This time we developed a bloody true addictive kind of game for iPhone. Holiday Havoc… First time I saw the mock-ups of the screens and several UI elements, I caught myself on thinking that something is being ruined… Everything looked so plain and unsophisticated that I was happy all marketing stuff will do Kevin [@UndergroundPixl] – the idea-man of this project. Cool, I thought. Time passed.

When it was almost the time of the initial release and I decided to get a glimpse of the result, there came a feeling, a destructive, frustrating feeling that I wasn’t right. I thought I’m always right, you know. That was a tragedy. Holiday Havoc proved to be a very nicely designed pixel-art retro style little game. I loved its look.

Surely, after playing a few rounds and understanding lack of gaming experience and actually playing worse than everyone in our dev team, I gave up. I never opened Holiday Havoc again.

Now we have A high-floor room with big windows, old parquet, bare walls… well – floor, walls and the door, that’s it. But in order to sit and work on our BIG project and serf in search for many new, we needed something to sit on. So first few days we settled everything with the rent, internet provider and insurance. And ordered tables. Tables were to come in 2 weeks (they did not actually). Okay, laps will do, but where to sit?

We bought a couple of bean bags and fixed ourselves in them comfortably. And at this point we get sucked in to a new X-mas iPhone app venture followed by an app promotion project.

Nonviolent, practical and useful, beautifully designed and very engaging. In order not to copy&paste the game description, I’d rather show you the dedicated site: see iMommysite. Give it a quick look, especially if you have your own kids – you should like the game!

Time runs fast and in a matter of just one week we are going to submit iMommy game to Apple AppStore. There’s such a hustle in the office: disassembled virtual baby (for instance, the main character of the game) flies hither and thither around the office from the designer to devs and vise versa, cry and laughter can be heard from everywhere while testing. Everyone is already used to cooing, giggling, whimpers of the devs baby who has come to be the object of our close undivided attention for the recent month.

Since we started working on the app after all the naughty winter holidays, we’ve managed to imitate baby’s gurgle achieve a lot. Rich, detailed graphics, animation, nice sound effects and miscellaneous object interaction abilities – everything makes the game really engaging. The whole idea is quite unique – again visit the iMommy site to learn more about the very idea, scenario and see loads of screenshots

One more curious iPhone/iPad app I came across on weekend, made me continue this comics epic. The most interesting thing about it is that it combines both a game and a comic book and promises about 4 hours of involvement. Actually this is pure truth

The art-work is amazing, that’s true. The game is a bit slow, but there’s also a positive side about it – you won’t finish it off at a stretch and can prolong the experience.

The gameplay is enriched with a beautifully drawn comic strips that take you deeper into the story line behind the gameplay that, definitely, makes the game deeper and even feels more interactive in some way. As you’re starting to somehow associate yourself with the main character (oh, I know it’s a monkey ) and wish it to succeed in it’s mission to make those militarists… oh, almost spoiled you the moment of investigating the plot yourself.

Ah, I haven’t mentioned its name yet. Drumroll….6th Planet by Monkube. You should definitely try it out. And if my words were not persuasive enough, maybe you should watch a game play video-review by AppSpy first:

Today’s post comes in handy now more than ever. There’s everything to do with HEARTS on St. Valentines, isn’t it?

So, on the agenda today is HeartDancer app. It settled pretty fine in the AppStore and we plan to work on it further in the instance of our customers – David and Gus. They want us to do some magic and conjure several new dancers. There’s a big idea behind our plans, but I’ll keep the details on the back-burner for now – it is not time yet to show hand

Maybe you also hold a big box under your bed stuffed with comic-books you have been preciously collecting for years? Spider-Man, Hulk, X-men, Batman – the stars now left to oblivion in a carefully hidden box far from teasing and mockery of your friends.

But you know the deal? Comics are in trend! Thousands of good old heros waiting for you…on iPad. There IS justice in the world!

There’s a special comics app from Marvel, thousands of less known stories within separate apps – just check the AppStore.

Comics experience a great revival, obtaining a new life within a new technological eco-system. Some will seek just a handy, more convenient way of reading their favorite stories. Some will stay old-school, considering this innovation to be the death of comics. But some will try to take all possible advantages – wanting not just a replica of the process of reading a familiar comic-book, but to create and enjoy a completely new experience. That’s what comics iPad apps are all about to my mind.

A state-of-the-art “Stricken” comics app for iPad from the very first glance illustrated to me where are the modern lines buried. Just vocalize the name – Stricken Graphic Novel for iPad. Feel a fresh breeze in the face? Same with me.

Beauuuutiful hand-crafted illustrations, detailed and polished enough so nothing interrupts perceptions. Animation, original soundtrack and sounds – everything executed the way it should. And finally, a rich interactive visual and acoustic experience – something very close to be called unique.

Digitalization of comics-books indeed influences the audience: new mediums to reach new readers, new experiences to engage old-schoolers and…new AppStore fans eventually

We waited and waited for Apple guys to approve the app, but they dragged their heels over and over. The reason stated was that dancing Ida was looking too natural and was way much “opened” than should. So, we stroke Ida off with bleeding heart and hit home. The app was approved.

But we kept attempting to alter Ida‘s look but Apple guys harped the same string. Finally, Ida‘s gorgeous dance is now accompanied by crawling rose-leaf whirlwinds which cover all hot spots of Apple‘s particular attention

So in the issue we’ve got Apple‘s approval (even for Ida) and *bingo!* HeartDancer is now live in full.Viva!
