CC Prayer Requests for March

• Praise that the permit was granted by the City of Portland to build out the Design Studio basement!

• The Dress for FREEdom event on Apr 6. Last year's attracted 48 girls living in foster care or shelters along with their caseworkers and foster families. Christina shared her story and her hope in Jesus and the girls were on the edge of their seats. It was very powerful. Please pray for all the details to come together and many girls to attend.
• We are partnering with a group in Beaverton to do a Fashion Show in May or June to raise awareness, advocacy and funds to fight trafficking. Besides showcasing our bridal and formalwear, our Adopt-a-Dress re-purposing/re-creating entries will be modeled as an illustration that we use with the girls: the Divine Designer can take the tattered fabric of your life and transform it into His beautiful work of art.
• The Bridal Shop covers operating expenses at the Design Studio workshops but the two events (about $1,000 each) are expensive endeavors for which we will seek donations. Please pray for God’s provision.
• Please pray for the building process for the studio now that the permit has been approved, the real work begins.

• More than 300 volunteers representing eight churches and 12 businesses in East Multnomah County poured tender loving care into the Gresham Child Welfare office

• The garden box building went great!  It was a fun, very full day.  We know have four good size boxes built and ready to go.

• Wisdom on how to encourage ownership and community generosity amongst the neighbors as well as continued connection opportunities for our churches.
• Wisdom for the site team as we continue to move the churches to be able to continue their ministry there without a site team.  Wisdom for all three current site team members as they move closer to their deadlines for making a decision about how long to stay at Stonecreek.
• Jen to find a job by the end of August or she will have to move out of Stonecreek.
• Good relationships with the new apartment managers all the way around.

• Many people and churches to visit the website (http://www.abolitionnow.com) and for it to be an effective tool in the fight against Human Trafficking
• The Fall workshop event planned for October 9th & 10th called ConnectPDX for established agencies or ministries to network and collaborate with one another.  The Junior League is planning the event details, but volunteers are needed to put together the material that will be presented

• The Human Trafficking prayer and awareness meeting Thursday, Aug 9th, at 7:00pm in the Green Room at Good Shepherd Community Church - the ministry has 3 goals:
  • Begin the process of educating church youth using materials from the the AWARE training 8/3 and 8/4 (see below)
  • Distribute flyers in various malls and other places youth hang out- We need many volunteers-whether available for one hour or several

CC Prayer Requests for July 2012

• The patients who weren’t able to be seen on 4/21 to get appointments
• The development of on-going relationships as they put together the follow-up for patients who have asked for more help with ESL, spiritual needs, employment help, food, clothing, etc. They currently have linked up with Los Niños Cuentan to provide some of those services right there at the church.

• More people to volunteer  - especially on the children's, hospitality, connections and flow teams.  We are needing another 200 people to sign up so we can make this event take place

    • Praise:  God has provided the funds to pay for the soap for the Soap Project as well as a connection to a hotel chain owner to order the soap.  This is a huge praise!!  God is at work and has bigger plans than we could ever imagine!
    • Pray: for motel owners to be OPEN to learning about HT and to supplying their rooms with the soap that could literally save a life and also for them to take steps to stop trafficking from happening in their motels.

• our efforts over the next few weeks to get the word out for what we are doing to promote the shop and our mission to serve D2G and other abolition of slavery organizations.
• We have a new intern, Jen, who is going to be working hard to help us market the shop and promote awareness of our mission.   Please pray for all those activities.

CC Prayer Requests for June

• Compassion OC is going very well.

• The leaders of the teams not be overly sensitive with each other.
• His peace to be felt.
• Of course bringing others to Jesus is our main goal so pray for that as well.  He is good!

• Physicians to volunteer to serve - they have none and need about 10-12.
• Finances - they are short about $2000 for the clinic.
• That the clinic day would be blessed and that what comes out of the day shows the love of Jesus to the guests, volunteers and the city.

• Each clinic to be guided according to the Lord's desire for their community.
• Compassion Connect (the body that oversees all the clinics) to be guided by Him.
• For wisdom and resources that are needed.
• Encouragement...seems like there have been a lot of clinics that are struggling because of burn out.
• All the clinic teams that they would  be strong and united.
• The churches involved that they would see the big picture of what they are doing and how they represent The Church.

• General - Jehovas Witnesses and Mormons are going door to door at Barberry. Pray against their work, but that they would be saved. Also that the Christians that interact with them would be equipped to defend and preach the true gospel.
• That we would get more language help here at Barberry.
• Please pray for the Ko family that is actively discipling many of the Karen people here.
• That a certain Chinese female resident would be saved.
• God would help the transition as Lane gets married, and others potentially moving in.
• Peter - for wisdom as far as work and ministry are concerned - to get some direction as far as what to spend his energy and effort on.
• Lane - Had the chance to share the gospel with a resident, and is actively engaged in discussing a number of topics. Pray for her salvation.
• Andrea - She wants a job at Persimmon. Had an interview. Pray for finances.
• Ryan - Pray for wisdom in how to be healed from his shoulder injury, and his job situation in the fall.
• Jennifer - Wisdom with how to structure her day, and actually doing it.
• Daniel - That a certain young man would respond to an invitation to discipleship that I made, and that one of us would preach the gospel to a muslim neighbor here soon.

