It was early Friday morning and the sun had just begun its rise to power over the lush green Kootenay valley. In recovery mode from a night of serious debauchery involving two Nuns, a chainsaw, three microwaveable burritos, an arm wrestling competition between a bear and a kitten, paul schultz, a butcher, a herd of goats, garlic salt, and an italian muslim albino jew, I rose from my sleeping quarters.

After unsuccessfully completing the morning “triple S” i made my way outside my house to find a leopard eating my garbage. Knowing how Leopards think i quickly asked his opinion on the BP oil spill. An inquisition which resulted in the Leopard removing his attention from the waste bin and joining me on my deck while i ate breakfast.

My breakfast consisted of raw panda covered in sea salt and malt vinegar provided to me by my friend Shintzao Usukaro Taonukarota, and of course the staple side dish… pickled puppies in a jar, courtesy of my mortal enemy Reid Tannahill. As my gullet tank began to reach full i realized that my Leopard friend who went by the name Zebrotomos was still rambling on about BP’s incompetence in handling this global catastrophe. I tuned in for a couple of minutes absorbing the words that passionately exuded from Zebrotomos’s mouth, and then it came to my attention that he clearly had no idea what he was talking about. Before i was able to reach over the table and Neck punch him unconscious we were both blown sideways by Andrew Arthurs Van which had been parked temporarily in my driveway as a result of him purchasing a new reliable black Toyota Tacoma.

The Van a 1990 Safari with a custom rust job had some how exploded sending a fireball hundreds of feet in the air, and producing a shock wave that sent Zebrotomos and I flying through the sky. As we flew through the air headed east Zebrotomos asked me if he could sleep on the couch as he had recently been layed off, and was having a hard time getting back on his feet. I took a second to think about it, then punched him right square in the LIPS using a technique known as lip punching. As my fist made contact with his slightly wrinkled moist black lip skin so did our body’s with the ground. Jolted by the impact I took a second to re-gather my thoughts only to realize that we had landed directly on the twelfth green of the Fernie golf and country club.

As we repaired our divots I begun pondering an explanation as to why Andrew’s suped up Safari had exploded, and then like snorting a line of Kool-aid powder it hit me! The sour taste of foul play began dripping into my throat as i became aware that Mr Arthur was clearly trying to kill me. I came to this conclusion because the day previous to this I had been called up to play as a ringer in the big softball match between the Cheeseburgers and the Misfits. This game was the biggest mostest importantest of the year and both teams were hungry as hippos. All game I was slamming home runs over the mountains and both teams were getting upset at me for loosing softballs so i took a backseat to Batting and headed out to the outfield. The first three balls hit to me i dropped on purpose as i had been payed off by Barrack Obama to throw the game, but then my conscience got to me and I realized that win or loose I would always carry the guilt of being a cheat, and we all know that there is no shower head in the universe that has been designed to wash away guilt(except Tiger Woods shower head but that has nothing to do with this story. And he paid like at least a couple trillion dollars for it).

The next up to bat was Mr. Andrew Arthur the third, and sure enough he popped one way up into the atmosphere headed straight for me. Without moving i raised my cold pure filtered sweet tasting Pilsner to my mouth and chugged what remained in the can. As the last drop touched my tongue I did a backflip and caught the ball square in my back muscles. You could see the excitement on the faces of the cheeseburgers as we headed back to the dugout, but out of the corner of my eye i saw Andrew standing at the Fence like a kettle that’s been left on the element until all the water has evaporated. This rage continued to build throughout the night and in the morning must have driven him to COMMIT a car bombing in hopes of permanently destroying me. Luckily he was unsuccessful allowing me to provide everyone with this lovely story…have a great weekend!!!
I am headed lake side!!!!

Here is a peek into the skills and style possessed by one Chris Bradley. Finally getting some payback for his hard work and dedication he is now riding for some of Commits great brands such as Endeavor, Airhole, Flux, Vivo, and also getting flow from the great Canadian made RBA. Make sure you check him out in the upcoming film from Jah Raven Creation “Whats in the Fridge” dropping Fall 2010. Until then enjoy some B-roll that was filmed through out the year on and off the mountain. Enjoy!!!

