Here are a couple of advanced tips if you are already a Thunderbird user and want to delve deeper into its features.

Use templates

If you often have to send emails on a similar topic and with similar phrasing, you can create a template and save it for later. Instead of typing each email out every time, you can pull out a matching template from your archive and significantly reduce the time spent emailing. Just type out the first version and click on File – Save  As – Template. You can create templates for each of the email accounts you use in Thunderbird.

 Change themes

Thunderbird makes it possible to install themes and completely change the look of the client. If you want to freshen up its look, you can do it very easily by going to Tools – Add-ons – Install Themes. You can even make your Thunderbird look like an Outlook email client if you are partial to that look.

Schedule emails to be sent at a later time

One of the most popular Thunderbird add-ons is Send Later 3. It allows you to set up your Thunderbird client to schedule emails to be sent at a specific time in the future. This allows you to send emails even if you are not at your computer at the time you want the emails to be sent.

Organize yourself better

With the Lighting add-on you can integrate your calendar into the email client and have a schedule of important events with you at all time, which can drastically reduce your workload.

 Keep an archive of your emails

Unlike some other online email clients, Thunderbird has a built-in email archiving feature. What makes this feature even more convenient is the ability archive each email individually by clicking on the Archive button. There is also an add-on which makes it possible to export whole email folders if you want to save and archive them offline as well.

But  here are some new tricks we have found for you:

1. Opening the same document in two windows

If you are working on a research paper or  writing a proposal and you need the same document opened in two windows because you need to consult data from different sections of the document at the same time, Adobe has a good solution. Just go to the Window tab and click on New Window. You can also open a couple of views of the same document and rearrange them around the screen for easier use.

2. Change the color of highlighted text

If you want to highlight important parts of e-books or some interesting quotes, you can do it very easily by selecting the text or word you want to highlight. If you want to change the color of the selection, just right click on it, and then choose Properties. This is useful if you want to highlight quotes in one color, but other important details that are not related to quotes in another.

3. Adding pop-up notes

I you are working on a thesis or you are studying and want to add some of your own remarks or comments and notes to the material, you can use pop-up tools.  Just click on the Sticky Note button, and then click on the part of the text you want to add a note on.

Now double-click on the sticky note icon and you’ll be able to enter in your notes.

Removing these notes is just as easy – just right-click on them and choose Delete.

4. Signing documents

Signing documents can be done either via manually adding text or by uploading a scanned signature into the text. As more and more of businesses go online today, electronic signatures are becoming more and more important.

5. Taking a Snapshot

If you want to copy  a quote from the PDF file or send a references to a friend you are working on something with,  you can create a snapshot of your document. Go to Edit – Take a Snapshot  and then select the area of which you want to take a screenshot. Now go to your Image Editor and paste the photo in from your clipboard.

Compared to other web PDF printers, the Chrome printer produces very high quality PDF files. The printer does a good job of recreating the web page almost perfectly, with all text and pictures included. You can also selected and copy the text from the PDF, unlike with some other PDF printers, which just take a screenshot, creating PDFs which would have to go through OCR process in order to be converted to text.

The whole conversion process is pretty straightforward. Just right click anywhere on the page and choose the Print option.

Now in the list of printers, choose the option Print to PDF. As you can see on the right side there is a Print Preview as well, so you can see how will your PDF file look like.

After that, determine where you want the document to be saved, which completes this fast process.

However, the one problem that many complain about when printing web images is that there is too much clutter involved, meaning that the ads and other extraneous pictures are transferred to PDF as well.

One way to deal with this is to install a Chrome extension called Readability, which effectively removes this clutter from your PDF.

So if you want to print the web page to PDF, first you need to convert it to the Readability reading view like you see on the picture, and then repeat the process from above.

The service’s name is Google TakeOut, and with it you can download data from one or all of Google’s services that you may use, including Google +, Buzz, Circles, Contacts, Documents, Knol, Picasa Web Albums, Profile, Stream and Google Voice.

Just head over to Google Takeout and you’ll see a list of all the services that can be linked to it.

You can immediately click on “Create Archive” in order to create an archive from any or all of these services.

To choose particular services, click on “Choose Service” and decide which ones you want to use. Then click on “Create Archive.” If you have a lot of data, it will take several minutes for all of the data to be exported.

Once the process is complete, a link will appear in the Download section, with which you will be able to export your data.

This service is very useful, especially if you want to export a large collection of documents while and data at once. It is also a great way to back up all of your data in the case that you might experience any problems with your Google account, making this a great way to avoid losing anything that may be important to you.

Great software for students, professionals and teachers which can be used to create, edit and view all types of DWG files, which is the most common format for most CAD-related applications.

6. BRL-CAD

A cross-platform and open source solid modeling system that has a bunch of different features to offer, including interactive geometry editing, image and signal-processing tools and large libraries for making tons of different types of geometric representations.

7. gCAD3D

This free software offers many features, including an integrated 3D-OpenGL viewer, a program interpreter for geometry and NC commands in 3D, an integrated NC processor and can be used with Windows and Linux. The website is a little sparse and confusing, but the freeware is not.

8. Archimedes

A 3D modeling application that allows you to create complex compound 3D shapes. It is touted for being one of the most functional free AutoCAD alternatives out there.

9. PythonCAD

One for the Linux users, this is a CAD package that was written in the Python programming language, hence the name. One of the best open-source CAD packages for Linux, and it’s also quite simple to use if you have any kind of prior experience with two and three dimensional modeling.

10. progeCAD

This one is free for private use but cannot be used commercially. It reads and writes pretty much all AutoCAD files and has an interface that is very similar to AutoCAD’s, which makes it highly recommended among people who have experience with AutoCAD beforehand.

Thankfully there is a way to get around that.

You will have to turn your mp3 of music into a video or simply create a video for your song.

There are online services out there that can convert your mp3s into a video file, but a lot of them limit you as far as the size of the file that you can upload and how creative you can get with the visual aspects of your video.

The easiest way to get your mp3s onto Youtube is to make a simple video in the Windows Live Movie Maker, which is a free software that you can download from Microsoft website.

First you need to add your music and accompanying pictures in the video. Be careful with the images you choose to display, because you don’t want to infringe on any copyrights, but still, try to use images that are relevant to the music. For example, if it is a song your grandmother used to sing to you, you can put a picture of her, or maybe pictures from your childhood.

First click on Add music or music to add the song of your choice to the project, and then just take the file and drag it down to the reel.

To import the images, just click on Import photos and select pictures from your computer that you want to use.

You will notice that once you drag the images down onto the reel, you will have to adjust the amount of time each image appears in the video by simply clicking it and stretching it.  If you do not want to do this manually, just go to Project and then to Fit to music, which gives all of your images an equal amount of time over the music.

You can also include some animations to spice up the video a bit. Click on Animate and choose your desired animation. Experiment a bit, because there are a lot of interesting effects to choose from when transitioning between images in your video.

After everything is finished you can save the video on your computer by clicking on Save Movie File in the File menu. Once you have the video file on your computer, you can then upload it to your Youtube account and share it with others.

But there are many more creative and interesting fonts out there that do not come with Windows. You can use these fonts to make your writing and presentation stick out and look unique in a crowd. Since Fonts can come in multiple formats and some of the formats are specific for a certain Operating System, you can convert them into the matching format.
