Wondering how to split screen on your MacBook Pro, iMac, or Macbook Air? In the following article we will show you how to split screen on Mac along with some useful tips and tricks.

If you work with multiple applications and windows at the same time, it can be frustrating to constantly switch from one window to another. Depending on what you’re working on, you might need to look at two different windows at the same time. For instance, if you’re copying information from a document into a spreadsheet it can be helpful to see those two windows side by side.

The split screen feature should help you with that. As the name suggests it will split your screen into two halves and allow you to view two apps side by side simultaneously. For example, it is possible to have Safari in full-screen mode and then divide the screen into two halves to have another application, such as a text editor next to it. This is a very useful feature for all techies, as well as for regular users.

From the arrival of OS X El Capitan, Mac users can take advantage of applications in full screen and in a split view of the screen as well. The split screen on Mac devices is called Split View. Split View adjusts the window sizes automatically, and you can later adjust how wide you would like each window to be. Split View is pretty easy to use, although accessing it may be tricky until you get used to it.

There are two ways to access Split View or split screen mode on Mac and below we will explain both methods.

How To Split Screen on Mac From Any Window

Undoubtedly, the easiest way to access Split View from any window on macOS is as easy as holding the green maximize button which is located at the top left part of the window. The latest macOS versions like macOS Catalina and Big Sur differ a little bit in the steps required to access the Split View mode. Below we will show you the steps for macOS Catalina and Big Sur, as well as other versions of the operating system.

macOS Catalina and Big Sur

To split screen on macOS Catalina and Big Sur:

Step 1:

Head over to the top left corner of the window that is currently open, click and hold the green circle with outward arrows.

Step 2:

In the menu that appears, select the “Tile Window to the Left of Screen” or “Tile Window to the Right of Screen” options. The window will fill the chosen area. There is also an option to enter the full screen if you want to use it.

Step 3:

Now the only thing left is to select the second window you would like to open in the empty half of the screen.

Older Versions of macOS

This implies to all of the operating systems starting from OS X El Capitan all the way you macOS Catalina.

Step 1:

Head over to the top left corner of the window that is currently open, click and hold the green circle with outward arrows.

Step 2:

The window will shrink instantly and you will be able to drag it to the side of the screen of your choice.

Step 3:

Release the window to place it on the left or right side.

Step 4:

Now the only thing left is to select the second window you would like to open in the empty half of the screen.

How To Split Screen on Mac from Mission Control

Perhaps this way of accessing Split View on Mac isn’t as direct as the previous ones, but for the people who frequently use Mission Control can be a good option.

Step 1:

Access Mission Control on your macOS device. There are a few ways you can do this:

Press the F3 function key on your Apple keyboard,

Hold Control + Up Arrow keys at the same time,

Swipe up with three fingers on Magic Trackpad

Double-tap with two fingers on the surface of the Magic Mouse

Step 2:

All of the open apps will be automatically positioned and presented to you. Drag and drop the window you want to use in split screen to the top bar outside of any of the created desktops.

Step 3:

Drag the second window you would like to use in split screen mode over the thumbnail image of the first window you put in the top bar in the previous step. Now those 2 windows should be in split screen mode.

How To Adjust Windows in Split Screen Mode on Mac

In Split View mode it is possible to adjust the real estate of the screen that a certain window occupies. To do this, you just need to place the mouse cursor over the line between the two windows. When the mouse cursor becomes a horizontal line with an arrow at each end, simply click and move the separation line to the side you want. You will immediately see how both windows change their sizes.

How To Exit the Split View Mode on Mac

If you want to exit the Split View mode on your macOS device simply press the Escape button to return windows back to normal. This method may not work if the Escape button has a different function in one of the applications. In this case, you can click the green circle in the upper left corner of the window to exit one of the applications, the other window will go to the full-screen mode which you can then minimize.

For anyone that multitasks, the split screen feature is a must, especially if you have only one display at your disposal. What productivity tips do you use on your macOS device?
In the following article we will show you how to remove comments in Microsoft Word along with some useful tips and tricks. Additionally, you will also learn how to add comments in Microsoft Word.