Check out this one time selector brot to you leyeve from right ner da beach’s of whistler megasa lakeasa. Batter up bouy. Alright…alright nuff nonsense. Here are a couple of videos from shred head Ben Ogilvie. If you are headed out to the great glacier this year then good on yah. If not we included a video of what it’s like out there. Benny is on the bench with a serious ankle injury at the moment, and will be unable to bless COC (camp of champions) with his presence. So we are sorry to disappoint everyone and hope that it doesn’t drive the company into bankruptcy. I think they will be Ogay, but Ben is definitely a legend that makes it safer in the sky. Ok…ocay…does anybody ever read this nonsense anyway? I have always wondered? Had some good ones in the past but this one is pretty lame. I mean Jamaica has some pretty serious disrest at the moment, so maybe we shoudn’t poke fun at their speech?
Crows wing will always heal stronger, and soar higher when healed. So get better and stuff Beano OKAY!!!
Enjoy the video(s)?

As we sit and wait for lakes and rivers to increase in temperature and water level, we reflect upon the winter past. This time is a tough one, much like waiting for snow in Fall, but it is also a great time to look at the life we live and the places that allow us to do it. These places we call home have everything we need, and offer the best of both summer and winter. The hard part is waiting for each season to finish bleeding its colors before we can fully enjoy the next. Time passes by sluggishly, cash is scarce, weather is as temperamental as Mike Tyson, and jobs are slow in getting underway. What can you do? Best bet is to get on top of everything that you have been putting off over the last six months and get caught up on your life. That or watch videos of all the fun things that you will be able to do in short time. So while we wait for better weather and the Lakes to reach their full potential, I am going to continue posting fun videos that encompass all that we are. Have a great long weekend…drive safe, consume lots of food and beverage, and enjoy the company of friends!!! Cheers!!!

Here is a edit form the boys of Sunshine Villiage. It is closing weekend out there if you are still feeling the itch.

Now that is a question for the ages? I mean there are so many contributing factors to this? What kind of diet are you on? Are you able to cook at all? Do you have kids? Do you work full time or part time? Do you like it saucy or dry? Are you a vegan, vegetarian, carnivore, omnivore, herbivore? Do you eat bugs? Do you have hands with all fingers? Have you ever driven a 1990 red Honda civic? I mean the list goes on and on. It is seemingly endless! But our good friend Bigfish has been working hard towards a simple solution that will allow us to know what individuals are keeping in the icebox without even having to look in it. Check it out…It is good to be back home and i will keep the updates coming now that i am not in a foreign country. Allllllllrrrriiiiggggggghhhhhhtttttttttyyy then! Enjoy…

Summer weather is floating around the Ferngully these days getting everyone in the mood for Boating, Bathing, and everything summer. This weekend marks the end of Fernie’s winter season, and with that begins the wait for warm water temperatures. What does this mean? Lots of things really…time to start checking out the closet for shorts and swimsuits, the search for outdoor employment, summer boat maintenance, driving range/putting practice, yard work, skateboarding/longboarding, beers, Bar-B-Q action, camping, softball, louisville chugger, and much more. I found this video on youtube of our greasy friend Adam Trotman tearing it up at his wakeboard school Cabwake, and thought that it would be good to send it out to help boost summer spirits. Popwake returns this year at lake Koocanusa where Adam will be coaching along with Amber Wing. Make sure to check them out if interested in Camps, or just honing your skills @ www.popwake.com One more weekend of slushy turns and the wait begins…Enjoy

Year of the fallen soldier? With not very much of the white stuff helping to provide a cushion beneath us on our boards, I have witnessed some of the most brutal stacks, and crashes ever. Having no powder to keep the fire stoked, our minds begin wandering the path of park and freestyle progression (I mean what else can you do with Huck-ruts and corduroy). The end result becomes combing the mountain for big high speed gaps, and secret senders to experiment off of, and although this is exactly what we should be doing…we sometimes end up on the short (or long) end of a grip. Between Stu’s broken back, Bradley’s shoulder, Louif’s knees, Jimmy’s clavicle, Dougy’s Fibea, Todd’s mangled toenail experience, and the many others who spent time on the bench this year, it has definitely a season to reflect on the sport we love. Here is a video for all those who have been forced on to couches playing video games, and eating food excessively waiting for their body’s to recover…(least that’s what i did during my many recovery months)

Enjoy…and get well!!!