• Relationships to deepen with their neighbors.
• The last few months have been a hard transition here.  Neighbors are still hurt and distrusting since the manager left. The monthly attendance has significantly dropped.  We are confident that God is moving through this hurt and He has given us a great opportunity to share His love and HIS faithfulness.
• Stonecreek to get traction with a community garden and cooking class as well as the standard connecting events (meals, craft nights, Bible studies, game nights, etc.).

• We will be entering into an evaluation season over the summer months.  We would like to hear God's clear leading on future direction.

• Darlene, Amanda and Carma as they are taking over leadership of this ministry (Stephanie’s husband is being transferred to Utah). For God’s wisdom, encouragement and strength.
• Abolition Now is in need of an Editor, a Networking Reporter, and several others to complete the website and notebook.  The end of June is our deadline. Pray for God to bring the right people for these positions and for us to meet our deadline in order to be able to send out invites for Connect PDX.  Our next AN meeting is Wed, June 6th. • Pray for the nuts and bolts of conducting a business-ministry; to keep Jesus first and the girls always close at heart while also being good steward of all the gifts we are given

• The City permitting process and wisdom on how to proceed under the zoning limitations for the basement.

• For providing the new office space and the volunteers who have helped w/ cleaning, painting, etc.
• 3 people are interested in leading the banquet prayer team.

• The current owner, that when she returns from the Philippines it’s not too shocking what we did to upgrade the space.
• The staff to settle in well to the new office space.
• Smooth transitions as some staff/interns are leaving CC and new staff/interns are coming on board.
• Continued movement forward with PLF.  That it would be smooth and effective.
• The leadership of CC to be led powerfully by God and listen and obey no matter what.
• For the banques - we really want to make sure our hearts are right in this banquet planning process.  The banquet will be Friday evening, Oct. 19th at Willamette Christian Church in West Linn, OR.

CC Prayer Requests for May 2012

• Lots of praise. . .  800 people, every medical and dental appointment was utilized.  Hair cutting was once again the biggest need.  Great food all day.  About 150 volunteers; truly a great day.

• CNC’s first mini-clinic went well.  We saw 61 patients, mostly dental and chiropractic.  5 patients saw doctors or nurse practitioner.  We have more than enough volunteers from 3 churches, BSLC, New Hope and New Life Christian Center.  Of the 61 patients, 56 were Latinos but we had plenty of interpreters.  For the most part the day went smoothly.

• The next mini-clinic at Milwaukie Christian Church on July 28 - for pts who weren’t able to be seen on 4/21 to get appts

  • One of my BIG requests is for my coworkers at the restaurant. There are lots of people who need to know the Lord, and I am praying that He brings the whole restaurant to know Jesus.
  • I have been told I will get a raise. Pray that it is substantial and that it goes into effect quickly!
  • Prayer for my Arabic/English lessons, that they could be gospel centered and effective for the Lord.
• Lane - Had the chance to share the gospel with a resident, and is actively engaged in discussing a number of topics. Pray for her salvation.
• Andrea - She wants more work, and to connect with a female resident.
• Ryan - For his shoulder and direction with life.
• Jennifer - She is thinking about starting a podcast for what is going on at Barberry.
• Daniel - That I would initiate with a certain young man about discipleship here at Barberry.

• Stonecreek to get traction with a community garden and cooking class as well as the standard connecting events (meals, craft nights, Bible studies, game nights, etc.).
• Stonecreek has been in a difficult season since Easter when their apartment manager left suddenly.  Continued prayer for healing of trust for the neighbors would be great.  We've already seen God working in this, so just that the team and church partners would continue to have wisdom with how to proceed.

• We will be entering into an evaluation season over the summer months.  We would like to hear God's clear leading on future direction.

• Monday May 7th at 11:00am - Good Shepherd Community Church is giving the Human Trafficking ministry an opportunity to present how much the ministry has grown, and how GSCC can support its vision.  We feel God wanting us to spread awareness within the church, and to continue to support organizations such as Door To Grace, Adorned in Grace, etc

• Praise that Kate and her husband, John were able to get away on a sailboat belonging to good friends! A much needed break!
• Praise for faithful volunteers who have been proactive in problem-solving and tending the shop in Kate's absence. Thank you to Janelle and others who stepped in to bridge the gap!
• Praise for new volunteers at the shop
• Praise for those who so sacrificially give, even on a Saturday, so that young girls can avoid and/or escape modern-day slavery
• Praise for the Volunteer Celebration on Wednesday, May 2nd at 7:30 PM

• Praise God for Eden Community Church members who are "worshipping through service" at the space: painting, replacing florescent light bulbs and landscaping on May 6th
• Praise God for a fruitful Global Giving Campaign that raised over $6,000 for the Design Studio
• Praise God for a lovely open house that led to connections with new volunteers