Microsoft Word can be found in the Windows operating systems since 1989. It was at this time that the popularity of this word processor rose dramatically. Nowadays it is safe to say that Microsoft Word is one of the most popular word processing tools used by both companies and individuals on a regular basis. The use of Microsoft Word is very important in any office environment today. With Word, you can write and create any type of document, make graphs, and even simple designs for your writings. One of the many features it includes is the insertion of comments in the text.

The majority of casual users don’t know how useful the Review tab in Microsoft Word can be and in most cases, it ends up being underrated by them. Unless you are serious about writing or are part of a bigger writing team, chances are that you don’t know anything about adding comments and tracking changes in Microsoft Word. The edited text is usually crossed out in the document and new text is added with a different color making changes more noticeable. This way the editor will be informed of any changes made, and the writer will better understand potential improvements or editor preferences.

Feedback is also an important thing. Editors are happy because they can create a medium for suggestions that will not overlap or interfere with the actual text. Comments are shown on the side of the document and have a dotted line that leads to the part of the document where the comment is made. Comments can be beneficial to writers as well. Especially when working on large projects, comments can become something like short summaries of certain chapters or paragraphs. This helps writers maintain their focus while working on a piece.

There is also one BIG problem – too many comments in the document. This is especially true if the whole team is working on the same project where even the comment section can overflow once multiple people start sharing their thoughts and ideas. When it comes time to clean things up, knowing how to remove comments in Word is a must. Below we will show you methods you can use to remove comments in Word documents for Windows or Mac.

How To Remove Comments in Word on Windows and macOS

Removing comments in Microsoft Word can be done very easily in just a few clicks. The process is the same for both Windows and macOS.

Step 1:

Open the commented document and select the comment you want to delete.

Step 2:

Head over to the Review tab and click the arrow next to the Delete comment button.

Step 3:

After clicking on the arrow you will be presented with the 3 options to choose from:

Delete: delete the selected comment,

Delete All Comments Shown: delete all comments that are not yours;

Delete All Comments in Document: delete all comments.

Depending on what you have selected, different comments will be deleted.

It is worth mentioning the difference between Delete and Resolve. The resolve option found in the same section, allows you to keep the comment in the document, but make it less visible for later reference. In this way, the comment is not deleted, but is archived.

How To Add Comments in Word on Windows and macOS

The comment function in Word is activated by default, so it can be used at any time to include clarifications for readers of the documents.

Step 1:

Open the document you would like to add comments to and select part of the document that is in question.

Step 2:

Once the word or part of the document is selected, head over to the Review tab and click on the New Comment button.

Step 3:

The comment will be added to the right margin of the document or, rather, an empty box will show in which you can now write your comment.

In the following article we will show you how to merge cells in Excel along with some important things to look out for. You will also learn how to unmerge cells in Excel if needed.

Excel is a computer program developed by Microsoft Corporation and is part of the Office suite that includes programs such as Word, OneNote, OneDrive, PowerPoint, and others. Excel differs from previously mentioned programs because it allows users to work with numerical data.

Unlike with Microsoft Word which is a word processor, in Excel the data is organized in columns and rows that create cells where users can enter their data. With data stored in Excel cells, users can perform basic arithmetic calculations and apply more complex mathematical or statistical functions.

This data can then be used to generate reports and create easy-to-read graphs and pivot tables allowing for a better understanding of the data presented. With that said, Excel is truly a remarkable tool for storing and dealing with a great amount of data.

How To Merge Cells in Excel

When working within a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet often than not you will find yourself in a situation where it is necessary to merge two or more cells into one. This is usually needed if you have to add a heading or title to a row, column, or section on your spreadsheet. Follow the steps below and find out how to merge cells in an Excel spreadsheet.

How To Merge Cells in Excel From the Home Tab

Step 1:

Open a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that contains cells that you would like to merge.

Step 2:

Now you need to select the cells you would like to merge. Click on the first cell with the cursor, hold down the left button, and drag the mouse until all the cells you want to merge are selected.