CANADA WINS THE GOLD!!!! I know what your thinking? That happened weeks, and weeks ago, but let us reflect on what we were all doing when the breakout team of Iginla and Crosby made there way towards the USA net in overtime to reclaim what was already ours. G-O-L-D!! I myself was cat skiing at the fantastic resort that is K3. A team of the greasiest bucklers were assembled, and made their way through the Canadian Rockies in an exploration for epic snow and good times. Both came easy but mother nature had plans of her own, plans which included class four avalanche danger and weather in the form of rain and cloud. Not the most ideal conditions when trying to film for the upcoming shred flick, but all things aside…K3 offers over 33,000 ski able acres of terrain located deep in the mountains between Revelstoke and Sicamouse. What does this mean? Lots of Grease!!! If you have been searching for unlimited access to terrain that ranges from AK Lines to Rockies head wall then search no further. Just remember to make sure you book for peak season to ensure good controlled conditions because stability is key. Enjoy this short B-Roll video from our adventures, and check out K3catski.com for more details.

Right On!!!!!

Holy testeroni and cheese!!! Big fish has been at work in the lab and on the mountain working towards next years blockbuster spectacular. The name you ask? Good question? but whats in the fridge? no but seriously thats the name. Whats the name? “Whats in the fridge…” Ohh I get it!!! Very clever! But enough nonsense. Joel Whalen and crew have been getting er done on the daily, and the result has been most greasy. Lots of Buckles, senders, tweaks, twizzlers, baconators, poptarts, big macs, twisters, moustachios, eggrolls, shabu shabu etc. and it is eventually going to come to life on the big screen thanks to the brain work of sir Raven face the third. The following is a teaser to the teaser. Something to get your mouth watering right before all the snow melts and you realize that your EI is running out, and you will soon again have to face the reality of returning to work to make enough cash to support another winter (Not to mention the never ending converasation with your caring parents regarding going back to school and making something of yourself). Okey Dowkey then enjoy the sick bail section…

What more can you say…Commit greased the hell out of this competition. These three boys come from all different areas of this fine country, and are hands down a proud representation of what it is to be Canadian. Whether your from the Prairie fields, born in the Rockies, or a Franco-phone, we all represent the same idea of life. Gettin down with the get down, and as a great man once told me ” he who sends it…gets it delivered”-scott martin. (Too bad the prizes delivered were less than adequate of what these boys brought to the table…?) All things aside it looks like it was a great day in the sun getting greasy in Kimbo, and it is also a pleasure to see the handy work of Todd Gamey back behind the lense making edits for the site.

Remember…”crow is only as strong as its weakest feather”-The Chief

This is a greased up sender of a video that we produced from our day at Fernie Wilderness Adventures Cat skiing operation. We have decided that it will forever now have the nickname FWAhhhhhhh!!! because their terrain is like a ninja that sneaks up on you, and then socks you in the face with intense powder, and accessible area. Big thanks to all the crew from FWA, as well as Scott Martin for organizing the whole thing. Their guides are awesome, their photographers have serious talent, and so does the territory that they control. Not to mention the fact that the owner Kim is a legend!! If you haven’t been, or are sick of riding hard pack it is well worth the investment, and if you don’t know…now ya now.

Enjoy…

It shows the unique ability of a group of slippery twisters, who have the unnatural athleticism to buckle it up all day every day, without any signs of fatigue, or concern for their body’s physical condition. The following was documented over three days in Whitefish Mongrease-u-later, and is only a small depiction of the serious events that occurred. For your safety and the safety of those around you, you might want to consider putting on a helmet before watching…

Thanks to the great folks at Island lake Lodge, George (from Ski Base) and I got the opportunity at the beginning of the year to have a preseason day of Catskiing. For early December it was amazing how much coverage they had, and also the amount of untouched snow. The day was spent tearing up terrain that was untracked, and enjoying just a tiny sliver of the vast terrain that they control, and offer. If you ever get the chance, or need a day of pure untouched pow chow, and have some spare cash. I would highly recommend spending it Catskiing at one of the fine local facilities that Fernie has to Offer. I mean for the cost of a lift ticket and lunch at the ski hill you are already half way there, but with the little extra money spent you get to enjoy the luxury of a heated chairlift, a fresh healthy lunch, and of course…FRESH UNTOUCHED GREASE!!!! Well worth it for the experience…

Here are the links to the local spots…stay tuned for a Story/Video from FWA-aaaahhhhh!! as well.

Today *Commit* pays tribute to a fallen soldier, and probably one of the most naturally gifted rail shreds i have ever seen during my snowboard years. Chris Bradley has been taken out by the likes of a stubborn shoulder injury that most snowboarders can sympathize with. Back from what we thought to be destroyed, burned to cinders, and released to the ocean (aka: repaired) this evil reoccurring injury has once again reared its mangled face. Luckily however (knowing Bradley all but too well) there is nothing but reassurance in the minds of all of Commits brain children that this setback will be short lived in the career of CB, due to the incredible HULK strength, determination, and COMMITment he has shown throughout his life. Enjoy as we take you on a journey through the average $8.50 an hour work day of Chris Bradley, and friends.

