turned.

Now instead of complaining about the dark situations. have a new perspective. Who can stop the sun from rising each morning? All the forces of darkness cannot stop what God has promised you from coming to pass. You may not see anything improving, but my challenge is to trust Him in the dark. The sun is going to come up sooner than you think. The battle has already turned. Daybreak is about to happen. Get ready for a favour, get ready for breakthroughs, get ready for freedom, get ready for promotion.

Prayer: Father, thank You that You hear every prayer that I whisper in the dark, and You see me standing in faith. Thank You that in the unseen realm You turn the tide of the battle because You are for me. I believe and declare that nothing can stop what You have promised me from coming to pass. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

THE SPIRIT OF KNOWLEDGE AND THE FEAR OF THE LORD

BIBLE READING: ISAIAH 11; PSALM 25; PROVERBS 2; 1JOHN 4

Isaiah 11:2(NKJV) : "The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding; the Spirit of Counsel and Might, the Spirit of Knowledge and the Fear of the Lord."

Isaiah 11:2 reveals to us the Seven Spirits or Expressions of the Holy Ghost which prophesied the Fullness of the Holy Spirit that would be upon the Lord Jesus. This is also a Prophetic Promise for those in our day who are willing to be filled with the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of the Lord is the Holy Spirit. The other Spirits or Expressions of the same Spirit listed in this verse are describing the Fullness of the Holy Spirit, with Three Streams flowing from each side. The Attributes from each side are placed together in one Spirit to bring the Balanced out Outpouring and Fullness of the Holy Spirit. Wisdom goes with Understanding, Counsel goes with Might, and for this message, Knowledge goes with the Fear of the Lord. It is this Fullness of the Holy Spirit we should press into for our lives “…that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” (Eph. 3:19).

You may think your stack of books can teach you everything but there are some things only the Holy Spirit can teach you. Jesus promised this: “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My Name, He will teach you all things…” (Jn. 14:26). If you want a Fuller Knowledge of God, you need to have a Greater Filling of the Holy Spirit. Let this desire burn in your heart and “… be filled with the Spirit” (Eph. 5:18).

The Spirit of Knowledge and the Fear of the Lord go together because without having the Proper Fear of God, we are unable to even begin to understand the Knowledge of for “The Fear of the Lord is the Beginning of Knowledge…” (Prov. 1:7). To gain worldly wisdom requires much effort but to gain Heavenly Wisdom requires many submissions: “… put on the New Man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him” (Col. 3:10). If you have a Living Faith, it will not flatline with the Knowledge of God “that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him… increasing in the Knowledge of God.” (Col. 1:10).

The more knowledge you have of God, the more you will fear Him “that all the peoples of the Earth may know the Hand of the Lord that it is Mighty, that you may fear the Lord your God forever” (Josh. 4:24).

We must fear the Lord before He can teach us. “Who is the man that fears the Lord? Him shall He teach in the way He chooses” (Ps. 25:12). When you fear God, you will come to know Him. “Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God” (Prov. 2:5). If you know God, it will show because “He who does not love does not know God, for God is Love” (1Jn. 4:8).

Don’t let religion hinder your faith “For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, and the Knowledge of God more than burnt offerings” (Hos. 6:6). The more you know in advance, the less you will suffer the consequences afterwards for “My people are destroyed for lack of Knowledge…” (Hos. 4:6). Fearing the Lord acknowledges His Power over you while knowing Him acknowledges His Great Love for you. With God, Fear and Love go together: “And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him…” (Deut. 10:12). The unbeliever does not fear God but turns his back on Him. God said, “…you have forsaken the Lord your God, and the Fear of Me is not in you…” (Jer. 2:19).

Fear men less, and fear God more. Jesus taught, “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matt. 10:28). The problem today is people water down the idea of fearing the Lord by trying to lessen what the word fear means. Fear simply means fear. “My flesh trembles for fear of You, and I am afraid of Your judgments” (Ps. 119:120).

The Fear of the Lord is the Key that unlocks the Secrets of Heaven. “The Secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him…” (Ps. 25:14).You cannot be holy apart from the Fear of the Lord for “…by the Fear of the Lord one departs from evil” (Prov. 16:6). In a nutshell, the Spirit of the Fear of the Lord is essentially the Spirit of Holiness.