Step 3:

Head over to the home tab and click on Merge & Center button in order to merge your cells. There is also a small arrow next to the Merge & Center button which opens various merging options upon clicking. Available options are: Merge & Center, Merge Across, Merge Cells, Unmerge Cells.

Note: The important thing to remember is that when merging cells in Excel, only the content of the upper-left cell is preserved. Text in other cells will be automatically deleted. If you want to retain the data from other cells simply copy it to another place before merging.

How To Merge Cells in Excel Using CONCATENATE Formula

Using CONCATENATE formula is a great way to merge cells without losing data in other merged cells. Most people would agree that this is actually a proper way to merge cells in Excel.

Step 1:

Open a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that contains cells that you would like to merge.

Step 2:

Using CONCATENATE formula actually means combining the data of multiple cells into one rather than merging them. So in this step, you need to select the cell you would like to be filled with data from the cells you want to merge.

Step 3:

Once you selected the cell head over to the formula bar and type =CONCATENATE(Cells you would like to merge separated by “,”). In our case the formula looks like this: =CONCATENATE(D12,D13,E12,E13)

Step 4:

Now you can merge desired cells like you normally would and simply copy and paste data you combined with CONCATENATE function to that new merged cell.

How To Unmerge Cells in Excel

Step 1:

Open a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that contains cells that you would like to unmerge.

Step 2:

Select the cell you would like to unmerge by clicking on it.

Step 3:

Head over to the home tab and click on the small arrow next to the Merge & Center button and select Unmerge Cells from the drop-down menu. Your cells should be unmerged now.

Note: Keep in mind that the data from the unmerged cells won’t be reverted to the values they were before merging them. If you don’t remember where your merged cells are, you can use the Find command to quickly locate merged cells in the spreadsheet.

We hope you enjoyed reading our article and that from now on you will merge cells in Excel like a pro. If you want to check other Excel tips and tricks, feel free to visit our blog.

Losing your iPhone doesn’t have to be a scary thing. In this article, you will learn what is Lost Mode on iPhone and how to use it in order to find your phone.

One of the things no one wants to experience is losing an iPhone. Not knowing where your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch is, or worse, if it has been stolen, can cause you a lot of stress, grief, and despair. So what do you do when you can’t find your expensive smartphone and how to act in these circumstances?

Luckily, there is the Find My feature on Apple devices that can help you reunite with your beloved Apple gadget. Simply head over to your iCloud, from where you can locate your device on a map. You can also use Lost Mode on iPhone which locks your device and displays a message for whoever finds it.

In addition to that, you can also play a sound on your lost device or wipe it clean so your dada wouldn’t get compromised. Moreover, your device doesn’t even have to be turned on in order to find it on a map since it can use a low-frequency Bluetooth signal to locate itself.

When you should use Lost Mode on iPhone?

Find my iPhone and Find My Mac can both be used to remotely track, erase or play sound on your device if you have lost it somewhere in your house. When you remotely erase your device you won’t be able to track it afterward. This is where Lost Mode on iPhone comes into action. This mode is mostly used when you have lost your device, but you haven’t given up on finding it.

When in Lost Mode, your device is locked and no one will be able to access it and go through your personal data. And a message will be shown on the screen for anyone who finds the device letting them know that the device is lost and that they should contact you. Your device will also be automatically put into Low Power Mode giving you more time to find it before the battery runs out.

Once you activate it, the Lost Mode acts on different fronts securing your device and your personal information:

1. Locks the device so that no one without the unlock code can access it.

2. Deactivates Apple Pay and similar features so that no one can use your iPhone to pay anywhere.

3. The screen will show a message for anyone who tries to turn it on or unlock it, giving information such as a phone number to call in case it has been found.

4. Sends an email to the owner informing that the device has effectively activated the Lost Mode.

How to enable Lost Mode on iPhone from the browser

In the following article, you will learn how to add error bars in Excel along with some useful tips and tricks on managing them.

