I graduated from college in 1977. I have never worked into communications except for a second job at a radio station for a few months. When I graduated from college I went looking for work and found I had very few skills to get a job. I got a job as a clerk and continued working as a clerk. In time I went back to school and studied office computers but now people do their own work and don't need support people to help them. My degree in communications was totally useless.

Career assessment tests are helpful in choosing the right path to follow. As a recent college graduate, I had taken an assessment test to find out what path I wanted to follow, and it helped me to choose the right one. Now on the job hunt, you'll still find that you need to take assessment tests like this PEO . The assessment tests aren't necessarily for you to choose the right company, but for the company to choose the right person. It benefits both however, because if a company is happy with your assessment most likely you will be happy with them.

Yeah, the cover letters have to be specific to the job position. Making it generic would make you stand out less and make it less appealing for prospective employers.