PRAYER: Father, I pray that the Spirit of the Fear of the Lord should rest on me mightily that I might know You more and be able to have access to Deep Things in Jesus' Name. Amen.

The Spirit Of Counsel And Might

THE SPIRIT OF COUNSEL AND MIGHT

BIBLE READING: ISAIAH 11: 1-5; ISAIAH 40:28-31; EZEKIEL 36:24-33

Isaiah 11:2(NKJV) : "The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding; the Spirit of Counsel and Might, the Spirit of Knowledge and of the Fear of the Lord."

The Spirit of Counsel and Might are Two Key Expressions of the Holy Spirit that go in tandem with each other. First of all, the Spirit of Counsel provides us Divine Guidance. You may have all the counsel in the world, but without the Guidance and Clarification of the Holy Spirit, you can only go so far. The Spirit of Counsel shows you what to do with Divine Clarity as stated in the Scriptures:

(Ezek. 36:27) : “I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My Statutes, and you will keep My Judgments and do them.”

You can only know if you were really led by the Holy Spirit by where you finally end up. “Your ears shall hear a Word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it…”.(Isa. 30:21). The Holy Spirit can guide us if we would only follow. Jesus said, “However, when He, the Spirit of Truth, has come, He will guide you into all Truth…” (Jn. 16:13).

In Isaiah 11:12, we learn about the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of Might. The term "might" used in this verse is a derivative of a Hebrew word called "Gibbor" which means, “champion,” “strong,” “mighty,” or “he who excels.” That term is also associated with a Name of God i.e., El Gibbor, which translates to "The Mighty God." (Gen. 49:24; Ps. 50:1). The Spirit of Might is the Manifestation of Holy Spirit revealed when God wants to show Himself Strong. He always wants to do this during the establishment of an ordained work so it will be clear that He is its Source and Sustainer.

We call on El Gibbor to see Victory and Strength in any situation but we welcome the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of Might when we need to see perpetual progress and ongoing victories. Like the Spirit of Counsel, the Spirit of Might comes to rest on us and His Presence acts as a Wall of Fire around us that eviscerates loss. He does not always alleviate challenges or the need to fight the Good Fight of Faith because sometimes we have to contend. But we never have to lose. God has already fought and won the battle for us. (Josh. 23:10), and the Spirit of Might teaches us how to live in Victory rather than just experience it periodically. In addition to keeping us from losing battles, the Spirit of Might keeps us from losing faith, hope, territory, time and progress. He does this by encouraging us to be strong and courageous. Creating and establishing something new always takes courage, and the Spirit of Might is in our lives to help us to be brave.

PRAYER:

Father, I pray that You fill me with the Spirit of Counsel and Might so that I can excel in Your Purpose for my life in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Understanding Spiritual Gifts

ROMANS 11:29; ROMANS 12:6-8; EPHESIANS 4:8

1 Corinthians 12:4-7(KJV): "Now there are Diversities of Gifts, but the Same Spirit. And there are Differences of Administrations, but the Same Lord. And there are Diversities of Operations, but it is the Same God Which worketh all in all. But the Manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal."

Spiritual Gifts are Supernatural Abilities given to believers to enable them fulfill the Mission of the Church and their God-given life assignments. God does not give people an assignment to accomplish or a responsibility to carry out without giving them the corresponding authority and enablement to accomplish it. Simply put, there is no believer without an assignment and a Spiritual Gift to back it. (1Cor.12:7). The difference is the extent to which it has been developed and the extent to which it has been used.