Microsoft Excel is a computer program that is part of the bigger Microsoft 365 suite. The program consists of an arrangement of rows and columns that work like spreadsheets and facilitate the handling and interpretation of basically any type of data. It is also very customizable so each user can make it work according to his specific requirements.

MS Excel is mostly used for detailed data recording, as well as text processing and advanced calculations using mathematical functions. As if this is not enough, MS Excel also offers all the necessary tools to create beautiful graphs to present the desired information in a more visual and understandable way.

Moreover, the spreadsheet software has an interesting feature known as “error bars” which are basically a graphical representation of data variability. Simply said, they represent the precision of a measurement. Error bars usually show standard deviation or margin of error (how far the true value is from the determined one). We invite you to follow along and learn how to add error bars in Excel.

Types of Error Bars in Excel

There are three different types of error bars in Excel and in this part, we will go through each of them individually so you would have a better understanding of their meanings.

“Standard Error” error bar:

As the name suggests, it represents a standard error of the mean for all of the values in the chart. What we mean by that is that it shows how far the mean of the data is likely to be from the true value (true population mean).

“Percentage” error bar:

This one is fairly simple and straightforward. It shows the percentage variation for each data point. For example, if the percentage error bars have a 5% value and the data point value is 100 then the error bar will be somewhere between 95 and 105.

“Standard Deviation” error bar:

This error bar shows how close the bar is to the mean of the dataset. Microsoft Excel by default puts 1 as the value of the standard deviation, but you can change this manually if you want by going into the “More Options” menu.

“Fixed Value” error bar:

This shows the error bars where the margin of error is fixed. For example, you can specify the error bars to be 50 units, and then it will create error bars whose values will vary between -50 and + 50 units.

“Custom” error bar:

This one is great if you want to put your own custom error bars where you can specify the upper and lower limits for each data point. You can choose to keep the custom range the same for all of the error bars or you can individually customize each error bar. This can be very useful if you expect to have different variability for different data points.

Now we are ready to dive in and show you how to add error bars in Excel.

How to Add Error Bars in Excel

How to add error bars in Excel 2019, 2016 and 2013

Step 1:

Click anywhere on the chart and three icons will show on the right next to the chart.

Step 2:

Click on the “+” icon and the “Chart Elements” menu will appear.

Step 3:

Thick the error bars checkbox and click on the black triangle that will appear once you hover the cursor over the error bars option.

Step 4:

Now you only have to choose the error bar you want from the 3 available options: Standard Error, Percentage, or Standard Deviation (we explained each of them above).

How to add error bars in Excel 2010 and 2007

Step 1:

Click anywhere on the chart to activate the “Chart Tools” bar.

Step 2:

In the “Analysis group” which is under the “Layout tab” click on the “Error Bars” option and choose one of the following: Standard Error, Percentage, or Standard Deviation.

How to add error bars in Excel on macOS

Step 1:

Click anywhere on the chart to activate the “Chart Design” bar.

Step 2:

On the left side of the “Chart Design” tab click on the “Add Chart Element” option, then hover the cursor over the “Error Bars” menu and choose one of the following: Standard Error, Percentage, or Standard Deviation.

How to Delete Error bars in Excel

Deleting error bars in Excel is as easy as unthinking the error bar checkbox from the Chart Elements menu (Excel 2019, 2016 and 2013) or selecting “None” from the Error Bars menu (Excel 2010, 2007 and macOS).

If you are a fan of crossword puzzles then this article is for you. Below we will show you some of the best word game apps for iOS and Android devices. Check it out!

There are many types of mobile games like RPGs, action games, racing, adventures, platforms… But there are also other types, less popular ones, aimed at casual and occasional players. A perfect example of this are crossword-style word games. Although it seems so, these games are not aimed at children (you can always find some that are) and by playing them you will improve your vocabulary and keep your brain sharp.

Word games are enjoyable, mostly because they are simple and easy to play. Like in all game categories, there are a variety of word games to choose from. In ones you will need to unscramble anagrams, fill in crossword puzzles, and in others you will need to find words within massive blocks of letters. Despite most of them being similar to each other, there are also some rather unique ones available on the market. Below you will find some of the best word game apps you can play right away!

