And that brings me to our two safety tips for the day. Bike Safety Tip #1: Wear a properly fitted bicycle helmet. Protect your brain, save your life. Bike Safety Tip #2: Be predictable. The 8th-grade dance will be held on Friday, May 18th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., right here at CBMS. If you are in 8th grade and want to dance it up for last time, BE THERE! We will have a photographer if you’d like to get your picture taken with a friend, and DJ Vair might even play you a dubstep. See you on Friday the 18th!

Hey T-Bird Bikers! Have you seen Mr. Brown and Ms. Bitner in their brain helmets? They look fantastic. Make sure you stop by the bike rack after school today to check out the City of Loveland’s helmet selection. They will be outside at the bike rack selling super-awesome helmets for just $5.00. And that brings me to our two safety tips for the day. Bike Safety Tip #1: Wear a properly fitted bicycle helmet. Protect your brain, save your life. Bike Safety Tip #2: Be predictable. Ride in a straight line, not in and out of cars. Always signal your moves to others. Keep riding, T-Birds!

If you are on the decorating committee for the upcoming 8th-grade dance, please meet in Mrs. Heiser’s room for a quick meeting after school today. We will make more specific decorating plans and talk about pictures.

Hey track stars, don’t forget to turn in your uniforms. Please have your uniform clean and dry, in a bag with your name on it, and turned in to Coach Brown in room 25 by tomorrow. Thanks, and keep on running!

Just two days are left for the Penny Wars! Bring in pennies to your SSR class. Bring in nickels, quarters, dimes, or even dollars to “bomb” rival SSR classes. All the proceeds will be donated to a local animal shelter, and the Penny War winners will receive breakfast in their SSR classes.

With Penny Wars coming to an end, National Junior Honor Society is starting Soles for Souls, another great opportunity to help others. We will be collecting new or gently used shoes to donate to the needy. There will be a bin in the auditoria. If you are able to help, please bring in and donate to this great cause.

Mother’s Day is just days away, and we have a way for you to honor your mom, grandma, aunt, or other special woman in your life while also supporting CBMS! This Saturday, from 8:00-10:00 a.m. at the Applebee’s in the Orchard’s Shopping Plaza, we are holding a pancake breakfast. It will be all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausages, and beverages for just $5.00 a person. There will also be plants for sale, so you can pick up a special gift while you are there! If you want to be part of the fun, be sure to fill out and turn in the order form that you received from your advisory teacher.

T-Birds, Bike Week continues with lots of T-Birds helping the environment and getting exercise by riding bikes to school. And don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten. Here are today’s bike safety tips for you. Bike Safety Tip #1: Look before turning. When turning left or right, always look behind you for a break in traffic, and then signal before making your turn. And be sure to watch for any left- or right-turning traffic. Bike Safety Tip #2: Watch for parked cars. Be sure to ride far enough out from the curb to avoid anything unexpected from parked cars, such as doors opening or cars pulling out from the curb. And T-Birds, do not forget that the City of Loveland will be here again on Thursday afternoon with those discounted $5.00 bike helmets. They even have helmets that look like brains! We think those are the SMART choice. Get it? Brain helmets? Smart choice? Get one on Thursday!