From 1Corinthians 12:4-7 it is clear that there are Three Main Categories of Spiritual Gifts:

(1.) The Gifts of the Spirit: They are nine in number and fall under the Jurisdiction of God the Holy Spirit. (1Cor. 12:8-11)

(2.) The Administrations of the Lord: Also known as Ministry Gifts, these are five in number (Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers) and fall under the Jurisdiction of God the Son. (Eph. 4:8-11)

(3.) The Operations of God the Father: These are seven in number (the Seven Mountains or Spheres of Society) and fall under the Jurisdiction of God the Father. (Rom. 12:6-8)

The Purpose of Spiritual Gifts is manifold i.e., for ministry, for serving humanity, evangelizing the world and saving men's lives and destinies. There is no one in Christ without a ministry. Your Spiritual Gifts are one of the Major Pointers of the particular ministry or office that God has called you into. The Nine Gifts of the Spirit are given to the individual believer who is equipped with a specific combination of Spiritual Gifts is given to the Church as a Ministry Gift. Then the Church with all the individuals inside it is now given to the world to bring God's Kingdom and Influence into the different spheres of society. You have to pay the price in the place of prayer, a meditation on God's Word and consecration to discover your Spiritual Gifts, develop them and begin to use them to do the Work of the Ministry.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, please open our eyes to the different Spiritual Gifts You have endowed us with and the areas of Divine Assignment You have called us to serve in. May we continually pay the price to develop these Spiritual Gifts even as we continually deploy them in the service of the Kingdom in Jesus' Mighty Name. Amen

Death Could Not Hold Him Captive

Ephesians 1:19-20(KJV) "... And what is the Exceeding Greatness of His Power to us-ward who believe, according to the Working of His Mighty Power, which He wrought in Christ when He raised Him from the dead set Him at His Own Right Hand in the Heavenly Places...."

The Death of Jesus on the Cross would not have been as significant as it is with far-reaching implications for mankind if He did not rise from the dead. He conquered death and the grave because He knew no sin but was made to be sin for our sakes. (2Cor. 5:21) In other words, He bore our sin and their consequences so that we would not need to bear them.

This Victory over death and the grave has two major implications for the believer. One is that the consequences of the original sin of Adam's transgression, which is eternal damnation and separation from God, have been dealt with. (Rom. 5:17-19). All the sinner needs to do is to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and accept the Price that has been paid for his sins and his sinful nature. He also has to accept the Free Gift of Righteousness which imparts to him the ability to live right. (Rom. 5:15-16). Once he does that, he's reconciled back to God with the full rights of sonship.

The second implication is that He also became the first to rise from the dead thereby purchasing for us the same ability. Not only are we free from eternal damnation and separation from God but we are also free from the corruption of sin and the hold of the grave. The same way Jesus rose from the dead is the same way all the saints that were dead will rise from the dead at the trumpet sound. (1Cor. 15:51-58).

PRAYER: Lord, You died for our sins and You were raised from the dead for our justification. Please cause us to experience in full the Freedom and Victory that Your Death and Resurrection purchased for us in Jesus' Mighty Name. Amen.

Press Towards The Promise

Hebrews 6:12, NIV: Imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised

Are you facing a challenge today that seems overwhelming? Through faith and patience, you will see God’s promises come to pass in your life. Understand that the enemy always fights the hardest when he knows you are closest to your breakthrough. He’d leave you alone if he thought you were going to live in mediocrity. If you keep pressing on toward your promise, through faith and patience, you will get there. Don’t be like the Israelites in the Old Testament who were right next to the Promised Land when they talked themselves out of it. They said, “There are giants in the land. It’s too difficult.” No, don’t look at the obstacles in your life today; lift up your eyes because you 've Almighty God. Follow the example of Caleb who kept his focus on God and said, “Moses, we are well able to defeat these people. Let us go up at once and take the land!" Stand in faith and keep believing because God will take you to a places that you never dreamed. As you press toward the promise, you will see God’s hand of blessing in your life and He will lead you into your promised land!

When You Fall Down

Matthew 27:32 NIV: As they were going out, they met a man from Cyrene, named Simon, and they forced him to carry the cross.

When Jesus was being led out of the city to be crucified, the custom was that the person had to carry their cross. Jesus was so exhausted from the sleepless night, the suffering and pain of the trial, that He fell under the weight of the cross. God provided a man named Simon to be there to carry the cross for Jesus.

God is sending us the message that we don’t have to be strong all the time. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed. Sometimes the weight of what we’re carrying gets too heavy. It’s okay to say, God, I don’t think I can do this.” When you’re down, when you’re discouraged, God is not going to leave you there. He’ll always have someone to help lift you back up, someone to encourage you, someone to help you carry the load that you can’t carry. If it’s not an angel, God will send a person across your path. There will be a Simon there to help lift you back up.

