Robert, thanks for your feedback. I agree with your assessment - otherwise, I would not have included "honesty" and "mindfulness of others". Far too many people assume that financial gain equals success - that's just not the case.

Chris, I'm sure the executives of the Wall Street banks, as well as those of some other corporations in America and George W. Bush, also had some, if not most, of the traits of success you listed and described above. However, it's also very apparent that they lacked or neglected few critical traits which led to the current economic hardship in America - not the least of which are #19 and #20. A success without ethics or morality is a failure!

Chris,

I'm sorry for the delay in responding to your question - please forgive me.

I guess it's a matter of perspective. A negative person will never see any opportunity within a problem because his closed mind refuses to see. As the old saying goes, "there is none so blind as he who refuses to see". However, if a person sees an opportunity, he must also recognize it as a problem as well.

For example suppose you see a need for a simple device to solve a problem. This opportunity is filled with problems - what will it cost to develop your idea? How will you finance it? Can you bring it to market? Will people buy it? At a price that will provide you with a profit? So you can see that an opportunity can be a problem and a problem can be an opportunity. Whatever YOU choose is right for you.

Agreed, but can one view opportunities as problems? I've had this on going debate with a friend of mine the the two are not the same thing. You can see an opportunity in a problem, but you don't seek out problems within opportunities? In order for me to view things as one in the same, it has to be equal both ways. Do you agree?

Kai, I couldn't agree more. Sometimes you have to "shut up" and "get up" and do something to make the situation better.

I seriously hate whiners, complainers, etc. There are too many of those people especially because of the recession. So many people use recession as an excuse of their failure. Add up all the time that these people are complaining, they could have accomplished something meaningful.

Leila,

Thanks for your support - it means the world to me. As I said in our last email conversation, <a href="http://therotater.com">the Rotater</a> is keeping me so busy that I can't devote the time that I'd like to soupornuts.com. I stumbled across this video and new it was perfect.

I'm glad to hear that you're "creating" the life you want - I wish more people could understand they are in control of their lives and can do the same thing. On a side note, I just started reading a book that really addresses this concept - funny how that happens. The book is titled "<a href="http://www.rulesforrenegades.com/">Rules for Renegades</a>" and is written by Christine Comstock. I didn't know about her offer when I installed this link - I picked up the book at a book sale. You'll know what I'm talking about when you visit the book link.

Anyway, I'd be honored if you'd consider following me on <a href="http://www.twitter.com/chrismelton">Twitter</a>. If you haven't set up a twitter account yet, go ahead and do it. It's hard to explain, and it takes a little while to get into it, but its well worth the time.

Please let me know if there is anything that I can help you with - I'll do my best - and it's great to hear from you again.

Your friend,

Chris Melton
