Port MacDonnell, Sunday June 8th 2008, read 04 07 09
Yes the sailing ships anchored one mile offshore,
the boats used in bringing the wares and goods from ship to shore
were called 'Lightships' and the Captains where paid by 'Bank Draft'

With all the rain Mt Gambier has had in the past week the 'Lady Nelson' has sprung a leak, restoration work has to be done ASAP.

I happened to love this book. Someone previously mentioned that if you had more than 10 brain cells you would hate it. I beg to differ. No I don't, I'm going to disagree anyway, as I don't need your permission. If you have enough intelligence to understand the book, you will realise just how very good it is. Plotline? You bet there's a plotline. Heaps of them in fact. Idiosyncracies? Of course there are. You could not connect with a character without them.
Anyway, I think it is a wonderful book.

Saying that being 'gay' is unnatural and therefore 'morally questionable'is merely an appeal to nature and a fallacious use of logic.

Multiple species in nature consume or have the male die after intercourse, yet I would assume that you would object to this being imposed upon yourself? Even though it's natural?

Also marriage has already lost many of the old traditions, it is no longer has the bussiness aspects and no longer does the groom have to keep his right hand free in order to defend his bride.

Dont forget some of the other noteworthy characters such as Mr O'hara (who was a bit over zealous with the strap) Miss King ( our schools first encounter with a silicon breasted women) and Mr (school pride) Hansen, those cross country runs were handy for picking up dead black snakes to put in the teachers handbags, ahhhh what memories

I just received one that claimed I had shopped from an Australian online store, and had to verify bla bla bla, same old crap.

...and I live in Norway.

That's the one!! Probably the same scam with a new accent. I wish I'd had a look at them now, just to see if they were originals and what the prices were.

Looking at my previous comment reminds me I've got to get my African scam post from draft form.

You might have read here about the Israeli art scam that struck Kalgoorlie in April last year. There are various manifestations and despite exposure it never goes away, just like spam email.

As I commented way back in a post on my own blog about the African scams, it's hard to understand why there's a person left on Earth who would have Internet access and not know these things for what they are.

I had a visit last night at my home from a fellow purporting to be a French artist offering "byoodifull oyeel paynteengs" for sale. I said, "Sorry I'm not in the market to buy anything", and sent him and his portfolio case on their way. Then I remembered reading something here about Israeli students selling paintings in a scam but I can't remember the details.

The funny thing is that the weather has been very wet in Perth the past week and he was going about at 6:00 PM on a wet, windy evening in the dark. I can imagine the wind playing havoc with the 1X1.5 metre cardboard portfolio folder he was carrying.