PRAYER

Father, thank You that You don’t fault me for the times when I don’t have the strength on my own to do what I need to do. Thank You that You find a way to get me the help I need in times of trouble. I believe that You know just the right people to encourage and lift me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

The Ultimate Sacrifice

THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE

BIBLE READING: HEBREWS 8:1-13; HEBREWS 9:11-28; HEBREWS 10:3-20

"Whereas this One [Christ], after He had offered a Single Sacrifice for our sins [that shall avail] for all time, sat down at the Right Hand of God." Hebrews 10:12(AMP)

The question could reasonably be asked, "Why did God institute the sacrificial system in the first place? Why require from men what was inadequate and inefficient?" Different answers may be offered, but the earlier quotation from Hebrews indicates that we needed to be educated about sin and sacrifice to appreciate the Ultimate Sacrifice of Christ.

Animal sacrifice was inadequate for several reasons. Each animal sacrifice was involuntary, amoral and qualitatively different from the sinner on whose behalf it was offered. The intrinsic value of human beings, who are uniquely God’s Image-bearers, could not be adequately represented by an animal. Rather, an Appropriate Sacrifice must be fully human in value and capacity. At the same time, the Sacrifice needed to be Spotless and Unblemished, which disqualifies all of us because of the utter depravity of the human heart. (Rom. 3:23).

The Bible reveals that in the story of Abraham and Isaac in Genesis chapter 22, God tested Abraham’s devotion to the limit, but would not allow the sacrifice of Isaac. Abraham’s faith that God would provide for Himself a sacrifice was realized in a ram caught in a thicket and offered instead of Isaac.

It is in Abraham’s prescient words to Isaac, “God will provide for Himself the lamb” (Gen. 22:8) that the solution is found. Jesus Christ came as the “Lamb of God” (Jn. 1:29). The Father and the Son met at the Place of Sacrifice and in this case, the Son was the Sacrifice we needed. (Jn. 3:16)

The Lord Jesus Christ not only met every qualification necessary to be an Acceptable Sacrifice for sin but in His Death legitimized the animal sacrifices of the Old Testament which pictured His once for all work on Calvary. (Rom. 3.25).

In other words, the Lord Jesus was fully qualified to be the Perfect Sacrifice being genuinely human yet at the same time infused with Divinity as Co-Eternal and Co-Equal with the Father. He was in every way a Moral Being, having complete knowledge of good and evil yet remaining without sin despite the temptations (Heb. 4:15). Furthermore, His Desire to be the Perfect Substitute for sinners is described in Hebrews 10. He willingly came into the world to perform this service and thereby “offered One Sacrifice for sins forever” (Heb. 10:12). As a result, “by One Offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified” (Heb. 10:14).

Jesus’ Sacrifice on our behalf satisfies both aspects of substitution. He took our place as the Bearer of sin’s penalty and we take our place in Him in all His Perfections as our Representative before God. These twin aspects are beautifully seen when Paul writes that in the Sacrifice of Christ God “made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Cor. 5.21).

Because Jesus' Sacrifice on the Cross has forever satisfied God concerning the sins of His people, there is no longer any other sin offering He accepts (Heb. 10:18). The vital question to ask is this: Do I have a relationship with God? This was from the beginning the ultimate purpose of sacrifice, therefore, the restoration of a Broken Relationship with God. The way into a Genuine Relationship with God has always been by faith, not human works or religious rituals. (Heb. 6:1) But in Old Testament times, the very act of offering an animal sacrifice demonstrated faith in God’s Revealed Plan of Salvation. That Salvation reached its Climax on the Cross of Jesus Christ.

Just like the Israelites who came to the altar with his animal sacrifice, we must lay our hands on Christ, identifying ourselves with Him as our Substitute through Whom we are acceptable before God (Eph. 1:6-7). Any other offering will be rejected, like Cain’s, as inadequate.