May your recovery be swift…

Right Onnnnn!!!!!

Our Sale has been forced upon us by the Shops in this town that believe winter is over in February? I guess if you rely on the brands selling themselves, rather than being knowledgeable about your product this is the result? Commit however, prides itself on giving more of its shelf space to the independent brands that are not as well known, but exist as rider driven rider owned, and are equal or superior in quality and detail. That is why when it comes to customer service we are always here taking the time to help our customers figure out what will work best for them. If we do not offer the product ourselves we will happily help point you in the right direction to find what you are looking for.

With that said we offer this sale to go one further with our service, and offer some special discounts to keep us competitive in a town that is being slowly killed by the online shopper (you know who you are). What you don’t realize about your online purchase is that the local economy that is supporting you is not being stimulated, which results in fewer jobs, lower wages, less community growth, and less opportunity for local business. There is a reason that you see buy local stickers everywhere, and it is not just businesses that are promoting this idea, it is the people who have chosen to make Fernie their home (temporary or permanent). It is people who go out of their way to find products locally, and support one another to help advance the growth and expansion of our town. It is the backbone of what allows people to live in Fernie year round and support their friends and family.
Alright…back to the sale (sorry for the rant)

All Nomis, Sound, and Technine outerwear is 20% Off

All Gloves and Mittens is 20% Off

All Womens & Mens Jeans 40% Off

All Beanies/Toques 20% Off

All Bern Helmets 15% Off

All Celsius Boots 20% Off

Add Technine Bindings to any Board for $150

Buy 2 T-shirts get 1 Free

The majority of our Hardgoods however remain at Full Blow because we firmly believe that we can help you the customer find exactly what he or she needs to have an awesome time on the mountain for a very reasonable price. We do not sell or believe in selling any board that retails over $700 because the board you buy will not make you a better snowboarder, but the money you save and then put towards a trip with your friends WILL!! Think about how much less fun you will have if you are worried about chipping your precious over priced board, especially considering you should have spent that money on a good pair of Boots and Bindings.
Sorry for the Rant…Enjoy the Sale…

Here we are again bringing you delayed content, but between sledding, cat greasing, and straight up shred time we tend to fall behind. Hopefully this inconsistency means nothing because when the buckle’s are delivered they arrive like a fine leather. Here is a top dollar “Goat Skin” edit brought to you by the Boss Jah Raven and filmed by the one and only “Ben Jammin” Ogilvie. Enjoy the ride as we take you through the days action of FAR’s Kinky Rail Jam. It was a sender of a day filled with awesomenass that let to a podium finish by a bunch of homeslicers that rock the illest of today’s trickepedia. All round i think every body had a great time…the sun was shining and the snow was hard, but it prevented no lack of talent and skill brought by all competitors.

Thanks to all that participated, and enjoy the edit…RIGHT Onnnnnnnnnn!!!

Jah Raven, Big Fish, Shred Co-operator, Raven Fish, Jah Big? All names of the legendary Joel Whalen. With muscles bigger than a small child, teeth whiter than a tungsten light bulb, and a mustache that could rival Friedrich Nietzsche (Look him up…LEGIT) he was born into this world with the intention of being the best. He failed miserably however, but is still one of the most legitimate, well spoken cats I have ever met. Not to mention he can ski better than Stan Marsh did when he freed the spirits of the Wakacha Indians on the dreadful K13 (Southpark reference…if you haven’t seen the episode you are either wasting your life being too serious or just need to brush up on your Southpark). Back to Joel… Big fish in his youth grew up as part of the original Notorious B I G but after Biggie Smalls got gatt-ted Joel was asked by JZ and JT money if he would give up his famous rap career to allow them to sell more albums to raise money for Christopher George Latore Wallace’s Family (not to mention entourage of hoes) Bigfish being the noble character that he is backed out of the rap game, changed his skin color, and decided that he would take his street skillz and apply them to his new life in a small mountain town. He moved to Fernie, became a vegan, shacked up with a beautiful women named Ali Schroeder, and got about 60 dogs. Below is a video that he has filmed and edited showcasing his new life…

Thanks for always being Commited J (sorry for the verbal diarrhea).
