Hello. Thanks for the article. However I'm having the same issue that a couple of others have reported in previous comments. I hope I've not just misunderstood something. I followed your instructions using my PHP to edit my user nice name. This worked a treat, when I hovered over my author text link it no longer showed my login name but showed the new name I had just added.

However, this now just breaks the author text links. If I click on the text link it brings up a 404 page not found. It seems that WordPress is making that text link point to an now non-existent place.

So for example if my previous name was Andy, and my admin login name was Admin then hovering the mouse over "Andy" revealed the url to all my articles which is inside a folder called "admin"

www.MyWordpressSite.co.uk/author/Admin/

So when I changed the nice_name from Admin to Andy howvering over the "Andy" text link now shows

www.MyWordpressSite.co.uk/author/Andy/

So it no longer reveals my login name but the text link now points to a non existent place.
Am I doing something wrong?

To make the avatar photo available to WordPress you must load it in advance at gravatar.com.