The responsibility of believers, those who have already trusted Christ, is to approach God boldly in faith. (Heb. 4:12) All genuine Christians have an appreciation of the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ. This is our core belief, without which no one can be right with God. From the beginning, sacrifice was inaugurated by God. Indeed, three times in history, He provided the victim. First, in the Garden, He instituted sacrifice on behalf of rebellious Adam and Eve. Second, in response to Abraham’s faith, He provided a substitute for Isaac. Finally, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to be the Sacrifice to end all sacrifices. This Sacrifice satisfied the claims of justice so that He has been freely able to forgive all who come to God by Him (Heb. 7:25). The Adequacy and Completeness of Christ Jesus' Sacrifice for sin were confirmed by His Resurrection from the dead, for He “was delivered up because of our offences, and was raised again because of our justification” (Rom. 4:25).

PRAYER:

Father Lord, please give me a Revelation of the Ultimate Sacrifice of Christ Jesus and grant me the grace to walk in the Light of it in Jesus' Name. Amen.

The path of least resistance

Acts 5:40-41: They followed his advice; and after calling the apostles in, they flogged them and ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and then released them. So they went on their way from the presence of the Council, rejoicing that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame for His name.

At some point, you have probably heard the phrase, “the path of least resistance.” We use this phrase to refer to taking the easy way in a given situation, choosing the path that will cause the least pain and conflict. This phrase reveals how we typically view hardship. We see conflict and pain as things that slow down the journey of life or ruins it entirely. This is what makes these verses in Acts so profound and counter-cultural. The apostles were tried and beaten. They faced opposition and rejoiced. This idea is foreign to us and may even be difficult to view as realistic. Philippians 3:10-11 says, “I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead” (NIV).

When we strive to follow Jesus, it changes our whole lives. It changes how we live at church, how we live during the week, and how we endure suffering. The apostles rejoiced because they recognized the value of becoming more like their Savior. Even in the pain, they were able to see more clearly who He is and all that He endured so that they could have a relationship with Him. What if the suffering and hardship you experience today is another opportunity to call upon your Redeemer, to relate with Him in His suffering and grow in His likeness? Nothing is wasted in the kingdom of God; even in the moment that most people would call defeat, the apostles rejoiced because they knew the true victory.

THE BONES SHALL RISE AGAIN

BIBLE READING: EZEKIEL 37:1-10; JOB 14:7-9; MARK 11:22-24; EPHESIANS 2:4-5

“So I prophesied as He commanded me, and breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army. Then He said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They indeed say, ‘Our bones are dry, our hope is lost, and we ourselves are cut off!’ Therefore, prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “Behold, O My people, I will open your graves and cause you to come up from your graves and bring you into the land of Israel. Then you shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O My people, and brought you up from your graves. I will put My Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I, the LORD, have spoken it and performed it,” says the LORD.” Ezekiel 37:10-14(NKJV)

In the Book of the Beginnings, God was introduced as the Creator who made Heavens and the Earth. (Gen. 1-2) All things made were good and He holds all of Creation together as the Supreme Sovereign. (Col. 1:17). However, the Fall of Man in the Garden affected the Trinity’s Divine Agenda and the Dominion of Man was ceded to the god of this world (2Cor. 4:3-4) who has implemented the agenda he had in Heaven before he was thrown down. (Isa. 14:13-14) He has continued his threefold agenda which is to kill, to steal and to destroy. (Jn. 10:10) As a result of the activities of satan and demons, creation has been subject to bondage and the system became deplorable just like what was depicted in the Vision of Ezekiel in the Valley of the Dry Bones -: “… set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones. Then He caused me to pass by them all around, and behold, there were very many in the open valley; and indeed, they were very dry.” Ezekiel. 37:1b-2(NKJV).

Prophet Ezekiel was faced with a hopeless situation because the valley was full of dry bones which were totally disjointed and void of any trace of moisture, indicating years of desolation. The Scripture tells us emphatically that "with God nothing will be impossible." (Lk. 1:37) With the prophetic command given by God and the Move of the Spirit, each bone located its bone no matter how far away, finally paving the way for the emergence of an exceeding great army (Ezek. 37:10). The Spirit of God has Inherent Power to revive and redeem any seemingly hopeless situation.