Wordscapes

Playing Wordscapes for just 10 minutes a day will shape your mind and get you ready for your daily challenges. The game is pretty easy at first, but as you progress through the levels it quickly gets harder. Each round only lasts a couple of minutes so it is perfect for quick brain-stretching. Wordscapes is an all-in-one word game. You can play word searching game, anagrams as well as crosswords! On top of that, the app has beautiful game backgrounds that will help you relax.

Available on: iOS and Android

Typochondria

This is a perfect game for anyone who gets itchy after spotting a big spelling mistake while reading books, magazines, movie titles, etc. The idea is to find a spelling mistake in the provided text before the time runs out. The game is surprisingly fun and dynamic, especially at the end when you have just a few seconds left to find a spelling mistake. Typochondria has an endless Zen mode as well where you can play without any fear of the time running out. You can choose from 4 different genres (Crime, Sci-Fi, Non-Fiction, or Romance) where each of them comes with its own unique vocabulary.

Available on: iOS and Android

Words With Friends 2

Words With Friends 2 is one of the world’s most popular word games with more than 10 million users. This version has more game modes than its predecessor including a mode where you can play against a fictional character as well as the multiplayer time-based team challenge mode. There are also weekly community challenges and flash events you can participate in, making this game really challenging. This is a great game you can play with your family and friends and stay connected with them wherever you are.

Available on: iOS and Android

Crossword Puzzle

As its name suggests, this is a crossword puzzle game with plenty of free content. It works like any normal crossword puzzle that you may find in newspapers. You get a lot of clues and all you have to do is type in the answers based on the clues you got. You can choose between hard, medium, and easy modes and you will be getting free packs of crosswords on a weekly basis. There is even an offline mode so you can do your crosswords wherever you are.

Available on: iOS and Android

Typeshift

Typeshift is quite an original crossword and anagram game, and above everything, it’s really fun. The game offers you rows with different letters that you have to move up or down in order to form a word. The objective is to complete all the rows and color all the tiles. The further you advance in the game, the more complicated it gets. Keep in mind that the first couple of levels are really easy, but as you progress levels become a lot harder, even impossible at first sight.

Available on: iOS and Android

These games can be really fun to play, but at the same time will improve your vocabulary, grammar and will train your brain. This is why everyone should be playing these kinds of games once in a while. If we forgot to mention some of your favorite word games feel free to let us know in the comments below.
In this article, we will teach you how to add double space on Google docs in a desktop browser or mobile app.

Google Docs is a free, cloud-based word processor that is full of incredibly useful features that makes it a good rival to Microsoft Word. It is also one of the most popular and most used collaboration tools available today which allows multiple users from various locations to work on the same document in real-time or at different times and time zones.

Google Docs is also a great tool for writers or anyone working on a project alone since they can access their writings from anywhere and can rely on the document being automatically backed up to the cloud. On top of that, Google Docs is very easy to use, but mastering all of its features (especially more advanced ones) can take a while. If you are wondering how to double space on Google Docs you are in the right place. Follow along.

Why use double space on Google Docs?

While the formatting you get out of the box in Google Docs or any other word processor is good enough for your everyday work, there may be other reasons why you would like to have larger spaces between lines. One of the main reasons for that is having some extra space for editing.

Double spacing is a standard format during the drafting phase of a document, especially larger ones like scientific papers or even book manuscripts. In rare times like this, it is good to know how to double space on Google Docs and make your work a lot easier. Below you will find various ways you can double space on Google Docs.

How to Double Space on Google Docs From the Menu Bar

When they want to change something on the document, most people will head straight to the menu bar to do so. You can use the menu bar to change the line spacing of your document in just a few simple steps.

Step 1:

Open the existing document or create a new one in Google Docs and highlight the part of the document that needs to be double spaced. If you don’t have any text in the document simply place your cursor where you want the double-spacing to start.

