Bringing the zing back to its gaming experience, Nintendo has released the eagerly awaited Wii Sports Resort scoring five out of five stars almost instantly as gamers worldwide checked out the new product.

Priced at $49.99, the game includes a Wii MotionPlus attachment with jacket, sold separately for $19.99, needed to play the dozen games included in the package.

The Nintendo team’s expert finesse in designing games and related hardware is clearly reflected in Wii Sports Resort. It combines two sensors – an accelerometer and gyro – and the new Wii MotionPlus can detect rotation and twist movements as demonstrated in Frisbee and Sword Play games for instance. The graphics are bold and clear and the imported Mii has a more life-like body with very attractive outfits. Just like Wii Sports, the better a gamer gets at playing the games, the more intense the experience or gaming workout becomes, especially if attention is paid to the individual gamer’s form and technique. Another feature that makes it alike Wii Sports is the physical demands of the interactive sports games and the potential for injury.

Critics and reviewers from the gaming community advise that the tutorials should be watched carefully. In fact, Battlefield 1943 has notched up a massive 600,000 purchases since its launch, making it the fastest selling day-one and week-one download release to ever hit Xbox Live’s global network, rather than just attracting players to the point of merely selling well.

Hitting the market as the multiplayer sequel to the hugely popular World War II shooter Battlefield 1942, the new release caters for up to 24 players across the existing Pacific gameplay environments of Wake Island, Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima. EA had initially locked off a fourth map called Coral Sea, promising to unlock it on each respective platform when its gamers amassed an online kill count of 43 million. However, after players collectively reached 43 million kills, their respective console versions received access to the additional Coral Sea map.

With the Xbox 360 sporting a stronger rate of adoption, that figure of 43 million was surpassed with ease on Xbox Live in a mere five days – although PlayStation Network players were not far behind, reaching the required mark in a respectable eight days.

For those not in the gaming loop, Battlefield 1943 is an online multiplayer World War II first-person shooter video game developed by EA Digital Illusions CE and published by EA for Xbox Live Arcade, and PlayStation Network via digital download only. Unlike Battlefield 1942, this game is set for play only in the Pacific Theater of Operations of World War II.

Players of this game can choose to enlist with either the United States Marine Corps (USMC) or the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN), with up to 24 players on the three classic Battlefield maps of Wake Island, Guadalcanal, and Iwo Jima. The game features the Frostbite Engine for its environmental damage, and the series’ signature Conquest mode.

As with the Battlefield Heroes game, this one also features only three classes: Infantryman, Rifleman and Scout. The Infantryman is armed with a Type 100 submachine gun (IJN) or Thompson submachine gun (USMC), depending on the players choice of side, and equipped with a recoilless rifle, handheld grenades, and a wrench used both for melee and for repairing vehicles. The Rifleman is equipped armed with a Type 5 (IJN) or an M1 Garand (USMC), and equipped with rifle grenades, handheld grenades, and a bayonet. The Scout carries a Kar98k (IJN) or a Springfield (USMC), a Nambu pistol (IJN) or a Colt M1911 (UMSC) , a Katana sword (IJN) or knife (USMC), and also remote explosives. There are four types of vehicles in the game: each team’s base has two one-man fighter aircraft with Zeros for the Imperial Army and Corsairs for the USMC. Each team can capture a further base in the classic Maps which hold another airplane. Each airplane has a machine gun that can shoot down other airplanes or strafe ground troops; they also can drop bombs. Tanks can accommodate two people: a driver who can use a tank round and a coaxial machine gun, and a passenger who can use a machine gun. The tanks are the medium-size M4 Sherman and Type 97 Chi-Ha. Jeeps are fast ground vehicles equipped with a machine gun and support up to three players. Landing craft, equipped with machine guns, can transport up to six people across water.

While each class has an unlimited supply of ammunition, players still need to reload guns and explosives. The game also features a regenerating health system similar to the Call of Duty or Halo series.

The Kingdom of Loathing, or KoL as it is popularly known among avid gamers, is meant for those who get a thrill out of challenging puzzles and a satirical edge.

Kingdom of Loathing is a darkly funny, browser-based, multiplayer role-playing game designed and operated by Asymmetric Publications. Best of all, KoL allows only a certain number of turns per day, so players must eventually go outside or otherwise occupy themselves rather than spending hours grinding through such locales as The Sleazy Back Alley or The Misspelled Cemetary.

The game was released on February 23, 2003, but because a lot of content is still being added frequently, the game is still considered unfinished and officially remains in open beta. It is constantly evolving and gaining popularity among more gamers worldwide.

KoL has a characteristic surreal humor, word play, parody and references to popular culture which makes it ever in vogue. In KoL, players fight monsters for experience, meat (which is the game’s currency), and items, through the turn-based system. Players can also interact with each other through player versus player competitions, participate in the in-game economy by trading goods and services, organize themselves into clans, and speak to each other in many different chat channels.

Between 2006 and 2007 alone, the game hosted a player base of about 140,000 regular users and 190,000 active accounts, clearly demonstrating its popularity. Gameplay in KoL involves fighting monsters, completing quests, gaining skills and stats, and accumulating items and meat. Famous videogame company Electronic Arts has said it will extend its Sims franchise and has promised to bring The Sims 3 World Adventures expansion pack. For PC and Mac computers, this expansion pack will be available from November 16 this year. The Sims 3 proved to be instant success selling 1.4 million copies in its first week and dominating the sales charts over a month later. It was received well by critics gaining an 86 per cent score from aggregator Metacritic.

The developers of the game have stated, “What you do outside your home now matters as much as what you do within.” The game includes an optional feature known as “Story Progression”, which allows all NPC Sims in the neighborhood to autonomously continue as if the player was controlling them, such as grow up, get married, get jobs and promotions, have children, and so forth. In addition to “Needs”, Sims now have “Moodlets” which can be positive or negative, involving events such as emotional or physical events, like a good meal and comfort from sitting in a good chair.

The rumor about Final Fantasy XIII saying that it will be made exclusively for PS3 is not true!. That is until Yoichi Wada who is the President of Square Enix made announcement about the release of Final Fantasy 13 XBOX 360 during the Microsoft Keynote E3 2008.
