Along with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), American Water Charitable Foundation (AWCF) has gone ahead with the Building Better Communities project that fosters the creation and maintenance of natural play spaces and grounds with natural surroundings for the children. In the process, they also spread the message of water conservation, preservation and management by educational preaching and demonstrations. It is a conjoined effort of NRPA and AWCF receiving funds and annual grants, Building better communities has been able to successfully create a playful environment among verdure nature where children bloom and blossom well.

The project focuses on bringing back children closer to nature. When they interact in a natural set up like boulder runs, embedded hill slides, natural climbing walls, sensory gardens, their developments are deep-seated and intense. Added to this the hydrologic presentations work miracles juxtaposing fun and knowledge.

Nature plays uniquely in the minds of these children, soothing them and grooming them, and this is the reason when it comes to conservation, these children take up the ideas pertaining to conservation with equal weight as their peers. Building Better Communities have been able to touch the lives of people in the society and the employees with Child welfare and education as well.
If you want to take up a similar initiative, your Agency is eligible for a grant to foster such a concept of conservation of nature. The latest agenda of the Building Better Communities program is to support agencies and communities who want playground grants. A number of organizations and communities are already on the list of grant application.

You might well gauge that it is a local community that the nature based play grants want to affect. Every community has its own water management system, and along with the partnership of these communities the play areas will be created with the annual grants. For the time being such communities, have to file the competitive RFP or the Request for Proposal to do playground fundraising.

Till date AWCF has granted NRPA over $2.5 Million so that they may work in unison with these communities. Within the time span of the next five years, the changes in the society will be brought about for which grants ranging from $50,000 to $150,000 will be awarded. The projects will span from three to five years, and it is high time for you to fill in the application. The last date for submission of application is May 30, 2014 and it may be the best chance of spreading the message of conservation of nature in your community.

Can a park really save a child from being attacked by a sexual predator?

Can a park really save a child from being attacked by a sexual predator? That does seem like a pretty far fetched, even ridiculous idea, doesn&#8217;t it? Yet across the country parks with commercial playground equipment are being built to protect children from sexual predators. The communities in which these parks are being built demanded action against these sexual predators, and with these parks the community leaders listened to the needs of the citizens. The parks though, are not without controversy.

In California, if you are a registered sex offender you cannot live within 2,000ft of a school or a public park. In the Los Angeles neighborhood of Harbor Gateway, there were over a 100 registered sex offenders living within a few miles of a school. When parents came to pick up their children from school, and the children were waiting for them at the bus stop, they found numerous sex offenders dangerously close to the children. Frustrated and scared, the parents and local citizens turned to local politicians for a solution. What the politicians came up with would spread like wildfire.

Pocket parks, tiny parks or a park in miniature whatever you might want to call it is what the citizens of Harbor Gateway and thousands of others across the country have had built to keep sexual predators from harming children. Since in California and in many other states sexual offenders cannot live with within 2,000ft of a school or a public park, no matter what the size is built then a sexual offender cannot live there and must move. Many of these parks are so tiny that they just consist of one swing on a strip of grass. It doesn&#8217;t matter if a child even enters one of these parks. As long as they are there.

Many activists say that in building these parks with commercial playground equipment that it is forcing out sexual predators and giving them no options regarding places to live. They go on to say that by forcing the sexual predators to find someplace else to live adds incredible stress to their lives. In many instances they have an almost impossible time finding a place to live and end up homeless. The parole boards in numerous states warn that homeless sexual predators are much more difficult to track than ones who have homes. Although this might be an issue, it is one that parole boards and local police can overcome. In Concord, New Hampshire there is a local police detective assigned full time to homeless sexual predators. He generates a random list each week of where they live, such as &#8220;green and white tent, south edge of the river&#8221; and a full physical description of the person and then officers go out to find the man. If the person is not found, a warrant is not listed for the person.

Pocket parks are an innovative idea that can and are working to keep children safe from sexual predators. We have to put our children first. Our very future depends upon it.

The Health Benefits of <a href="http://www.creativesystems.com">Commercial Playground Equipment</a>

We all want our kids to be happier and healthier, and one of the best ways for them to stay healthy is to get out and play. But, how can they without somewhere to play at? Commercial playgrounds are the answer. <a href="http://www.playgrounddepot.com/">Commercial playgrounds</a> give kids the opportunity to get out, burn energy and simply enjoy themselves in a safe, fun environment.

The greatest benefit of playgrounds is the health benefits they present, not only physically, but mentally. Shasta (California) Children and Families First Commission reported that playgrounds are a vital part of children&#8217;s physical, social and even cognitive development. Playgrounds offer children not only a place to play, but a place to interact, experience new things and use their imaginations.

Playgrounds provide numerous ways for children to stay active and fit. Bars in a playground help to build body strength, while climbing equipment exercises nearly every muscle in the body. Also, when children are on a playground they will, run jump and become excited, all elements of cardiovascular exercise. They are sure to be getting a healthy dose of physical activity, and they usually do not even realize it, because they are having so much fun.

Today&#8217;s playgrounds offer so much more than ever before. Equipment engages children for hours of fun play, and when children stay active, they will be healthy. New equipment such as hand cranked gears, ticktacktoe boards and even musical panels encourage children to think and learn, all while having fun. Commercial playgrounds also bring children together. Studies show that when kids learn how to play and interact with others at an earlier age, they will have healthier, more productive relationships as adults.

Building a <a href="http://www.creativesystems.com/commercial_playground_equipment.htm">commercial playground</a> is a true benefit to any community. Recent studies by the Health Care Service Corporation, Northwestern University and Deborah Putteney Ph.D have shown that putting in a commercial playground produces happier, healthier kids. Ninety percent of adults said that children had much stronger desire to play and were getting significantly more exercise once a playground was installed in their area. Over 50% of parents also said that their children were no longer complaining that they were bored.

Studies show that being healthy now will lead to a healthy life as adults. Playgrounds are one of the best ways to keep kids staying active and engaged in activities. Whether it is social skills, physical activity or educational games, playgrounds are one of the best way for kids to stay happy and healthy.
