Picnic In The Park
For our Picnic In The Park on Sunday, June 14th (after the service), please bring a lawnchair - and a salad or dessert to share. Hamburgers, hotdogs, and beverages will be provided. If the weather is poor, we will eat at the church.
Frontier Days Parade
Our church is excited to be participating in this year's parade (Saturday, June 27th) with our very own float!
We are looking for children to ride on the float. If your children/grandchildren are interested, please contact the church office.
The float theme will be similar to our VBS theme - "Outlaws For God" ... so if the kids have cowboy boots, cowboy hats, or other western gear, it would be great if they could wear them.

Back in the 80's, I was stuck. I needed to make a phone call but had absolutely no coins (yes, coins were a thing) to make a phone call from a phone booth near where my car had broken down. It was a local call so I couldn't call "collect" like I could if it were long distance without putting in a quarter...or was it a dime... (yes, I dialed "0" and asked if I could make a collect local call but the lady on the other end said it was impossible). So. I hacked the payphone. I happened to know that if you shorted out the handset, it would think you put some money in. My best guess that putting the dime (or quarter probably by then) into the phone would have it fit down the proper sized channel for that particular coin and then complete an electrical connection that would beep internally, allowing local calls.
By the way, when making a long distance call that required many coins, the operator on the line or the electronic "totalizer" inside the phone would count up the total audio beeps/signals to know how much you put in. Amazingly, when the long distance call was ended, she (yes, almost always a she) or the "totalizer" inside the phone would calculate the money back you should get, and then it would refund the proper amount of coins by sending similar signals back to the phone. This often provided me with extra washing machine money in college when I would check the coin return on the payphone in our dorm and find the odd coin or two that had been refunded but the caller had forgotten to check. Some poor fellow Bible college student is out $1.35 to this day.
So, back to my emergency. I could make a long distance collect call to someone else who I'd get to call my father but, for some reason (probably I didn't have a number memorized) I didn't do that. Instead I found a piece of wire in my van (maybe a paper-clip or similar) and inserted the wire into one of the little holes in the microphone end of the receiver and then touched the other end of the wire to some metal in the phone booth, and it "grounded" or maybe shorted and I got a dial tone and called my dad.
And that was the beginning and end of my hacking career.
Years later I noticed that payphones no longer had those holes in the talking end of the receiver so it must have been something they knew about and fixed. And, of course, today you can't even find a payphone to see for yourself!
There is no way to short circuit God's salvation. It's a gift. Period. You pick up the receiver of your heart by repenting and believing. That's answering the call of Jesus with "I do". No need to go through an "operator" to get the call through. No need to save up your good deeds to get enough to get the call through. Nope. Just pick up and He's there to welcome you with open arms.
Oh, and FYI, we answer the call and the Holy Spirit provides the change.
