Bobbi,
I had the acrylic nails for only six weeks and now have fungus in five nails. Mine also started with the lifting of the nail as you mentioned. I bartend and the doctors have told me that the moisture involved with my job (although I use a dishwasher) has made the problem worse. I have tried the bleach as the dr. recommended, vicks, peroxide, and much more to no avail. I am anxious to try the nonyx as nothing else has even remotely helped and my nails are hideos still, after a year and a half!

There was quite a bit of bashing of the other's credentials during the debate, but I think that there was some substance that was useful. They were able to articulate their differences on policy in Iran, Iraq and their general philosophies about how to grow the economy. Obama tried to tie McCain to Bush and McCain tried to make Obama look naive in his view of how the world works, but that's to be expected. The whole "change vs. experience" debate has shifted. Now, it's "change vs. reform" according to the candidates. McCain had to switch strategies.

They seemed to get stuck when it came to Iraq, though. Obama wanted to make McCain look bad for wanting to get into a stupid war that we had no business entering in the first place and McCain wanted to make Obama's judgement look bad because he wasn't in favor of the surge. I personally think that there's no way to tell if the surge is what caused the ebb of violence in Iraq, or if it happened because of things that were happening before the surge even began. There are also a lot of people who would not say that we are much closer to being "victorious" in Iraq. I also think it's stupid to say that it's dishonoring the soldiers to say that if we get out of Iraq they will come home in disgrace and dishonor. Did you catch any of the debate? What are your thoughts?

hey,
I was just wondering if you ever tried 'Loceryl nail lacquer'? I first noticed my thumb nail was changing and it ended up breaking off at the nail bed and was extremely painful especially in hot water! After covering it up with a band aid after putting some cream on it morning and night it did get better and is finally a normal looking nail; no longer having to hide it!!! Buuut...to much dissapointment i noticed both my pinky finger nails were looking the same as my thumb nail first did, AND on my left hand the fingernail next to my pinky nail also started doing it! Argh soo annoying and its quite embarrasing...i also got the 'ew whats wrong with you nail', but luckily they only saw one screwed nail so i told them i jammed it..ha..anyways..ive just been prescribed with Loceryl nail lacquer and was wondering if it worked for you or anyone you know coz i cannot leave this problem any longer or continue using some stupid thing my doctor has prescribed.
Mind you, every chemist i went to before i brought loceryl told me i should take lamasil! I hope this stuff works considering it cost me $80!!

Hey Brian. Sorry to hear that you're dealing with some relationship issues. Obviously, all relationships can differ and a lot of making it work through law school has to do with the amount of tolerance you both as a couple can handle. The first year, especially the first semester, is stressful, and your girlfriend is probably having a tough time right now hanging in there. I'm sure my girlfriend got annoyed with me when I needed my space to study, but in the end, she understood that I really wanted to get a JD and she stayed very busy herself, which helped.

I doubt your girlfriend wants to break up... she's just got a lot on your plate. I think the best cure for dating someone in law school is really just to stay busy yourself. There are lots of things you can take care of over this first year while she gets her feet wet [and second year, when she's interviewing for jobs]. But, if you guys can handle this bumpy road, you're going to be more sure that you've found the right person when it's all said and done.

That said, I'm no relationship expert. I've just been lucky to date someone who is really tolerant.

As to when it gets easier... well, it depends. There are lulls where the workload is pretty light, and there are also times where exams are rolling around or there is a big legal writing paper due. She might need her space right now because one of those times is coming up...

Good luck, I really hope everything works out.

thank you!

it is amazingly useful to see your complete torts outline. prof Krauss is just finishing up intentional torts and i was feeling a bit lost as to what this outline thing is supposed to look like.

i first saw your piece after deciding to attend gmu but before the start of classes. thank you for putting something positive about being a 1l out there in the blogosphere.

Corn was just the start. I agree that corn isn't the long term answer, but sometimes you have to start the easy way, and subsidize it in order to get the ultimate solution.

The next step is using our landfills of trash (at $1.00 per gallon).
http://www.technologyreview.com/read_article.aspx?ch=specialsections&sc=biofuels&id=18084&a=

I run my vehicle on E85 for this reason. The more I encourage the government and business that this is a good alternative, the more they work with it.

For the record, current conversion including farming time, etc., create a 3 to 1 BTU ratio. The new plants going online will create a 9 to 1 BTU ratio.

Something else to keep in mind: If the oil companies had to compete with E85 then prices would come down.

Hey Brian,

Glad to know you appreciated the suggestions on this page. My girlfriend and I saw each other every three or four weeks. She did most of the driving (4 hours away), and I'm really appreciative of that.

I really found some valuable suggestion within your page. I also read Law School Confidential. I currently do both book and note brief, which is time consuming. My biggest fear right now is how to prepare/do well on exams and get through this first semester.

I did have a question about your relationship...How often did you see each other during the semester?

Glad to hear it, Peter. Keep it up - don't stop too early or the fungus will grow back. I'd say keep going until it's all gone, and then for a week or so, just to be safe. Congrats so far!