The Vision also highlights the Restoration of Israel which has a Scriptural Parallel between national Israel and the Church of Jesus Christ. The Church is the Spiritual Israel (Gal. 3:29) and the valley of the dry bones represents the Church. God uses Ezekiel (a watchman) to bring restoration to the bones or the Church which is God’s Strategy for His End-Time Move in reaping the overripe Harvest. We are to yield totally, trust and partner with God by playing the role of a watchman reviving any dead thing or condition.

Are there issues or challenges looking extremely impossible to overcome? Remember the Lord Himself is still asking this question: "Is anything too hard for the Lord?" (Gen.18:14a) One major key to activating the prophetic is the Hand of the Lord which must come upon you to make your words effective. The Earth may be without form and void, and darkness upon the face of the deep, but if the Spirit of God hovers over the troubled waters of your life, there would be a turnaround. (Gen. 1:3)

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, I commit my valley of dry bones into Your Able Hands and believe You for a Mighty Intervention and Revival in Jesus' Mighty Name. Amen.

Make God's word a priority in your life.

John 14:23: Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will follow My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our dwelling with him.”

Most of us have certain voices of influence that hold power in our lives and can change our minds or make us reconsider our actions. If we aren’t careful, we miss the voice of God in the Bible and instead see His Word merely as a list of rules. As followers of Jesus, time in the Word is essential because it reminds us of who He is and the walk of faith He has for us. It leads us to rely on His work in us instead of our own.

The voices you gave influence in your life carry so much weight because of the time you’ve spent with those people. They know where you are, where you have been, and where you want to go. But unlike people, the Word of God is perfect. God knows us better than anyone. He truly knows what is best for us and what He has designed us for. The question is, will we trust Him? Will we believe His truth and seek truth in His Word? God has not left us alone. He has given us both His presence through His Spirit and direction through His Word. He wants to dwell with us and display His power in our lives as we follow Him each day. But do we trust Him? Will we listen?

PERSON OF THE HOLY SPIRIT: HIS WELL

During the previous devotion, we were in the process of proving the Personality of the Holy Spirit according to the Scriptures. Just like a man whom God created, the Holy Spirit has a Personal Soul which is the Seat of His Personality. (Ezek. 18:4)

The soul has three dimensions as seen in the previous devotion:

(1.) The Mind i.e., the part of the soul which thinks.

(2.) The Will i.e., the part of the soul which chooses.

(3.) The Emotions i.e., the part of the soul which feels.

The Holy Spirit has His Own Personal Will which is where all His Decisions are made. (2Pet. 1:21) For instance, Apostle Paul and his company during the second missionary journey tried preaching in the region of Bithynia: "After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, BUT THE SPIRIT DID NOT PERMIT THEM." Acts 16:7(NKJV)

The Holy Spirit didn't allow them to go into Bithynia because this wasn't His Will or Pleasure. He has a Grand Master Plan and Process which we must trust. (Prov. 3:5-6)

Anytime we want to do anything, it becomes needful for us to consult Him for He is the Director of our destinies. Let us endeavour to do all things "... according to the Counsel of His Will." Eph. 1:11(NKJV)

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, we honour You for the Gift of Your Holy Spirit. Let our will be subsumed by His Will in Jesus' Mighty Name. Amen.

Guard Your Mouth At All Cost

Proverbs 4:23, NCV: Be careful what you think, because your thoughts run your life.

Do you realise that your life follows your thoughts? You can’t think defeat and have victory, or weak and have strength, or not-able-to and accomplish your dreams. Instead of thinking weak thoughts, start thinking power thoughts. “This sickness is no match for me. This disease can’t stop my destiny. This business trouble is not how my story ends.” Victory starts in your mind. Success, breakthroughs and new levels depend on your thinking.

Are your thoughts helping you or hurting you? Are you thinking defeated thoughts such as, “I’ll never get well, never accomplish my dreams, never break this addiction”? You’re choosing the direction your life is going to go. Pay attention to what your mind is dwelling on. If it’s a negative, discouraging, fearful thought, don’t give it the time of day. Tune out that defeated thought and think power thoughts. Something good is going to happen to me. Favour is surrounding me like a shield. Goodness and mercy are following me. No weapon formed against me will prosper.” Think about what God says about you.