Step 2:

At the top left part of your screen click on the “Format” tab and the drop-down menu will appear.

Step 3:

Hover your cursor over “Line spacing” and another menu will appear. Now choose the line spacing option labeled as “Double”.

How to Double Space on Google Docs From the Toolbar

Although using a menu bar to double space on Google Docs is pretty easy, there’s an even easier way by using a formatting toolbar at the top of the page.

Step 1:

Open the existing document or create a new one in Google Docs and highlight the part of the document that needs to be double spaced. If you don’t have any text in the document simply place your cursor where you want the double-spacing to start.

Step 2:

Click on the “Line spacing” icon in the toolbar.

Step 3:

You will be presented with a drop-down menu that has different options for line spacing. Click on the option that says “Double”.

How to Change Line Spacing on Google Docs on Mobile Devices

Google Docs works a little bit differently on mobile devices than when you are using it in a web browser. You only have 4 options for line spacing on mobile devices (1, 1.15, 1.5, and 2) without an option to apply custom formatting.

Step 1:

Open the document in Google Docs mobile app (iOS or Android) and tap on the “Edit” (pencil) button located in the bottom right corner.

Step 2:

Now you need to select the part of the document that needs to be double spaced. You can do that by double-tapping the text.

Step 3:

Tap the “Format” icon (capital “A”) at the upper part of the screen and choose “Paragraph” from the menu.

Step 4:

In the “Line spacing” section use the arrows to choose the amount of space you want to have between lines in the selected paragraph.

Step 1:

Access your Gmail account through the browser on your PC or laptop. Simply type mail.google.com in the search bar of your search engine and sign in to your Gmail account.

Step 2:

Once on the main page of your Gmail account click the “All Mail” tab on the left side of your Gmail page. If you can not find it, click the “More” button and it should appear.

Step 3:

After the “All Mail” menu is open choose the message you want to unarchive by checking the box in front of the sender’s name. You can check multiple messages and unarchive them all at once.

How to unarchive Gmail emails on iOS

As on desktop, you can also unarchive Gmail emails on iOS devices as well. Simply follow these instructions and you will be all set up.

Step 1:

Open the Gmail application on your iOS device and make sure that you are signed in to your Gmail account.

Step 2:

After signing in to your Gmail account you need to go to the “All Mail” menu by tapping the “Menu” option in the top left corner of your screen. The menu icon looks like 3 parallel strips.

Step 3:

Scroll down until you find the “All Mail” tab and then click on it.

Step 4:

Choose the email you want to unarchive and open it.

Step 5:

Click on the “three dots” located in the top right corner of your screen and choose the “Move to Inbox” option. Congratulations, your email was successfully unarchived!

How to unarchive Gmail emails on Android

In this third tutorial, we are going to show you how to unarchive Gmail emails on Android devices. The process is somewhat similar to the one on the iOS devices.

Step 1:

Open the Gmail application on your Android device and make sure that you are signed in to your Gmail account.

Step 2:

Clicking to the “Menu” option which is located in the upper left corner of your screen. The menu icon looks like 3 parallel strips.

Step 3:

Scroll down until you find the “All Mail” menu and tap on it.

Step 4:

Choose the email you want to unarchive and open it.

Step 5:

Tap on the “three dots” that can be found in the top right corner of your screen and choose the “Move to Inbox” option. Your email is now unarchived!

Bonus tips

Unfortunately, there is not an archived label in Gmail by which you can find all archived emails, but there is a neat trick you can use to find all of your archived emails at once. Simply type the following in the Gmail search bar “-in:Sent -in:Draft -in:Inbox”. In most cases, this should list your archived emails, and if you also want to remove emails that already have a category label add “has:nouserlabels” at the end of your query. Ultimately your search query should look like this: “-in:Sent -in:Draft -in:Inbox has:nouserlabels”.

Another good thing to know is that archived emails will appear in your inbox again if you happen to get a reply to them so don’t worry about them getting lost.

That’s it! These are the easiest steps you can follow in order to unarchive Gmail emails on your desktop, iOS, or Android device.
