The Story: Ben is back with a new look, a new Omnitrix, and a brand-new show! Get ready for Ben 10: Omniverse! Ben is all set to be a solo hero after Gwen and Kevin left, but Grandpa Max teams him up with a rookie, by-the-book partner. Together they explore a secret alien city. Meanwhile, a mysterious hunter sets his sights on Ben! With ten new alien heroes to choose from, the fun is just getting started. It’s a whole new Omniverse! –Ben 10 Wikia

The Review: I have to start this off by saying this is not my favorite series in the Ben 10 Universe (Alien Force is), and it took me a while to get into, but in the end I enjoyed it.

The DVD begins with Gwen leaving for college and Kevin following her, leaving Ben to work alone…until Grandpa Max (who I love because I had a Grandpa Max) teams Ben up with a new partner, a by the book alien, Rook. Throughout the DVD Ben has to deal with his new Omnitrix which seems to malfunction…all the time, new aliens, and a mysterious hunter who has it out for him.

Have I Got A Deal For You is my favorite episode on Disc one. In it Ben encounters Prof. Blarney T. Hokestar a carnie who wants Ben to be the spokesperson for Prof. Blarney T. Hokestar’s Miracle Elixir. Ben ends up getting caught up in a debate on alien/animal rights & of course has to save the earth from a giant monster.

It is harder for me to pick a favorite from disc two. I really enjoyed Hot Stretch, where Ben ends up falling for the bad guy, and Rook can’t stand it. I loved the character Ester (the fore mentioned bad guy) it was enjoyable seeing the effect she had on Ben, I love her design/look and the lightheartedness she brought to the episode.

My other favorite episode from Disc two is So Long, And Thanks For All The Smoothies… I have to admit this was my favorite episode before I even watched it, anything that references Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy makes me happy. While the episode took a minute to get good, when it finally got there it was great. Ben cannot stop the universe from ending so instead he has to use the infamous Alien X to recreate an exact copy…only not everything is exactly how it was & no one believes Ben when he tells the story.

While not complete (who is the mysterious hunter and when will Ben get the hang of his new Omitrix) overall this is a good collection for any Ben 10 fan, and I am looking forward to the next collection, so I can get the answers to my lingering questions.

Below is the press release and information for Ben 10 Omniverse: A New Beginning, which is in stores today.

Ben 10 Omniverse: A New Beginning

Racism always makes me sad and upset, but racism within the geek community takes it to a whole another level. Geeks (while more main stream now then before) are often times looked upon as weird by those outside the geek community, for geeks to show racism towards their own?! It just blows my mind. I applaud Chaka Cumberbatch for writing a great article, sharing her experiences, and most of all not letting the ignorance of other people stop her from being herself & doing what she love.
